For about a year and a half, I have been bugged (sorry) by weird bites--mostly on my arms and hands. They are not so big (pencil eraser size), but I discern 3 puncture marks on each. They itch constantly. Some of them come in clusters, which look exactly like bed-bug feeding frenzy--but I have never seen ANY bugs of any kind. I scratch the heck out them. When it seems impossible for any poison to remain, they start itching again.

Eventually, that stops, and the small bumps and redness flatten out completely. A couple of weeks can go by, then the itching starts again! They have all left scars after several months. A few (a couple on my buttocks and one on the back of my neck at the hairline) have remained as hard, crusty sores that have absolutely no drainage--but itch too much to heal. any ideas? I haven't a single reference to three-puncture bites.

On another note--I lived in Kansas for 33 years and can tell you that brown recluse bites start off not as big as a dime, are initially smooth and raised--light with a distinctive red rim, and two noticeable punctures in the center. Soaking in a hot bath will cause the bite to look like it's scar tissue. My experience (for both myself and years later, my daughter) was to pick the 'scar' off and soak, repeating daily.

You'll see that inside the wound is terraced flesh (no ookie stuff) where the poison has necrotized the flesh. I have a small round scar from doing this, but have known people who have ended up in the hospital for weeks while the docs remove continuously necrotizing flesh, ending up on crutches while they heal what's left of their flesh--and talk about scarring!! The brown recluse favors 'fatty' areas, like upper thighs and buttocks--but doesn't limit itself, ours were on the inside of knee.

I woke up Friday with what I thought was a pimple next to my eye. Upon further inspection, it was red swollen with a crater in the middle. It started the size of a dime and has progressively gotten bigger. It is tender to the touch but doesn't hurt otherwise or itch.

So this morning, I woke up to find that I might have caught a cold from getting caught in he rain on Thursday (today is Saturday). I felt kinda sluggish but went out with my mom. In the afternoon, my ear started to feel weird so I felt around and discovered a small bump on (hard to explain) the top part of the cartilage where your ear is connected to your head and comes down to the center of your ear.

It hurt when I touched it but I didn't pay it any mind. An hour later it began to have a slight, dull pain and ached when I touched it. I felt nauseous so I went to go to sleep but I'm kinda worried now because its been about 3 hours that I've felt nauseous and it won't stop.

Is it just the fact that I might be sick or do you think it could be caused by an actual bite?

I don't have a pic because I can't get one since its tucked away in a fold of my cartilage. Mum said it was a bit red though.

So my boyfriend has had this bite behind his ear for about a week now. We live in Alberta, Canada but just ordered our furniture from the states and its been here about that same time frame. Really afraid there is some sort of dangerous spider in our bed as his ear is really hurting - we have kids in the house - can anyone identify this bite? Thanks.

back in 2005 i was bit by a brown recluse in jail and they almost had 2 cut my arm off 2 save my life and see i have bad anxiety 2 where i pick at myself a lot so wen i got a bump right next 2 the scar i have on my arm i didn't think anything of it and its been 2 days now and i figured if it was like a mosquito bite or something.

the swelling would go down so of course i tried popping it and honestly don't remember anything coming out of it and so wen it gets a small scab type thing i pick it off but almost 3 days has passed i've cleaned it and everything and its very red hard and some what swollen.. it doesn't itch but it does hurt wen i bend my arm or hit it never felt nothing bite me but who knows???

Last night after finishing dinner I noticed the edge of my nose was sore. I didn't think much of it, thought it might have been acne. Within half an hour it was red and swollen and noticeably more tender. I hopped into the shower and by the time I got out of the shower and dried off, (maybe half an hour to forty minutes at the most) it had blistered over like one would expect from a bad burn and touching anywhere on that side of my nose was very painful. I do not recall a spider or other insect being anywhere near my face last night, and given how quickly it blistered after I noticed it makes me think I was bit without my knowing shortly before I noticed.

I accidentally popped the blister this morning in my sleep and when I examined it in the mirror it looked like a popped blister from walking too long in unbroken in shoes that oozed clear fluid for about fifteen minutes. Since then it has been oozing a yellow pus and the side of my sinuses with the bite have been stuffy. Unsure what to do about it, I've been keeping it clean and I've taken a generic allergy pill.

My son complained on Friday evening that he might have a bite. Being boys that always get bit by ants, or mosquitoes I just said to soak in the tub and it would be be better. I looked at it and thought it might be a harmless mosquito bump even though it was in the crease of his hip area. By Sunday he was saying that it it hurt and by Monday it was swollen rock hard.

I tried comparing some of the pics I'd seen but being African American some that looked similar really weren't because he doesn't have the redness that many of the pictures of the Caucasian victims had. It is now about 1 1/2-2 inches in diameter and has a open sore in the middle hats a little smaller than an pencil eraser.

Its so swollen and he claims it hurts to touch it. I tried putting some hemorrhoid cream on it to reduce the swelling as I couldn't find the Benedryl. I thought about A&D ointment but not sure if this would help. Is this something that will go away or do I need to go to the doctor? Don't have anyway to post pictures but would appreciate some advice.

A few days ago I noticed two red spots on my arm about an inch and a half apart. Yesterday morning they started to itch to the point that I had accidentally tore the top off of them. I had manged to get the poison out and cleaned the bumps out but for the past two days I have experience horrible headaches and today I feel like I am getting yet another headache, my muscles feel slightly stiff, I'm dizzy, I am feeling itchy all over, I am having trouble with my breathing, and last night I could hardly eat anything without feeling nauseous. Does anyone know what bit me? I really don't want to go to the hospital.

On Friday 23rd September at work, I felt a sharp pain at the bottom (right side) of my right breast. It was sore & very uncomfortable. A little later, I felt out of sorts & run down.

Saturday, I woke up with a dull headache & a feeling of stiffness around my neck. The said Boob was sore. On inspection. I found two very painful bite marks on either side of my right breast, one on the right side of my cleavage and the other as described above. Large inflamed red rings with a smaller darker red centre, with two sets of puncture marks on either side of the dark red centre which are still clearly visible .

As the day wore on, the muscles in my back went into spasm and the back of my legs hurt like hell (a throbbing pain down the back of both legs). Saturday night was hell, I didn't sleep a wink the pain down my back and legs was unbelievable and my back itched in three spacific places on the right side of my body.

The whole of Sunday, I didn't know what to do with myself, the pain continued down my back & into my legs. It was uncomfortable to sit, stand and/or lye down. I felt terrible, very lathargic & listless. Sunday night was the same as Saturday, the muscles in my back & legs were screaming but added to that, was a sharp pain running from my chest to my back.

Very early Monday morning I phoned the nursing Sister & asked her for a Voltaren Injection to help relieve the pain in my back & legs. She found three large welts on my back that were raised, rough to the touch with tinny spots. She advised me to have dry needling done to help relax the muscles, take anti-inflamitories, pain killers and take a course of antibiotics, which I have been doing.

It is Thursday 29th September, I still don't feel great, however, the itching has reduced quite a lot, my back is not quite as bad but my legs are still throbbing and I still have the pain on the right side of my chest through to my back.

I did not see a spider or any other insect in my office but something clearly sunk its teeth into me.
