My husband and I were both bitten by brown recluse. I new when I saw it what was wrong so I took Tetra cycline and packed with sea salt.My husband went to doctor and got a very strong antibiotic,I also packed his with sea salt.We are healing well. His doctor was suprised how fast he healed.Mine is good to ,buy itches very bad.Any suggestons on itching ? It has been 2 1/2 weeks and have ran out of antibiotics but still have small hole and terrible itch. We also took 1 asprin a day and kept moving and working even though it was painful. We farm so have to take care of animals, plus husband Doc said keep blood circulating even if it hurts

After 7 months, I had it cut out. Took 2 layers of stitches, skin taking 10. Dr. said it was a recluse.

This site has definitely helped me with some misinformation I received from our exterminator, who said all the banded widow shaped spiders in our yard was the male black widow species, in which BURBANK, CA is notorious for. Not only does my small nephew play outside, but the love of my life, my Russian blue cat, is a -natural hunter of all creepy crawlies. 1 night I noticed her torturing some insect, & I'm sure now it was a brown widow she spit out of her mouth cos I never understood why if it was a black widow, why didn't it bite her. The brown's more docile nature would explain It.

1 thing I can add is, for those terrified of them like me, instead of only hunting for them @ night to spray directly, is not to rid their webs, and saturated their webs with spider spray in. The daytime & by the AM, you'll find many a widow carcass.
Also, any of those waiting on medical attention post-bite, are being foolish. If it was a indeed a widow bite, you only have amputation or respiratory failure in your future. Had 2 friends wait until the point of gangreen before heading to urgent care, not the way to go.
& those collecting in jars to relocate are just-crazy. They do not have a problem populating, no one wants them, & are too dangerous to keep as mere insect control. A daddy long legs can do the same thing without harming you.
If u handle your insect problems, the spiders will not need to infest your property. Use the yellow light bulbs for the porch, & do what u can to deter widow food, because widows don't migrate

I got shingles almost a week ago. I did fall on ice while visiting NC two weeks ago and hurt my spine. I am also under lots of stress. Mine started one week ago today with sensitivity on my back area. That lasted two days then welps arrived on my right chest and right back. Now they are under my arm as well. The blisters came about 3 days later. Pain is awful not explainable. Mine are still growing. I am taking 2tbls of natural vinegar 3 times a day. I also soaking the rashes with the same natural vinegar. I am taking llysine, vit C vit B super strength. Today is the first day I can actually sit around and not in bed. I am tired and have slept alot the past week. I am on no meds at all. Treating them holistic. I am 54 years old. I pray to God I never get this ever again. Also have a pregnant daughter so I cannot see her. Mine look identical to the pictures that are already available on this site. If anyone has answers email me at fussnfrill [at] aol.com

This is just to let others know what I found out, the brown recluse's bite does not always form a pimple, sometimes it a bite with a black spot in the center. In Texas it's a common spider. I got bit, just thought it was a scorpin, later a spot on my leg swelled up and turned black, I keep squeezing it and a liquid came out was putting tinactin on it, it went down after a little time. I don't rember how much later I was bitten again. This time I saw the spider. In total I have been bitten 5 times. I developed algeries to a lot of things around me, willow trees, cats, rye grass, etc.

While getting seen by a doctor, I told him all this was caused by the recluse, he didn't think so, I asked if he wanted me to get him one to see. He said yes, so I got him a good size male and gave it to him, after it was dead. He took it to who ever id these things and they told him yes. The reason I tell you this is sometimes when you get bit, you can give off something that will attract them back to you. My husband used to call them my pets. They would crawl across him to get to me. A nurse there also said that they come after you sometimes. It does not always happen, but sometimes it does. This is just a word to the wise. After the allergy shots they stopped. I watch them to learn their ways and I've killed everyone I have found.

I live in Florida and I was walking my dog this morning in a grassy area. My dog started barking because there was another dog getting close to us so I was trying to calm him down when I felt something pinch the top of my foot. At first, I thought that I had just walked through a dry branch and got cut by it so I kept walking but then it started to itch and burn right after. I started scratching my foot and I thought I might have something stuck inside of it because there was no blood or visible cut.

I came inside and asked my husband to check if he saw something and I had what appeared to be 2 small mosquito bites right next to each other and another small one under it. Kind of like a triangle. It's been hours now and my foot didn't swell, the marks are gone but my foot still feels like its burning inside. Does anyone know of what it could have been?
