I noticed a red bump that i thought to be a pimple on my chest. I tried over and over for 2 days to pop it but it wouldn’t pop. now it looks like a tiny bite on the middle and its red around. i squeeze it and clear liquid comes out of a few different places. i hope its not a spider but im not sure what else it could be.

i woke up on Thursday morning with a blackish dot on my cheek. i just thought it was a strange pimple. that night i pricked it and blood oozed from it. it is not a raised lump but in fact a deep one. the next morning it was sore and was a huge bump under the skin. by that afternoon it started to swell and the swelling has risen into my lower eyelid. its sore to the touch and when pricked, blood just pores out. what could it be? the large bump is not discolored , however where the head of the bump is, it is red and black (blood color)

    please help.

I got bit under my thigh today, it hurt like a bee sting and I jumped up and yelled but there was no stinger. Initially, it looked like there was a circular small bite taken out of my thigh, like an apple bite, but now almost 7 hours later it’s a white bump and very small. It hurt all day, but the pain has dulled considerably. I live in Socal, so if anyone thinks they know what bit me pls let me know! Thanks

Anyone know what sort of creature caused this?

I was running errands on Sunday and became aware of a painful spot on my leg. I have dogs and cats, and assumed that I’d been scratched, so I just ignored it. When I was driving home from the pet store, I began feeling really, really sick – feverish, chills, shaking like crazy, etc. I got home, piled on blankets and sweatpants and fleece, and still couldn’t get warm. Finally I fell asleep and woke up again a few hours later. I’d taken some Advil so the fever & chills had calmed down a bit. I never made the connection between the fever and the bite, but the next day I realized that the area on my leg had swelled up and felt hard, had a blister in the center surrounded by a red area, and the red area was surrounded by a white ring. Today the blister is even larger and is about to pop. I covered the area with gauze to ease some of the pain from rubbing, but it’s not helping much. It hurts like heck and I’m limping around. At least the fever was gone by this morning.

I’m thinking spider bite. I live in NW Georgia and there are several spider species that could cause a reaction in a person, but I’m just curious to know what this might be. If there’s no improvement by Friday I’ll go to the doctor.

I am a 21 year old female living in Charlotte, North Carolina and I have had a scar on my leg as long as I can remember. It is slightly darker than the surrounding skin and slightly more grey-ish in color. The skin itself has a stretched look to it, like a healed burn might look. What is more is the fact that that particular spot is paralyzed, or permanently numb. It is about the size of a nickel and does not grow hair. When I asked my mom about it, she told me that when I was about two years old, she heard me crying and came running and found what looked like a bite on my leg.

Naturally she took me to the doctor like any terrified, loving mother would do – only she can’t remember what he said anymore. I’m guessing it must not have been dangerous, but I still want to know what kind of bug or spider could possibly do this? I mean, I know it’s small, but it still destroyed the nerve endings there so that I can’t feel and somehow managed to keep me from growing hair there. It seems like, if one were to be bitten in the wrong place, it could do some serious damage. Anyone have any idea about what it could be?

#492- did you ever find out what bit you?

Did it go away? I recently moved into an old house and was doing yard work Saturday. It wasn’t until Monday at work that I noticed I was bit. That evening when I got home I examined my calf further and their is a white pimplish bump that hurts like crazy.

Please let me if i need to go to the doctor or just use rubbing alcohol. :)

Anyone that knows the answer is more than welcome to give me a little feed back, laleeshw [at] aol.com

For all bites, unless bitten by a very poisonous insect, find something from the shops that bears the name of virgin coconut oil I’m sure you’ll find it amazing. I have tried it with bee bites and others.

A slightly raised, pale circle has appeared on my shoulder. It is not much different than my skin tone. it feels very bruised but shows no sign of it. I have this before, but without the pain. It is less than a centimeter around, and I suspect and hope it is just a bug bite.

Any idea what this is, and why is may hurt?

Hello. Lately I’ve been getting these bug bites that come up as pink bumps, the biggest being about the size of a quarter, and the smallest are a bit smaller than a dime. There are usually just a few of them, 5 at most, that appear in concentrated spots like my hand and arm or on my neck and face. They last for about a week and a half, and once they’re close to gone, new ones appear. They usually itch like crazy.

I’ve never actually seen what’s bitten me. Once or twice I’ve felt a little pain right before noticing the bite, but normally I don’t, and I’m awake when most of the bites appear. I’m also the only one in my house getting the bites; I live with both my parents. My mom is convinced they’re flea bites, but from images I’ve seen online they look nothing like flea bites. I’ve looked for signs of bed bugs, but I haven’t found any. Please help me identify them if you can.

This is an image from a week after noticing the bite(the bite is on the hand, wrist area). The doctors have identified it as a spider bite, but we would like to know what type of spider this may have been from. after day 2 he started complaining of pain when lowering the hand. from day 4 on was having pains on the elbow joints.

We appreciate any input. Thank you!

This just doesn’t look like a normal blister.. any ideas?

Looks like a blister on the bottom of my foot, with a thin red ring, and weird shape a bit larger than a quarter but not “round.”

    Thanks, Robert

I wanted to post this picture of a bite I got in northern Thailand. I wasn’t in the jungle or anything. I live in a town called Mae Sot and I was sitting at my dining room table when I think I got bitten. Actually I didn’t notice anything dramatic, but at some point, I noticed something strange on my foot, which i scratched. a few hours later, I started to feel pain all over my foot. That night, the swelling was very noticeable. I got nausea and chills but no fever.

This photo was taken about 36 hours after the bite happened. There is still swelling and redness, with a purple/black center to the open wound site. At 36 hours, the pain was still quite intense, made worse with any kind of activity and the swelling and pain prevented me from bending my foot in any way so i could hardly walk. There were a few red lines starting to creep up my leg and the redness was growing. I went to the hospital in my town, where the doctor told me I had been bitten…. by a mosquito. I was prescribed paracetamol (Tylenol) and ibuprofen. I’ve been icing it and today, day 3, the swelling and pain has gone down and I am getting better. Still, I would very much like to know what other people think because all I know is this wasn’t any kind of mosquito bite!

My husband started getting these small bites and I didn’t have any and then suddenly I started getting them to. We aren’t sure when we get bitten but it just pops up. Its a slightly raised small round itchy red bite with a tiny needle prick hole on the side of it. They aren’t in clusters, just kind of around our body sporadically.

I have 1 on my back, my chest and my leg. My husband has most of his on his inner thighs

    lots of red bites

Hi, I found your blog or something online, and it said to email you the picture of the bite to see what kind it is. I think I got this bite yesterday, the bite itself doesn’t look bad, just a spot with a bruise but ever since about that time I’ve been getting dizzy, and my right eye gets blurry sometimes. I don’t know its its related, but it seems to be. The picture isn’t great, its just through my phone and its hardly showing up. The bruise is much darker. Not like, soo dark but definitely noticeable. The same color as a vein, really. But yesterday, it was a red spot, and a small, but tall bruised bump. Today it is a small red spot again, with a bruise with a weird shape- above & below the spot, and to the left of it. My biggest concern is the dizziness, if you think it could be related. Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

Hi. Yesterday morning I went out paddling on the river where we live (South Africa), this is something we do almost daily. A few minutes into the paddle, I felt a stinging sensation on my upper leg, just inside my shorts. Didn’t think too much about it. I was aware of it for the whole paddle. When I got home, it looked like a Mosquito bite, but with a noticeable hole in the middle. It was not itchy, but burny. Later during the day, it formed a dark (dark red / purplish colour) mark in the middle, with the skin raised around it (quite a big area, but the raised skin is not red). It burns a lot, and is sore to the touch. I have no idea what this could be. I didn’t get to see what it was that bit me.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

But if there is a deep hole in the center literally, a hole then you may have a parasite. Imbeded tick, bot fly, etc. I have seen the things.. If I have understood you the only thing to do is sufficate it. Petrolium jelly, or somthing thick. If it’s a a larvae it will die and fall out if it’s a tick it will suficate. If there is a local UNiversity talk to an entamologist. Most American Doctors literally wouldn’t know a Dr if it bit them.. Either way find some one who knows insects and parasites rather than some one who perscribes antibiotics. But don’t wait! good luck.

symptoms sound more like a Tarantula bite, poisonus spider, or centipeed.
I suspect the last. The time table ans symptoms fit the best. Species Ostigmus I think, they can cause vesicles to form, be painful for several hours, nausia and even vomiting. can last up to 48 hrs on average. red could be a rxn to inflamation, chemicals in the bite or even noisom bacteria from the centipeed. I know more about desert varieties..
But to be safe. Did he test you for parasites? If you got bitten with by a mosqueto in tiland you may have picked up a nematode, or a virus, or a bacteria…
If it is a centipeed: Disenfect: I use iodie. Ice and take antihistamines. Good luck what ever you decide.

I got a spider bite on my ear (kinda’ in the inside). The reason I say it is a spider bite is because you can see the two little dots that spiders usually leave. It is getting swollen and I have pain behind my ear and it is starting to run down the right side of my neck. The only thing you can see if the swollen part where the bite is. There is nothing where I am getting the pain but I am noticing that the pain is growing and hurting more.

I got bit stung probably several months ago. I didn’t catch what the bug looked like, I was taking out cardboard at my job and then all I know is it hurt like a son of a gun, and then swelled and turned very white like a bunch of venom was going in me. It was swollen for a couple days. And now its been months and i still have a spot on my hand that itches and feels like a bite, its not swollen tho. I’m poor and don’t want to go to the doctor if i don’t have to does any one know what this might be ?
