    Scabies,

I had scabies in my tewnties, was allergic to them, mis diagnosed by three different doctors, finally the 4th one realized I had scabies. She told me to wash all my cothes/bedding in hot water and dry on hot. I did and took the cream. I caught it again months later by a pair of jeans I hadn’t worn and forgotten to wash – so when they say WASH everything they mean it. If you have carpets get them cleaned and following the directions on the cream. The second time I used the cream and everyday for a week straight I washed my bedding in the morning after I got up and put it back at night…it was a pain, but it’s been over 10 years since I have had them!

    Good luck!

I never had scabies my whole life until I got with my current boyfriend, and now it is a constant thing we have to deal with. He has to stay in hotels the majority of the week and he keeps bringing them home. It seems as though I have tried everything… even neem oil, which helps, but smells. We keep our fingernails short, steam clean the carpets, wash everything in hot hot water and dry on high. There is nothing that can prevent these damn things and I am starting to feel helpless. I haven’t let them progress enough to become scabs, but they really do keep you up at night. Its horrible. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

I told my boyfriend to start drying all the linens on hot hot heat at the hotels and spray the mattress with rubbing alcohol, but they seem to get easier to get once you have had them.

If anyone has a suggestion for us I would appreciate it. I am tired of worrying about infecting others that I come in close contact with.

I started doing bleach baths on Sept. 24th and I’m still clear!!!! What a releif to have found something that actually kills that that doesn’t kill me!!!!!Yay!!! I think I’m free but I’ll still continue bleaching and cleaning intensely for Oct and November then I should be safe to live like normal. I spent hundreds of dollars last year, went to six different doctors and lived extremely uncomfortably with all the topicals on and now a two dollar bottle of clorox bleach has saved me after all that!!!!!

You are not necessarily getting reinfected by your own things – these monsters are everywhere! Watch out for visitors, sitting in public places + other peoples houses etc be vigilant . The worst carriers dont feel a thing.

animals cannot give you scabies, they can’t get scabies, so don’t worry about it. These things rely on a human host.

    OK FOLKS ….

Let’s all get real. All of us who suffer with scabies need to wake up and smell the COFFEE OK,

Lets just face facts & truth. The Lotions & Potions out there on the market are just not strong enough to kill scabie mites. All of this GREEN, is just watered down nonsense at the expense of our health.

Sure there were toxins in the old stuff like Blue Ointment & the like, but thats what u have an immune systems for. Some people may or may not have been cured by all this Green absolute crap. But, But, But, L0OK at the many who have not, as well as those reinfected, any clear minded person can see they never got rid of it in the first place, one way or another the majority are suffering.

All these Mr.& Mrs Green sleves out there banging drums, pots, & Pans, screming and shouting GREEN, are just being taken to the cleaners financialy, & causing all about to suffer & be taken to the cleaners with them.

What part of the stuff DONT WORK is it that u are having trouble understanding. Months of treatment and here is the stinging and itching, while more scabie residents hatch under your skin & just lovin it. And U shelling out more money for nothing.

Don’t bother looking for something with a few good toxins in it that will kill these things because u wont find it. I hope to god these people who have taken away our medications that work get a Bloody good dose of scabies, Then they can tell us all how great their GREEN CRAP IS.

Even average cleaning chemicals are as weak as nats pee. Time to wake up & smell the Coffe. What gets the scabie mites out of your funriture and carpeting. SO FAR I CANT PIN ANYONE DOWN ON THAT. Exterminators, many wont deal with it, and others recommend sprays, and if your lucky Delta Dust which does nothing and isnt for scabies, and another runner up is sulphur Dust. They become very quiet when asked for success rates. Especailly if they have to put it in writing.

Same with u hard headed doctors out there that PERSIST, and are steadfast in prescribing meds that u know good & well dont work.

Tonight I shall light a candel and hope and pray to god as many politicians as possible get the best mother and father of a double dose of scabies. Then they can sit, itch, & get the stinging of a lifetime and be told they are delusional , given weak GREEN CRAP and meds that dont work. You will then see in the bat of an eye how there would be meds on the market that would kill these little buggers overnight.

Wouldnt it have sank into your heads by now even professional exterminators have to change their poison after a length of time due to the fact that the pests they are exterminating become immune to the poison.

When was the last time they changed the meds for scabies, Oh thats right they went green and weakened it, As I write this I am being stung, Itiching and going nuts with this. I tried All Stop and It did nothing, absolutely nothing, as well as what the doctor prescribed three times. I may as well taken the money and threw it down the drain. I have tried god knows how many products to date and nothing has worked.

I have contacted many GREEN companies and asked them what is the success rate of their product. Good thing I didnt place my hand on my bare bottom or it would be good and dirty by now waiting for a reply.

It is obvious using weak watered down crap will not work because the litttle bugger become immune to that and use it as a welcomed shower.

Good luck to all of us with scabies, maybe we can find our own solution, because it dosent look too promising waiting for the government or medical profession to do it. Because what they have on the market isnt working. Just look at some of the pictures of many people who look like monsters who have suffered, and are suffering because the crap dosent work. Try telling them about the GREEN Products and see if you are standing upright after the fact.
FOLKS, Dosent that tell you something.

And these doctors telling people after one treatment they can return to work knowing they are infecting others all over the place. If u are still getting STUNG. Helllooooo That may tell u something. Other crap that is on the market will stop the itching for a few hours but it is only serving to numb the scin a bit them its right back to business again like nothing happened & sometimes worse.

    hi guys
I went to my doctors yesterday after a week of horrible bumps and burrows appearing on my chest area, stomach and thighs.
She told me I have scabies and was given Derbac Malathion Liquid.
Have any of you used this before and does it actually work? The doctor told me I have caught it at an early stage but I am still worried. I applied the treatment last night and has now been on about 18 hours and I’m considering having a shower in an hour or too.
Is there anything else I can be doing to prevent this coming back?
Have washed all bed linen and clothes!
Would you advise my boyfriend treating himself as well? (We don’t live together but he’s around alot!)
    Thanks alot.

An allergic reaction to nickel could look like scabies, I had “scabies” for 11 months, I tried all the creams, they hurt a lot, it burns on open wounds, which I got form constantly scratching, I would scream they hurt so bad, eventually I stopped doing them. My doctor miss diagnosed me all trough out those 11 months, so did the hospital, go to a dermatologist they can tell if you are allergic to nickle, they have tests. Prolonged exposure can lead to you having in to avoid nickle all together, which means no chocolate, it can spread all over your body mine started where my belt starts, find plastic belts, replace your metal sippers and buttons, try to stay away from ALL metal, because most contain nickle.

They are really irritating. I have it, put on some 8 hours cream. Been 6 weeks now, they do not spread but it still itch especially when the weather is warm! Try not to wear any cotton or tight clothing. Your skin will just have more itch as it is allergic to it.Wear loose clothing.

To ease the itch, I find Aloe Vera Gel very soothing. It will not help to rejuvenate the skin but it soothes the itch well. The itch is not as intense as it once was but I think it should take some time to get over it as dead skin cells will take sometime to get off your skin.

Good Luck and don’t scratch! It will make you itch more, now, it is not worth the ease of itching when you have pay for more itch in the future!

If you’re using permethrin, do NOT bathe within a few hours of applying. If applied to skin with pores opened by heat and hydration, permethrin can cause unwanted effects that might make you sick! You do not want to absorb any more of the medication through your skin into your bloodstream than necessary (this is a warning on that package, and from my doctor).

Although the information on scabies itself is pretty accurate, the opening paragraphs say that it’s considered a water-bourne illness and comes from a spider bite. Excuse me, what? The lower information is correct that it is from close person-to-person contact, usually.

However, it can also accumulate in the homes of affected persons. If you take a nap on a couch that has been sat one frequently by someone infected, you are at risk. If you wash your clothing in cold water with the clothing of a person who’s been infected (especially towels and bedlinens) and do not use high-heat to dry them, you are at risk if you wear that clothing within a week. Mites live a week, even without a source of food.

PETS might not give you mange, but if you have scabies and your pets sleep in your bed or on a chair that you frequent, your pet can CARRY the scabies mite. There is no physical difference between the mange mite and the scabies mite. They will feed on either pets or humans, although it is said they won’t reproduce on the wrong “animal.”

Reproduction is not necessary to become reinfected from your pet. If your pet is carrying scabies mites that you have had on your body (consider him just like a pillow or blanket you’ve used) then after you’ve been cured, you pet might redeposit those mites onto you.

Always treat indoor pets with Revolution. It is the ONLY flea product safe for pets that is also rated for mites. It will kill ear-mites and it will kill scabies/mange mites which they might be carrying. It is always best to be safe, than sorry. They make a big deal about laundering all your clothing and bedclothing and vacuuming furniture and floors… doncha think fluffy’s fur is at least as accomodating? And he’s part of the family, which everyone must be treated at the same time…

I speak from experience, as my cat actually developed blisters during a period of three months that we battled this nasty little bug. He sleeps on my bed. My vet gave us revolution, a little squirt applied to the back of his neck, and after our family’s next treatment, it was finally gone…

I’ve had Scabies since March, must have contracted it around February.
I wasn’t diagnosed til about September. They treated me with ‘EliMite’, I had to put it all over twice.
After a month, I pretty much cleared up.
    Now, it’s coming back.
I’ll tell you, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
Definately one of the worst things to happen to me.
My hands are always getting burrowed, and instead of itching, I bite the burrows, which leads to infections.
I had 10 bandaids on my hands at one point.
Not to mention all the left over scars.
Condelescences go out to the rest of us who have to deal with such an annoying problem.

    Hello all,

I have took hours to read everything listed. I still see no hope. I have been plagued with this for over 9 weeks now & I am still going insane! My whole family has it! I have spent over $1200 in cremes, ointments, RX drugs, etc. What a joke! Nix…haha! Kwell…haha! And to date I have only read one other person that says they saw the black specks on their body. My whole family has had black specks on their body. I am assuming when they have killed them off. When we have used Neem Oil, other enzymes, we have gotten black specks all over. Last night after using the oil I got a total of 113.

You say how can that be! Well I have several of them in a ziploc bag to take to the doc because I really wonder if its scabies like he said over 2 months ago!!! And these ones are bigger than the normal black specks. If you look closely you can see legs, etc. Completely disgusting! I have done everything humanly possible & still cannot rid myself or my family from this!!!! My house is so clean you can eat off the floor. I have washed & dried everything on high heat. Vacuum all the time. Most everything is bagged, except just the few items being worn, and they are washed daily. So is all the bedding, etc. Cars, etc sprayed down. I have been following all the rules, the guidelines, but i wonder why!!! My sores have healed from the burrowing, but I still have chronic places I itch. And still pull off mites daily. And a ton! Not to mention I love that they say they do not get in your scalp! Yeah right! I have them embedded in my head!!!

Does this ever go away!? If anyone has any other suggestions besides nix, kwell, kwellada, neem, tea tree, peppermint, pretty much every oil out there, please post it. I really honestly wonder if it will ever go away. And Zaldy, you know it!
Mr. & Mrs. Green need a double dose of this itch, because I guarantee they would not be so green after this, I wish all you well!!!!!

Hello…. I have Scabies (possibly post-scabies) and I want to clear a couple of things up. It takes anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks to show symptoms. If you do not have an incredible itchy sensation (especially worse at night) you most likely DO NOT have scabies. If you have had a skin disorder that you think is scabies for a long time and your sexual partner does not show any symptoms, YOU DO NOT HAVE SCABIES.

You must use the prescribed creams to rid yourself of Scabies. There is no way to rid yourself of Scabies without exposing your body to chemicals.

Do not use lice treatment, as it does nothing to the Scabies mites. Do not bother using Nix as a substitute to the 5% premathrin cream. Nix only contains 1% and will not kill the mites.

If you can, get Lindane (kwell), as it not only destroys the mites, but kills the eggs that are in your skin as well.

IF YOU ARE IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE, AND YOU ARE TREATING YOUR SCABIES, YOU NEED TO TREAT THEM TOO! IF YOU DON’T, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY BE REINFECTED AND THE CYCLE WILL REPEAT ITSELF.

    That is all.

i am in despair after three months of scabies, it is draining me and subduing my personality, i a m constantly aware of these disgusting creatures and my whole body is grim to look at. we have doused our four children twice with something the doctor prescribed out of desperation to rid me of this only to discover that the stuff is toxic. help

I might have been stupid doing this, but after the dermatologist diagnosed me with scabies and recommended that I spray down the house with lysol, I decided to spray myself. After the buring stopped, I no longer had the irritating itch and it seemed to go away after a few weeks. I am in no way shape form or fashion advocating doing this, but it seemed to work for me. It kills 99.9% of all household bacteria on the microscopic level, so I figured, what could it hurt. It helped. I dont know……Try for yourself at your own risk, just stating what worked for me.

HEy, i had scabies for a about 3-4 months, and it got really bad. It spread all over my body, my stomach, arms, hands, feet, thighs, genitals.. anyway, i did manage to finally get rid of them using the permetherin cream. What i did that worked for me, was while i still had the permetherin cream on my skin (leave it on for 12 hours,) i cleaned everything in my apartment right then. I used rubbing alcohol on all the hard surfaces, as well as washing all my clothes, and those clothes that i didn’t have time to wash i put in plastic garbage bags which i tied off. I washed my sheets, flipped my mattress, did everything, and now can happily say i am rid of this ailment which was probably one of the worst things to ever hapen to me. But now, i still have some of the marks left from the scabies.

In particular, some of the marks on that special part of the male body are particularly..um.. embarrassing, and have forced me to halt certain aspects of my social life. I am 20 years old, and intimacy is no small part of my life, and I NEED to get rid of these marks before i can feel comfortable being undressed in front of someone. so does anyone know how to REMOVE THE MARKS are left afterward? Please let me know!

AJ, I am in the same boat as you. I think I’ve had scabies for about 4 months now and think i am just getting over them. i had them everywhere mostly my wrists, thighs, stomach, and genitals. I am also 20 and i was wondering about the marks in that certain area. what all did those marks consist of? if they were the same a mine they were raised red bumps that itched like crazy. was that the same for you?

    Fellow sufferers.. Here’s my story..
Yesterday I finally swallowed four 3mg Ivermectin pills..
I weigh 145 lbs.. I’m female & caught my case in Hawaii 2002..
Went the Lindane route for 6 yrs alternating with Permethrin..
Like the Lindane better since Permethrin stings & burns..

I always open & scrape the legions to destroy their contents..
After which I would cover the area with sulphur/lanolin..
Applying Tegaderm/pad dressings also gauze under clear dressings..
Soothing & curative at first but may tend to aggravate the legion..
Due to the granular nature of the sulphur powder..

Removing the bandage after about let’s say 8 hrs..
Black specks were noticably scattered in a curious circular pattern..
And faint linear radiances around the mid-point of the sore..
Believe you me these were sores & they were deep..

At first I thought if I disturbed the area enough that’d dislodge ‘em..
And they’d wash away with soap & water or a hot shower..
Perhaps many did but so many didn’t & I still have scabies..
Even though 3 dermatologists have said I probably don’t..
No skin samples where ever taken even tho I got huffy about it..

It’s my GP (a young guy who never saw a case) whose helping me..
I asked him for everything I’m getting from the pharmacy..
Like the bandages ’cause anyone dealing with this knows..
It’s embarrassing & hardly worth showing off in public..
So if you’ve Medicaid they’ll pay for your prescribed dressings..

2004 I read somewhere about Bactroban Cream & wanted to try it..
After I returned stateside from Hawaii where I’d spent a month..
I believed (after a few treatments of Lindane) I was cured of scabies..
Since I was symptom free for almost a year when my rash returned..
Having read what I could find on diseases of the skin..
I concluded (after the fact) I must be suffering with Impetago..

Heard Bactroban is being used with some success for that condition..
To be perfectly honest I got some relieve but no cure yet..
I don’t seem to itch like the rest of you (the hallmark of the condition)
There’s itching yes but none to the point of distraction..
It’s back to the GP today for my second dose of Ivermectin..
And if he doesn’t write the prescription it’s off to the Feed & Grain..

I’ll get this Ivermectin if it’s the last thing I do..
Yesterday I took my 1st dose on an empty stomach..
There were no noticeable side effects..
Next step’s scrubbing with Lindane Shampoo & applying the lotion..
Can’t see myself soaking in bleach..

Oh & the Muprirocin ointment I’ve been using since July is great..
Another type of Bactroban & it’s a winner..
Under the dressings the legions don’t increase in size..
Become red or any more raw than what they were beforehand..
That is after I debride them..

Listen I have a wealth of personal info on this condition..
I’ve suffered with it for 6 years & have researched it the best I can..
Tonight was the very first time I sought out a public forum..
Morgellon’s Disease crossed my mind & it’s still on the table..
    But without a microscope I can’t be sure it’s not a mite..

Hope Santa ;eaves me a $12 microscope from Radio Shack..
Otherwise I’ll have to look into buying one in the new year..
I’ve no friends anymore since I began hermitizing myself in 2003..
This may not be the worst thing that has ever happened to me..
But it’s certainly the most devastating.. Feeling I’m out-numbered..

Thanx DHR for this forum.. I enjoyed leaving my remarks here..
And I thank the rest of you for your contributions..
I’ve learned more than I thought I would..
Alot more than any of the books on the subject have taught me..

    Hi,

My husband was diagnosed yesterday with scabies. I am a little skeptical because he saw the doctor for all fo 5 minutes and it seems like a rushed diagnosis. Anyway, I am 12 weeks pregnant and have an 18 month old toddler and not wanting to do a treatment for scabies unless absolutely necessary. Last night my husband did the treatment and I stayed up all night washing and drying and lysol spraying everything in the entire house. So here is the thing I am most curious about, my son and I have NO symptoms whatsoever and the osnet of my husband’s symptoms was about 6 weeks ago…which would mean he was infected anywhere from 8-12 weeks ago right? Well, if we don’t have any symptoms yet is it likely that this is scabies? What a great way to spend Christmas huh? Now we are isolated like a leper colony and my imagination is running wild. Any help would be great!

hi, i get these persistent little buggers like once a yr, like the flu. I use the permethrin lotion (Kwellada) and spray the couch with rid. The itching stays for another day, so i repeat the treatment the next night, i don’t bother waiting a week cause they come back if i do. That’s it, they are gone until the next time, usually after a trip to the thrift store, or even trying on new clothes in dept. stores i have gotten them. But the strange thing is nobody else in the house ever gets them, only me. And i know it is scabies cause i see the evidence and the intense itching drives me batty.

I started taking garlic pills to try and make my blood a little less desirable (i hope) and i added drops of Tea Tree oil to my body wash and shampoo, hopefully that will help. I sometimes dab a little bleach directly on the spots where it itches, but it kinda burns so i try not to. I think i will start the bleach baths as Michelle suggested, hope that will be a deterrant, i have a big corner jet tub, not sure what the ratio should be.

Got diagnosed with scabies today and the doctor said it’s hard to get? He said he’s touched lots if it and never got it. Sulfur pills never worked for me so I am trying his prescribed (and probably toxic) cream tomorrow.

All these comments scared me. I recommend vinegar on hands but not too much it killed some from what I can tell and drink tea with a spoon full of apple vinegar if it doesn’t helps it’s still clearing up skin really good. Also, vitamin E cleared any scars I might have had, I just did it for a few months.

Good luck and seriously, go see a doctor! No sleep for me :(

first of all, if you are bathing your kids in bleach, you should be arrested.
secondly , you cant see scabies

third, if you can afford a computer, a hot tub, and a microscope, you can afford to go to a free clinic.
fourth, if you sit in a hot tub for hours in hot water, you will die. its the same as running a 110 degree fever after an hour in 120′ water. that is why they say in the manuals not to stay in them that long.
fifth, Permetherin isn’t very expensive. if you cant afford a doctor, order the 5% cream from canada. or get it from a vet, they use the same formula on horses.
sixth, if doctors keep telling you that you dont have scabies- maybe you dont. its not magic, there is an ink that makes them easy to see, and a microscope that magnifys them.

now then… if you really do have scabies. don’t panic. its a common infestation, just like head lice. it doesnt mean you are dirty. go to the doctor, get the treatment, treat everyone in the house, clean the house the way they tell you to, continue treatment until its gone.

My friends keep telling me I have scabies,
    I’m pretty positive I do,
But I haven’t done anything about it,
    any tips?
And me reading about it just kind of freaks me out more. Haha.

About 5-6 weeks ago, I noticed what appeared to be a skin colored rash on my son’s (5yrs.) right knee. I checked it out, asked him if it hurt or was itchy, he said no. I put some triple antibiotic cream on it just because I didn’t have anything else in the house for it. It seemed to be better so I didn’t think alot about it.

I went to pick him up from his father’s house a week or so later and I notice that he was just going to town scratching at it. His father was also scratching himself and told me that he hasn’t stopped itching in a couple of weeks (why he didn’t go to the doctor, I don’t know) I checked my son’s leg and there was what appeared to be flea bites on his lower leg. I took him home and put some more medicine on him thinking that he had flea bites. I didn’t really notice anything out of the norm after that. About a week ago, I noticed that he had been itching again. He does have a rash. His father told me that he believes that a friend of his may have been exposed to scabies. I’m freaking out now!!!!!!! I made him a doctor’s appointment.

I literally watched a rash appear on my sons inner thigh last night. Freaking, right? To hell with waiting for the doctor’s appointment. Last night I went and bought lice medicine, rubbed it all over both of us. Of course washed it off. Got up this morning and took my son to urgent care. The doctor says that it’s not characteristic of scabies. I told him that I believe he had came in contact with scabies and he says that he thought at first it was that but the rash doesn’t look like a scabies rash.

Gave us prescription strength hydrocortisone and sent me on my way. This rash is all over my son’s legs (especially his right leg), on his groin area. He has a couple of bumps on his arms but it seems to be staying more on his lower body. Weird but after I put the lice med on us, he hasn’t scratched himself one time but I haven’t quit itching and I don’t have any rash. I’m going to start using everything that I can think of and hopefully this isn’t scabies. Spray permethin on everything!!!!!!!

    Darlene,

My son who is 18 months old started out the same way. He had a rash on his thigh and I also thought it was a rash from flea bites or something. The first time I took him to the doctor she said it was “contact dermatitis.” I gave him benydryl and cortisone cream but it just got worse and started spreading up to his torso and underarm.

After a week or so of him waking up in the middle of the night miserable from itching, I noticed I had some itchy bumps on my fingers. I went to the doctor again and sure enough–we both have scabies.

We treated the whole family with the permetherin cream (2 times) and about two weeks later my son looks so much better. I on the other hand still have the bumps.

Borax baths seem to help, and I’ve used the cream 3 times. I sortof feel like I’m going crazy.

I think I’m going to try the flax seed oil next….

    Dear all
I wish to share my on going experience. I have made four visits to the local health clinics with no diagnosis or real interest by the doctors. Here is the history. I have been feeling itching and stinging on my legs and feet mostly for around 12 months. I used to get these symptoms during the night and I thought perhaps I was allergic to my washing powder and things, but it was steadily getting worse. One night I felt a very sharp sting on my leg but could not see anything except the little red bump. I started to worry maybe it could be something else but I had never seen anything. Finally, I decided to seek medical help because I was experiencing irritation like a crawly sensation and like twinge in my ears, I started to worry. I also asked the doctor about the stinging. He said my ears were clear with no sign of infection, but he gave me a cream for the ears. He said my skin was clear and said it could be in my mind. I know it is real, because when I get some activity by the mite if I touch my in or rub it the movement and stinging stops. On the next visit the doctor said it may be an allergy, I took antihistamines for two weeks, the tickly sensations reduced but the stings were still there, and getting worse. My next visit I asked for some cream but he said my skin was clear, a further visit to the doctor still no progress. I began researching online, as I know the problem is. I had been using all sort of moisturizers and Vaseline and baby oils and began to shower twice daily with antibacterial shower gels. I noticed when I would moisturize my feet sometimes I would feel a gritty object bit like a grain of salt but very small like the size of a full stop, I thought it was just soil from the room or from my sandals, then sometimes when moisturizing my arms and hands I would see tiny black specs. I started paying more attention to everything around me I found there were always white little specs around me and on my clothes bit like dandruff but hard like grit and very tiny. I could not see anything on my white sheets. To date my skin is clear with no visible marks except in the areas where I have overdone the chemicals and caused skin irritation. My problem is still ongoing but I think I am winning the battle. Here is what I am doing and found out over the past six months and hope it helps as have your experiences helped me find what seems to be helping me.

A month ago, I had worms and it dawned on me how these critters survive. Whenever I would use the computer or I would get bytes or sensations on my hands and fingers like something was moving or biting. I used fly spray in my room but whenever I would touch things, I would get a byte, pressing the light switch, opening the door. Sometimes I would see tiny little specs bit like dust, so I starting vacuuming and cleaning with disinfectant spray every day and started wearing the plastic gloves like the doctor uses. Even then, I would feel the movement of the critters. I decided they were under my skin and had been leaving to lay eggs and mate, then return to my skin hence at a different byte whenever I would touch the item again. I only wear the gloves now whenever I cook, eat, or work on the computer. So now, there is only a few bytes on my hands so in a month or two my hands will be clear. One day I saw a little white spot on my fingers, I rubbed it and the white thing came to the surface I plucked it of the surface and stuck it onto some sellotape, it felt hard but I am a little nervy so didn’t look just binned it. By the way, now I use the sellotape allot now each time I see any little thing that I think is one of these parasites, on my clothes or skin. I believe the young mites and eggs are white and the adults maybe blackish or dark colored. I decided to wear only dark colors like gray or black so I could see them. I purchased a fine weave 120 threads per inch black pure cotton sheet from the local cloth store and after vaccing and spraying with insecticide wrapped my entire mattress in it and decided to use it a under blanket, plastic would make me sweat too much. I could see loads of white things keep appearing on the black sheet so I spray and vacc each day, now only a few appear on it but I can catch those during my morning and evening vacuuming and selloptape.
I have my hands on all parts of my body from my neck to my feet. Whenever I would wear a cap after a short time activity would start the itching and stinging. With my shirt especially on the neck lines and trousers around the waistline, in fact anything close to the skin. Even after an 80c and hot ironing, I do not have a drier though as they are too expensive here. I panicked a little but decided heat must be able to destroy so purchased a large deep pan and now my daily ritual is one nightly and one morning boil/simmer my clothes and bed sheets for the day for two hours. I have it on a timer so I do not have to keep going back to it. I leave any clothes like socks or underwear I soak them in either bleach or disinfectant until I am ready to boil them. Note I do not add anything to the boiling as I fond it boils over and makes a right mess. I then do a full 80c wash for my day’s clothes, with normal powder and fabric conditioner, so only one load each day in the morning before I set of for work. I dry the clothes in a separate airy room and try not to create a moist environment as I think they will head towards it and then if any critters are in the room they will just go on to the freshly laundered clothes. I could not understand why after boiling do I need to iron, but I do and find the dead white and black things fall off when ironing so at this point ironing is essential for, I hate ironing, but its one hour per day, and I can wear fresh clothes each day with out fresh bites. Straight after ironing each item I put in separate plastic bags then put in a suitcase until I am ready to use them, this includes my bed sheets and pillowcases. That is how I now keep my environment clear. I also spray a mild bleach mixture and remove as much water as possible after a shower. I wish I had a bath so I could soak. I have noticed the critters are less active when you are busy so I try to be active and not sit idle. At work, I have some sellotape handy, clean my workspace, and chair before I start. This has change my way of life and I now put the weight loss over the past year and the eyesight deterioration to this parasite. I have changed my diet too and now never cook food and leave it in the fridge for later. I eat allot of fresh vegetables and make sure I do not leave my food and eat straight away. My health is allot better. I take the usual chicken and fish and make sure it is cooked well. I try not to tilt my head over my food and not stretch my hands or arms over the food in case any eggs or mites fall of into my food.

My next problem is to rid the parasites of my body, I have found vinegar disturbs them but does not kill them, so after a spray with vinegar then once activity starts get in the shower and soap up and rinse with a 1% pemethrin body lice shampoo it has coconut oil in it and leaves the skin soft. This has not cleared the problem but it does seem to be helping. I have decided to use 10% sulfur with Vaseline and hope it rids them. After the shower, I use a hair drier and thoroughly dry all my body before putting on the medicines. During the day, I use eucalyptus type oil; it is like a vapor rub whenever I feel the crawling stinging or irritation. I also plan to use the sulfur soap all the time. On my scalp/hair I use food grade pure coconut oil and then put extra firm hair gel, then use hair dryer, I have had a week with out any irritation to my head, but I do know there are some critters still on a couple of areas of my scalp and forehead. Sometimes in the day if my head or neck start itching I wash it straight away with lice shampoo and it seems to slow them down and I feel ok for the rest of the day.

By the way, I mixed lemon juice, water and citric acid granules, just a weak solution. I found when I spray where I know there is a parasite on my body it starts stinging like mad, but the rest of my skin is ok. I do not see any skin problems yet. The parasite gets disturbed but not destroyed. I shower straight away.

I noticed though I kept getting new parasite my feet so they must be in my shoes and have now put salt and boric acid granules just to help kill any ones in there and I spray my shoes each day with insect spray.

This reminds me of the freezing theory and it does not work, it may help so worth doing it. I think the eggs can survive a deep freeze but they cannot survive a boiling. The freezer would probably kill the adults. When it was at its worst, I noticed allot more black parasites but now I hardly see any black ones. I think as the white are the younger ones in a different phase then it would mean I need to break the cycle for the white one o they never reach the adult stage.

If your clothes are clean then there is no reason why we cannot hug our loved ones. I do make sure that I wear fresh clothes and cover my head with a cap so any mites/eggs stay on me, and I use thick moisturizers on my face to stop them wanting to come out of my skin to lays eggs or whatever. By skin contact I believe a mite would transfer in around 15 to 30 seconds, you will know, as you will feel a sensation in your skin so pull away.
I had reached the point recently I was afraid to go to bed and would lay awake for age waiting for the next sting or bite, but this week two mornings I have been so cozy I have felt like having a lie in. So to all you suffers with out the medical institutes backing we can defeat these parasite and live a happy life. I have today had the courage to write my story and really do feel so much better and look forward to tomorrow.

We all need to be aware that there are many similar parasites that infect humans and our pets, like bed bugs, fleas, dust mites, and scabies mites. They all exhibit a little similarity in the symptoms and can confuse us allot. I believe they have now developed into some form of super louse, which result in these weird symptoms, from parasites in my ears, on my eyebrows, on my scalp on my neck, on my body, private regions legs and feet. I think this parasite is a type of louse relation that lays eggs anywhere, bit like fleas but lives under your skin like scabies. I will be the happiest person in the world and will report it on this website when I am clear; I do not mind all the hassle as long as I win this battle.

I feel the reason the doctors do not take action is they are scared in case the make the wrong choice and are sued, and in there profession they are not allowed to prescribe on a hunch in case they get things wrong. Until the governments invest in these conditions and fund a cure we are going to continue spending allot of money on things that do not help us.

I am so frustrated w/ these mites! Keep getting re-infested! by chance i found that breast milk brings the mites to the surface. don’t think it kills them, not sure though. relieves itching too! I pumped and then put the milk in a spray bottle.

I just wanted to mention for those who are suffering for years, you may want to see a dermatologist and make sure that scabies is actually what you have, you also may want to treat yourself and stay somewhere else rather than your home for a week or so. Spray everything in your house with something to kill them before you leave, wash everything in very hot water and bleach if you can, and any thing that you cannot wash put in garbage bags and store for 3 weeks to a month. The scabies will not have anything to eat or reproduce and will die. This is the best way to get rid of the scabies, do this for a few months on a weekly basis (treating yourself and spraying, washing and bagging materials)
    Hope that helps.

I was diagnosed with Scabies about 3 months ago.. Also being Hiv pos, it’s harder to get rid of Scabies.. But here’s what I did and 3 months later I am cured 100%…
I am 6′7″ tall, so I bought 3 tubes of Nix for scabies and I used all 3 bottles on me.. Your skin feels like a bottle of lotion, but it works.. I also took some Javex in a spray bottle half javex and water.. Sprayed and disinfected every service of my house. Also vacuumed etc. I sprayed my bed with the javex and vacuumed it..

TRY NOT to sleep in your bed for at least 24 hours (I know hard to do, but do it) Also if you are living with a spouse, do the treatments seperately.. DO NOT sleep together until cured (You will just pass it back and forth) So Javex and vacuum every surface in the house, also place clothes and bedding in garbage bags for minimum 3 days.. The wash in HOT water and Javex or coloured Javex.. Placing clothes in a Hot dryer, drying them twice, NOT once..
This worked for me as well as friends who have caught it.. I hope this works for you guys.. It sucks catching this..

Thought I would update, didn’t realize my previous story was sooo long., apologies for that.

Ufortunatley I am not clear of the critters just yet, but are miles better. I found the 10% sulfur dried my skin out alot, so changed to the 5%. and just use it as spot treatment. At first alot of the gritty things would came out, also the itching reduced a lot. I still boil all the laundry, before washing. and bag each item once dried. I shower twice per day like clock work, no harsh rubbing just quick to wash any surface bugs off, and wear fresh clothes after.

I have given up on ironing, vinegar, lemon juice, lice shampoos and gloves now.

it’s slow progress but positive, good luck to you all.

African Tumbu fly. I was wrongly diagnosed 5 times. I treated for scabies but to no success. I noticed that “scabies” began to fly. I wore flip flops everyday, in my car on the floor I noticed larvae, and a couple began to fly. It looked like a microscopic fruit fly. I wondered why nothing was working, since I treated for fleas, lice, and scabies. While some of the treatment was helping it was not curing. I spent countless hours in the jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. That helped a lot. I could feel them around my feet and ankles/shins trying to get out. I took Apple Cider Vinegar baths, then lathered up with Flaxeseed oil.

I also used permithrin lotions, went to a horse feed store to buy the 10% solution to mix it with lotion, also purchased ivermectin paste and made my own capsules. This feeling of things crawling under my skin sickens me. I was tired of spending the money and going to emergency twice and the regular dr. Three times. I finally Googled bugs or insects that burrow in the human body. There I found numerous people with the same symptoms as scabies but could not cure it with the recommended therapy. It said to treat the fly infestation you have to put Vasoline from head to toe. It smothers them so they can’t breathe and when they come to the surface(I am wiping them away, (hundreds of them). I don’t feel the burrowing I did before. I have pimples that I know now are pockets of larvae. I am putting vasoline on them as well as an ointment called staphaseptic for infection. This is helping. I am also continuing the Ivermectin, since they do fly I have started treating everything with fly/gnat repellent. I was going crazy.

I still do not know for sure what they are, but what I’m doing is helping and I feel a thousand times better. I’m going to Public Health tomorrow since now I have hundreds of specimens. The vinegar baths helped but don’t poor directly on the skin, only in certain areas it would sting, but then saw burrow tracks. These things burrow just like scabies. I am in no way telling anybody what to do or to follow what I have done. This is what worked for me, or I should say working. Maybe this will shed some light on someones condition.

    Here we go…

Nine days ago, I had what felt like mosquito bites appear on my right hand and left arm. Itch? I scratched nearly down to the muscle! Soon, I had three ugly sores, and have been very careful in keeping them clean so they are healing nicely. Here is my current attack:

I began with a hot shower, with tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner. That did nothing.

Next, I tried Dawn Dishwashing liquid – made a thick slurry with 1/4 cup soap and two teasoons of hot water so that it was runny but not foamy. I mixted it carefully with one finger and applied it to my entire body and kept adding it to keep it moist. I allowed it to dry right on my skin. There was no itching or bumps at all.

Used the vac on the third day, started washing and bagging all my stuff, but forgot to do the sheets and blankets! Took two hot showers with the tea tree oil soaps.

Day four: Bumps and itching started to return around midrif area and under breasts. Used noxema pads to wipe under breasts and used the dawn soap again. Washed and dried blankets and sheets and put pillows in plastic.

Day five: No itching – No bumps! Showered again with tea tree oil shampoo. Still have numerous healing marks.

Day six – Ran sheets and blanket through HOT dryer for 20 minutes. Noticed head felt itchy and back of neck (grrrrr)

Day Seven: Started all over again – Used dawn Dishwashing liquid (Pink, called Dawn Hand Renewal) for shampoo and body lotion – let it sit for nearly half an hour, washed sheets and blankets, then made a dawn spray for the carpet but it made a mess. Decided to get some Borax and try that on the carpets.

Day eight: Same as yesterday, but ran sheets and blankets through hot dryer again. Thanking all the powers that made us that we are on Spring Break (I work at a high school). Sprinkled Borax on carpets. Small amount of itching around EARS!!!

Day Nine (today): I KNOW the Dawn is working, but I have to try and keep doing this for a few weeks just in case. Guess what? I forgot to vac my computer and the computer table! I will update in a few days and please keep your fingers crossed…

I had scabies, and it didn’t take long to get rid of them. However, the itching went on about 2 and a half weeks, gradually getting better. I think I picked them up from either a hotel or from a woman I was dating (whom I never saw again after this episode).

I used permethrin cream in 3 applications, per my doctor. She also told me to make sure I get the cream under and around my toenails and fingernails using toothpicks. I think this may be something that people overlook, but the doctor stressed it so I think it’s important, especially with the itching since they can get in and around your nails.

Aside from that, I washed all of my clothing and bedding (I mean ALL of it, even the stuff that was already ‘clean’ on the off chance that I may have touched it or it wasn’t washed in hot water), even my pillows, 2 times in hot water, and dried for 90 minutes on high heat (maybe overkill, but these things can be persistent and I wasn’t taking any chances)

I also bought several cans of spray that was recommended by my doctor and the pharmacist. I don’t recall what it was (a pharmacist should be able to help), but it was powerful smelling and I had to get out of the house for a while after spraying. I sprayed everything, carpets, furniture (took cushion covers off and washed them, sprayed the foam inserts and in every crack corner and crevice), and my truck. I mean EVERYTHING, I think I used 6 large cans of that spray…I was kind of freaked out and disgusted and wanted to make damned sure everything was dead. Then I vacuumed the house thoroughly.

Every day until I was convinced they were gone I would only sit in one chair that I sprayed regularly, and washed my bedding and pillows daily as well as spraying the mattress.

After the first cream treatment I noticed that they stopped spreading. I was also on antibiotics to prevent a mild skin infection, which was caused from the itching, from spreading. After the second treatment the bumps started to recede and it was clear that nothing new was popping up. After the third treatment I was pretty sure they were all dead but I remained vigilant for about a week and a half with the spraying and sitting in one chair while I was up.

The itching continued and consumed my sleep for another 2 and a half weeks, but the rashes and bumps were clearing up nicely and any skin infection from the itching cleared up with the antibiotics. I had some minor lingering itches for just over a month, and was occasionally paranoid that I may not have got them all, every minor pimple or ingrown hair freaked me out. It all eventually went away though.

It was a horrible experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Just thinking about it has me itching all over. My only saving grace was that I wasn’t working during the month that I dealt with this. I quarantined myself in my house to avoid contact with anyone, I felt disgusting. The lack of sleep was causing depression and exhaustion. It was a nightmare.

I saw a doctor today because I have an itchy rash on my groin, stomach and neck (by the way, going to see a doctor in and getting medication in England is free). I was prescribed with a cream, Permethrin, to treat the rash and kill the scabies mite. The rash is dry and flat… It doesn’t bleed or weep. The itching is almost gone even though I haven’t used the cream yet.

I live in Sydney, Aust, and caught scabies from a aged care facility 3-4 weeks ago. I used a pyrethrin cream then a week later I used a lotion, which I diluted to include treating my head as they were biting my eyelids, ears and below my hairline on my neck. My husband had to do the same.

I was forced off work for a week and now I have them again because the facility still has them! So I now have just bought the cream again, I did get rid of them the first time – all itching had gone until I came into contact with infested residents at the nursing home again!

There has been talk of some scabies being resistant to some treatments, which seems to be the case with many of the people in this forum, although I don’t believe I have that type thank God. I am shocked at some of the extremely toxic treatments some of you are sharing as well.(unfortunately desperation can force us to extreme measures)

Another thing, mange can be tansmitted to humans but the female mites will die eventually without laying eggs on you, so treating the animal is important since they are the host where the breeding occurs transmitting the hatched mites.

I got scabies last year and had them for several months before I saw a Dr. At first I thought it was chiggers and expected the itching to go away in a week or so. But it didn’t. They started out as small red dots here and there on my feet and legs. Then they turned into little lines, where they had burrowed. Then those lines turned into awful rash looking scabs where I scratched desperately. (especially the tops of my feet) I tried all sorts of things including carb cleaner, rubbing alcohol and scrapping them with a knife to try and dry up, scrape off, or kill whatever was making me itch so bad.

I never really have been one to go to the dr but my gf had an appointment and i went with her and had the dr take a quick look. He immediately decided they were scabies and put the permetherin cream on her prescription form so we could use her insurance. (awesome dr) I took a hot shower and covered my body head to toe with the cream, cleaned all my bedding etc. I left it on for 24 hrs. Then a couple weeks later I noticed they hadnt gone away, so I did it again. At this point i started researching scabies. The permetherin cream is insanely expensive without insurance and my tube was getting low so i scraped the spots with a knife, periodically cleaning it with hot water, then used rubbing alcohol and spot treating the spots with the cream. After about a week of doing this they started clearing up, until they went completely away. It was so nice not having those guys making me itch at night.

Well my peace lasted a good 4 months or so and now they have returned. As soon as i started feeling the itch at night I ordered 2 bars of sulfur soap and started putting alcohol on at night. I also covered the areas with hand sanitizer that is alcohol based. I’m hoping this time around I can get rid of them sooner. The first night I got the soap i took a shower and washed with it after washing with my normal soap. I tried to let it kinda set in before rinsing it. I did this for a couple days, well this is day 3 of using the soap and I took my shower and washed with the soap and I layed in bed and they started itching, so I thought this isn’t working quite how I want, I got up and covered my legs in rubbing alcohol, then I took the sulfur soap and wet it, lathered it up and put it all over my legs and butt and let the lather dry on my skin. I’m going to try doing it this way for a bit and see how it works. If it doesn’t improve in the next week or so i’ll prob go see the dr and see what he says, thought I have a feeling I probably have more experience with the scabies then the dr at this point. My wife (we got married last month)added me to her insurance so the cream wont be $70 a tube.

Things to note about my experience with scabies… if that is in fact truly what i have. I believe it is anyway.

    1) My wife has never had them in the whole 4 or 5 months the first time i had them, and she hasn’t gotten them this second time either. I guess I’m just sweeter and they prefer to eat me!
    2) they stay below my wasteline, only on my legs (mostly the backs of them) and my feet, the tops of them, but not between my toes…
    3) they were never here before, then just kind of appeared, stayed for like 5 months then left for maybe 4 months and have now returned.

    In response to #116 Jo,
I read another post on a different site that talked about birt mites being black with little legs and this guy had a whole page devoted to his turmoils and trouble. Doesn’t sound to me like your problem is scabies.

just wanted to mention that the pharmaceutical companies don’t want you to get well because that would mean you stop buying their nerve-poison lotions. The Pharmaceutical companies donate to schools, write the books, and train the doctors. So the doctors are working for them.

take the power back to the people. Information is power. keep sharing.

Last year, I had scabies for 5 months. I got it from a close friend, who had been diagnosed with it but was too embarrassed to tell anyone what it was. It began on my hands, fingers, palms, webbings of my fingers, then on my toes and webbings of toes. At first, I was diagnosed with poison ivy and treated for it. Obviously didn’t work. As time went by, it began to crop up all over my feet, bottoms of feet, ankles, legs, knees, wrists, and stomach. The itching was absolutely treacherous. I would stay up all night, miserable, scratching my skin raw into a bloody mess. My doctor kept treating me for poison ivy. It got to its worst in the months of summer, and hiding it was impossible, and rumors began to spread at my work that I was a drug addict. At this point my legs, ankles, feet, wrists, and hands were visibly covered in giant bloody scabs. I was working at a grocery store at the time, and the low point was when a customer stormed up to one of my managers and informed him that there was an employee with “a disgusting rash” and demanded that I be sent home.

My boss was obviously really nice about it and told me that he was really concerned about whatever my rash was, and told me to get it checked out as soon as possible and just to keep them updated, and I was sent home for the day. I went to the ER immediately and was promptly diagnosed with scabies. Unbelievably mortifying – the doctors treated me like I was some kind of filthy disease. I was given the cream, which burned wicked bad, continued to itch for a few more weeks, finally the pain subsided. Unfortunately, I was left with some very ugly scars that looked like large dents in my skin.

I would not wish this on my worst enemy. It was an extremely painful, miserable, and humiliating experience. Just reliving this experience right now is making me feel paranoid and itchy. Ahhhhhh!

    hello everyone,
well i have had scabies for about 3 weeks now… i have done the permethrin treatment…but it was only 1% lotion…but it seems to be working… well at least im not breaking out in hives any more… let me tell you i almost went to the ER because of the hives i was having… then my mom told me that me and my brother had scabies when we were little..(that would have been nice to know about it or what it was awhile back) but anyways…she kind of told me what she did and how she got rid of them… so what i have been doing: i went online to Web MD (really good place to get info on scabies and treatments that you can order) so got this treatment called ScabiesKiller… which is all natural no chemicals no rashes or burning…. Tea Tree oils and other stuff like that OH and helps with the itching…. and it comes with Slufur soap which really helps…

then i went to walmart got Equate Bedding Spray which has 50% of Permethrin in it…(get a lot of bottles because they not that big) when you get it spray everything!!! floor, Beds, couches, car…EVERYTHING!! then vacuum… a lot… wash all your cloths and bedding in hot water…. any clean clothes that are in you dresser throw in dryer for 30 mins and put back after you do the treatment… the treatment i have i had to keep putting it on like 3 times a day which really sucks but it helps… so every time i came home from work i would do the treatment then change into clean clothes i washed the day b4 and then wash the clothes i was wearing again… a lot of work but it is working…. and now im still itchy but from what i was reading i will feel that way for awhile… AND another good thing to do is have everyone that is living with you do the treatment… yea its going to be hard for them to do it cuz they dont think they have it but it takes about 6 weeks b4 they start itching and rashes and hives…. and let me tell you i have been telling my roommate to do cuz i am not going to get reinfected cuz of them… they keep saying there not going to do but now they are starting to get itchy all over and bumps and stuff….soooo…now they are thinking of doing it….

OH and another good thing to do is take some benadryl that will help with the itching and knock you out so you can get some sleep!!! i have been in so much suffering for the past 2 and a half weeks and the steps i have taken are seeming to work… but now im an insomniac now…but i have some sleeping pills to help with that now…well that’s my story and some info and advise so hope it helps anyone who reads….

I just had a doctor (who I went in to see about recurring foot pain after a broken bone last year) diagnose me from ACROSS the room with scabies.
    Can this be correct??
I have been having recurrent insect/spider bites averaging at least one a day since November 1st. The initial bites were raised with 2 puncture wounds in the center with a whitened skin portion about 1/2 inch in diameter and reddened skin with slight swelling extending up to 5 inches in diameter on my arms (one on my trunk was 5 by 17 before I went into the ER and was diagnosed with cellulitus and put on oral antibiotics) with intensive itching relieved best by ice, but also benadryl, atarax, and calamine lotion. I had 2 other visits to the ER for cellulitus – one in each hand before the end of the year. These wounds ended when I killed a spider living on my desk – caramel colored with metallic yellow spots.
I received other bites – I believed to be bites from common house spiders – had at least 50 in my laundry room. I was told my wounds could not be from spiders because they commonly only bite once – and was brushed off when I said I entered and left the area at least 40 times a day and was disturbing the spiders. I even brought in samples.
The first team of dermatologists said that they could not tell what the bites were (emergency appointment took 10 weeks) but that I had extremely sensitive skin.
Subsequently I was determined to be Vitamin D deficient (taking 50,000 units a week cleared up most of the itching and reactions).
After another outbreak, I was seen by another team of general doctors, dermatologists and infectious disease specialists. General consensus was some sort of attenuated (extreme) reaction to whatever was biting me. Cultures were taken. No MRSA, no staph, no mention of scabies.
More bites – this time red conical swellings that itched and had a single entry point. I started finding little flying bugs the size of a grain of short rice – like a skinny unbloated tick. When mashed they were filled with blood. We fumigated the house. Within 2 weeks most bites ceased.
Afterwards found that all but little brown spiders were dead.
It has now restarted – but looking like mosquito bites this time – but with a persistence of the welts and some itchiness for a week or so – instead of the 18 to 24 hours for a mosquito bite (this is with antihistamine treatment).
The newest doctor dismisses my comments about the differences in the bites and says that spiders do not bite more than once so therefore I must have scabies. No one else in the house has this problem – or my allergies.
All bites have been only where the skin is exposed (arms, legs, hands, feet, neck, face and gap at the trunk sometimes). When I wear socks and shoes, long pants, long sleeved shirt, latex gloves and Deep Woods Off – no bites at all.
No itching at night at all – unless a bite appears.
    How can this be scabies????

i agree with the bleach baths, they work. another remedy that worked for my family is diamateous earth. it kills scabies and other pests by drying out their bodies. since it isn’t a poison the scabies will not become immune to the treatment. it can be bought at a hardware store for about $10.00. wear a face mask and apply to your body, reapply after bathing. it may itch your skin but you will kill the scabies that lurk on your dermis. you can also apply it to a dust mop for tile or wood floors. it can be applied to car mats and inside shoes.
my only question is how do you know when you are cured?

I got scabies from my sister who is in a nursing home. I was told by a nurse not to report them to the health dept because if the home was shut down everyone would lose thier jobs, and my sister would have to find a new place to live. I passed it to two friends (not so sure I have friends anymore!)
I threatened (well mentioned that a friend told me to sue the home) but I have no medical proof, and the nursing home policy is that the scabies could come from almost anywhere! But they had dome a punch biopsy and told me she did not have any. NOT TRUE. and stupid me sat on the edge of her bed, the itching started on the outer side of my thighs, which was closest to her in the bed.

After I mentioned the word “sue” they found a new PA and started her on Permethrin cream and Ivermectin once a week for four weeks, then three times a week for three months, then twice a week for three more months. She has been so miserable, she has a degenerative brain ailment that makes it hard for her to understand. But she has been itching for months, I would go in and they would say ” I haven’t seen her itching, I could see her from the nursing station, rubbing her back against the wheel chair.

Now I am on my second pair of permethrin treatments, the friends passed it back to me after the first treatment. I do have the $12 microscope, and I expressed one mite out of an eruption before I did the treatment, she suffered some damage being popped out of the small crater in my skin, lost some legs, but clearly was what we have pictured here. And clearly seen by the naked eye. Not identifiable, but clearly a tiny white hard lump.
The person who said they become like golden raisins was right, I have (four days after the elimite stuff) seen several surface today. I put them under the scope, the first one was just a golden clear blob, but the second clearly (and this is only 100x enlargement, no high power necessary) had a “mouth” area and the remains of a leg.

I even found some hanging on my skin, carefully pulled them off, not easy, and they lost more parts, but were identifiable as mites.

I am worried about my sister, due to her brain being compromised already, having a reaction (not measurable by any means) to so much ivermectin. She may just become more confused, (which the home will attribute to her gradually degenerating cerebellum (sp.) but her quality of life with the itching had to have some help.

My self, I am still having bouts of itching, and looking forward to the second treatment. I talked with some people at the Center of Desease Control, they have a 72 hour away from clothes policy, not sure that could be long enough. insist on hot water to wash, which I do not have. I have been using bleach in the wash water, and setting them on soak for over an hour before continuing the wash.

I make things with fabric, and am very worried about the yds and yds of cloth being contaminated. But leaving that room shut up for a week. and praying!

I am so glad this forum exists, it makes me feel a little less crazy.

It takes a microscope to identify the mites, but not to see them, or the golden clear hard husks of thier dead bodies.

Please be kind to each other, we are all trying to survive this horror.

One more thing, I am in my sixties and have learned a few things.

Itching stopping is not a indication of being better, it only feels better.

ANY oil, cream, lotion that stops AIR from reaching the itchy spot will relieve itching. But these to not kill mites. (mites are survivers too!)

unless of course you submerge yourself in oil in a bathtub for three days, but you could die too, as your skin has to breath too. you might smother the mites and yourself.

Slather yourself down in olive oil at night to get some sleep.

    take care all.

use lice lice shampoo as lotion every/other night. it helps although it may take a few weeks. also look up an insecticide called spectracide 3x permethrin concentrate containing 45% permethrin that u can use to spray stuff down although you dont wanna come in contact with this stuff until it dries or inhale it while it’s airborne. i read alot about neem oil but there’s one thing i can’t find… anyone saying it worked other than what sites post as part of their sales pitch.

I have been battling scabies for 4-months now since my 5-year old brought them home from school. We have done the permethrin 5% treatments 4-times with the exception of the baby …he has only been treated twice because the Dr. doesn’t feel safe reapplying him more than that because he is only 11 months old.It started out as just itching in my 5-year old and it continued for weeks with no breaking out.I assumed it was dry skin so I was spending loads of money on expensive lotions to apply to her skin. Then I started breaking out in what I thought was spider bited on my stomache. They continued to worsen as the days went by ubtil eventually i lokked like I had the chicken pox.The bites scabbed over and still were very itchy. My husband works out of town so when he got home he was itching very badly but only had a few tiny pin prick looking scabs on him.It went on for about another two weeks thinking now it was the detergent I was using .I finally said enough is enough and took myself and my daughter to the Dr. They took one look and said you all have scabies!!! I freaked out completely! The 10-month old had developed blisters on his feet by now so we took him the next day and sure enough he had it too. This has been going on since March my husband seems to be better and my daughter except for itching every now and then.Me and the baby are another story…I have never stopped breaking out even through all the 4 treatments of permethrin …The itching subsided for about a month and I would only get a few bumps here and there but as of three days ago the itching is back and so is the breaking out.The baby now has what looks like insect bites all over his stomache and back. Can anyone PLEASE help me I feel like I’m loosing my mind with all of this.I feel horrible when I have to apply the permethrin creme to the kids because I’m afraid of what it can do to them.

Hello again, Unfortunatley I am still not clear, it must be a good two years now. Although I believe I have reached a sort of equilibrium. I keep researching and have picked a 12 bucks microscope. I don’t get the spots and rashes very often, but tend to get more crawling sensations under my skin and some sharp needle type pains, and localised itching. I think I never let it get to the stage of break out. Since I know the mites to live on me I have stopped boiling my clothes before washing. I still do daily maximum wash of my bedsheet and all clothes, I never wear anything twice and it goes straight into the washing machine ready for the next wash.

I tried three months at a health club, daily swimming, saunas, jaccuzzi even sun bathing but the problem is still there today.

I am back on the vinegar and gloves regime, daily mopping and vaccuming. I still use the sulfur as it does seem to reduce the symptons and clear some areas, sometimes.

Now the interesting part. My scabies I believe is the complicated type, as referred to by some doctors, although my last visit the doctor referred to my problem as delusional, so I continue to self care. Doctors say wash hands before and after eating. I noticed after I washed and dried my hands a few seconds later some tiny objects would extrude. I looked at these under the microscope and found them to be elongated but full of tiny fibers appearing in a formed pattern as if some form of cocoon, bonded by some sticky substance. I theorised and decided this must be the eggs as they didn’t move. The individual fibers looked exactly like the cotton fibers close up. Also when I apply vinegar to my hands these same items pop out, and the symptons reduce. I don’t think the adult mites pop out, and probably spend the entire life cycle producing these eggs that grow under the skin unless sort of extruded out, hence the itch cycles when the mites is moving about.

On one day i felt gentle bite like a tickle on my finger tip, I saw a white pin point size blob slowly disapear into my skin and then felt the sharp biting activity. I tried vinegar but it would not come out, sulfur, alcohol etc. However i kept the vinegar and sulfur and after a few weeks the discomfort was gone and during this time after the vinegar rub there would be a few white fiberous objects and always of a similar shape. So tiny but with the 100x mic I could always see the fiber bundles.

I did have one experience when I felt a sharp sudden twinge as if something big had popped out of my finger tip. I think it must have been an adult. After this there was no more pain on that finger. The other thing I have noticed is when I place my infected finger tip on my skin for a few seconds I start to feel activity in the finger as if something is going to come out, if I move my finger away and activity stops.

My conclusion to this is if we can find something to dissolve these fibers then I reckon we can kill the mites too. I know sulfur helps, but the mite on my shoulder muscle was there for at least 6 months, it must have gone really deep, but with persistent washing and treatment only a few eggs matured to make a home on another part of my body. these mites have lived in my ears, eye lashes, nose, as well as every where else, and I really mean every where.

When i feel an itch the alcohol pretty much stops it straight away, but the mites are so clever they can hibernate for days and days with out activity, hence I try to keep problem areas saturated with some form of cream. I usualy mix a little sulfur with my various moisturisers, because my twice daily showers seem to be stripping my skin of essential minerals.

Now I am begining to get an understanding of what is going on, I can keep searching to find something that will get deep enough into my skin to kill the mites with out damaging the skin, I think with bleach for my case my skin would burn before it reached the mites, and since the mites can shut off it would not be worthing risking. I might try the diatemous earth, although it is only a surface agent.

One day I hope to report I am clear and will share my solution because this is such a horrible way of life.

    Barryg,

Mites do not breathe through their mouth. They breathe through little holes in their body. Hence, understanding this concept is the key to eradication.

After taking a shower, oil up your entire body twice a day with a vegetable oil, like olive oil, before going to bed and after waking up. The mites will smother from the oil clogging up their tiny breathing holes when they attempt to walk on your body.

It is also just as important to scrub under your fingernails and toenails with an old toothbrush four or five times a day. This is the only place they can hide if you are oiled up everyday. I recommend getting some oil under your nails too.

Follow this advice, make sure your bedding is cleaned daily, and you will start seeing improvement in a few days.

OK – Everyone who is battling this, I know it REALLY is tough – our family got infected from a visiting house guest (Yeah, that one is off the list for life!) – we kicked it but it takes TIME and EFFORT. Most failure with the creams seems to be from not applying it all over your body, you have to get everything below your neck with topical creams. After a few false starts, this is what worked for us – we ordered a supply of 10% sulfur cream (de la cruz Pomada de Azufre) and Sulfur soap directly from Alivio Vital in California, online. Got 4 bars of the soap and 12 2.6 oz jars of the cream for about $58 I think. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH, the time it takes to reorder can be enough time to reinfect. Use the soap at least once a day (with a scrubbie, it lathers up to the consistency of shaving cream, leave it on for 5-10 minutes while you clean the inside of the bathroom or dance around or read a magazine on a shelf).

I found the long scrubbies with rope at each end (from our local $ tree store) helped get your back if nobody is around to do it for you. I kept a few sets of long knit cotton pants and tops as house clothes for the duration – after rinsing off in shower and drying, apply the cream all over your body and put on the cotton clothes. I did this for a week, I had a really bad infestation especially in my legs and lower back, after a week I put cream only on my legs and if I felt any other itchy spots, and after two weeks, no more itch but I still put cream on my legs once a day (before then had reapplied at night before bed). I was fortunate to be able to work from home, but even when I went out, I was able to wear loose clothes and didn’t have a problem with stains. I would not wear anything tight. The first 4 days are the worst. You do not need to apply the cream heavily, just a light amount like moisturizer, but get it all over. I continued to apply daily for two full weeks after all symptoms gone, in case there were any remaining eggs under my skin. The whole process took a month – unpleasant, but nothing compared to the four prior months when we could not get correctly diagnosed and were itching like crazy. Good luck to all.

Well ..I have to laugh and cry because just reading everyone’s comments finds a little of me in every one..Yes I’ve been told I’m crazy by my kids, husband and doctor. I’ve been alone battling these bugs for 6 months now. I’ve cleared up then I get reinfested again because I know my grand daughters have them. They are not showing signs yet and my daughter refuses to talk to me about it..Now I know the dogs have them too.. I see with a magnifying glass little sparkles in the sunlight on my arm and black dots. Wondering if anyone sees them also.

I’ve been using neem oil and dabb permethrim in new bumps found. What helps me sleep is the neem oil and steaming my bed and pillow.. I bought a steamer and steam everything as they do not like heat. I’ve been using borax on the flrs and vacuum too.. My problem is the big mites I live with (family) nobody belives me..I’ve had scabies yrs before so I knew instantly what I had, so I bought some cream right away, now the doctors mad and won’t help me even tho I put a scabie in mineral oil to look at under a microscope. Yes there have been a few nights where a few glasses of wine helped the depression.. I’m driving to the next town maybe a doctor will look at my specimen. Hopefully then everyone will get on board and believe their crazy mom. ps I steam my shoes and it helps..

I got these little guys and man did it suck. I went through one tube of pemethrin cream and did not get rid of it. I shaved my entire body and soaked in a bleach bath and put the pemthrin cream back on. I was no longer itching two days later. I’m a hairy dude and I don’t think the cream was making proper contact with the skin. Shave your body and then apply cream. As for the bleach bath I’m not sure if that helped or not but did it any ways.

As I read previous entries, I took note of what seemed to work for several of the people leaving comments about their experiences with scabies. It is unfortunate that prescription medications do not usually work. Likewise, using bleach and stuff made for horses is not quite discerning. I am allergic to flea bites so totally know what a bitter itch can be. This said, I can certainly understand going to the extremes.

I, my husband, daughter, two sisters, my sister’s husbands, their kids (5 total), my mother and aunt have all be exposed and possibly still have scabies. My husband and mother have diabetes and definitely need to be careful about getting scores infected. Our problem for the most part has been re-exposure to these awful parasites. We live in separate households and every time we visit each other the cycle starts again. I’m really not sure if I itch because I’m anxious about the scabies or because I have them. The truth is I don’t want them. I hate them! I’m ready to kill them all. Like I said I’ve taken notes and based on that, I’ve placed an order for some of the stuff mentioned. I will post again to update my findings. This will be the Scabies Extermination Project.

My journey with these buggers started in late July (it is now September) when I visited my mother in a nursing home. She had a terrible skin irritation. I hadn’t seen her for a while (another state) so there was lots of close contact. My sister, who lives there, also got the buggers. (The nursing home adamantly denies that my mother has scabies but I know they are treating her. I actually think she has the Norweigan kind-and THAT is HORRIBLE).

I started getting the actual bites about 3 weeks after I came home. I was on a camping trip and suddenly felt intense itching around my waist. Because of my mother’s condition, I had been watching for potential problems but had no idea what I was looking for. Then my sister told me she had been diagnosed with this so I went to the doctor immediately.

While I am not 100% over this yet – I have made great progress. I read this site about a week and a half ago and realized I had not done NEARLY ENOUGH to get rid of these buggers. But this is what I am doing that seems to be working for treatment of my skin and the itch:
Promethrin 5% cream – have done this twice now. I waited the 7 days between because of gestation period but I had had few new bites. I also spot treated with this along the way.
Neem Oil with Aloe Vera gel combined with a little tea tree oil – I mix these together and put it on every day. Tea tree oil stinks to high heaven so remember to use only a little bit. It smells like intense pitch from a pine tree.
Neem soap-lather up daily, let it sit and wash off. I also scrape my finger nails on it and let the soap sit under my nails after I shower. It doesn’t show at all and eventually washes out. My whole family is washing with Neem soap – and nobody else has gotten this.
For itching- benadryl gel & pills, cortaid – and the very best thing has been ice packs around my waist, where the majority of my bites are.

The biggest thing I did that really helped a lot was to visit an outdoor hot mineral spring in the mountains and sit in it for hours.

After reading this site, I also realized I had not been doing enough around my house. So I got a big plastic matress bag (Target has them) and encased my whole matress in plastic. I had already bagged all my blankets and pillows that I couldn’t put in the wash and bought new pillows. (This whole “Scabiels Extermnation Project” (lol) has cost me probably $300 so far).

I wash every piece of clothing I wear in HOT water – daily. At first I was changing my sheets daily but now I do them every couple days. I don’t use any of the handtowels in my house-I use paper towels.

Interestingly, although my husband and two sons also visited my mother in the nursing home – they have not gotten this. However, I am certain this scabies because I went to the doctor – and because I had already researched every possible bite or rash this could be and nothing else looks like this exactly. Even though I went camping and could be exposed to ticks- this is not ticks because I have many bites and small ones appear out of nowhere on a regular basis.

Also-the itch – oh my gosh I have never had an itch like this. It stings and itches and I told my sister I feel like a “Ms. Packman” game – I feel chomp chomp sometimes. It is horrible!

I also wash my hair with the Neem soap by the way.

I am glad someone posted where to get sulfur soap. I couldn’t find it at the health food store so I will go for that if necessary. I will also keep you posted. But so far, so good.

I had to post this because some of these posts frankly scared the you know what out of me (wish it could scare these buggers out of me!).

I wanted to tell you all as well that my sister bought that stuff called STOP on the Internet and developed a horrible allergic reaction to it.

I’m sure I will be back…. good luck to all of you.

    [post 1]- shell
Today I was diagnosed with scabies, this is my story:

since the middle of July I have suspected that I might have it after searching online. Still I was very confused. When I went to the dermatologist in August he looked at it called it excema and gave me clobetesol topical solution. I felt a huge stress come off my shoulders, because I was living in fear of giving scabies to loved ones. Since I work at the pharmacy, my pharmacist/boss didn’t have the topical solution so he gave me the ointment for clobetesol. The ointment didn’t help at all, and when I got the topical solution it didn’t help much either. The bumps had started to get uglier, redder, and bumpier. My dad told me to see another dermatologist one that my bro & sister had gone to for their acne. So i went, and this doctor carefully listened to everything I said, scraped some of it, and then came back to tell me that he thought it may be scabies. He prescribed me some atarax/hydroxizine 10 mg since he thinks I’m allergic to scabies mite, and he gave me Elimite (permethrin) 5% cream, & triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.1 % to stop the itching. The elimite cream is the cream you put once all over from neck to toe nails for once a week. It is usually taken for two weeks, so a week from today i would have to rub my body again with this elimite cream, and then 8 hrs i have to wash it away. I put it on at 6:30 pm today (well yesterday) & at 2:30 I will take shower and hopefully wash those suckers away!
I have noticed that I feel somethin crawling inside my skin like it is moving, kinda feels tingly and ticklish. I think that means it is dying, I hope so!

When I first notice these mysterious bumps on me they were actually very very small, probably 1 mm in size maybe even smaller, and they were just slightly red, enough to notice though, and it was not itchy at all. however after a week it started to itch, and then it just got worse every week, to the point I am at now.

It is the MOST ANNOYING THING in my life, and has made me so irritated! Hopefully it leaves, and I can live normally again. Never will I take my life for granted, I just want to go back to the days without scabies. I still do not know WHERE I could have gone it, and I have not infected any loved ones, but I live in fear of doing that, and being re infested by these critters. The thought of it living in my skin terrifies me. It is enough that it has stolen my sleep, but it does cause one to feel such sadness. I think scabies are very underrated when they just call it something simple to get rid over. PEOPLE IT IS A BIG DEAL! It’s terrible. I have an appointment three weeks later, and I will come back and let everyone know whats going on with my scabies.

Hope everyone gets rid of them.

but i just wanted to say that after a week of the eliminate cream i believe they are gone. i was extra clean, and did use some advice from this site (Clorox, drying clothes in extra hot, shoes in the freezer) :) which i think helped me the most. i just put my second treatment of the cream now and i’m glad to say that i won this battle. i hope you all will not give up, and not let these crittors get to you. do anything possible to get rid of them, you are the master, they are the slaves. =D

    Well I am back.
    And still buggered up.
This has been a horrible nightmare. What is really really strange is that my sister and I both have this – only she lives thousands of miles from me. I was out to visit her as I said before…my mom is in a nursing home. My sister calls me twice a week so we can compare our “progress”.

After I thought I had fixed this problem, I started getting new and different “bites”. Whereas before they were large and mainly on my stomach – now, these very small bites are on my arms, behind my knees, on my chest & neck and across my lower back. They look like ant bites now…tiny but VERY itchy and sometimes I can feel the stink of biting.

I actually went to a dermatologist 2 weeks ago who barely looked at me and proclaimed I had bedbugs. People- this is NOT bedbugs! I inspected my bed throughly and it is encased in plastic. And these bites are not like bedbug bites at all.

My sister and I are at our wits end. Today I learned about Morgellons Disease (http://www.morgellons.org/)…. holy cow that better not be it. But I don’t have those little fibers.

I did the permethrin TWICE. I covered myself with teatree oil and neem soap…. My skin hurts from all the crap I have put on it. So I decided to let it rest a few days to see if maybe I am allergic to all the crap!

This has been going on SO long now and I just cannot believe it. If anyone has any ideas, let me know! I’ll go back to the doctor AGAIN… but I feel like they are brushing me off. This is costing me a fortune. I believe I am up to at least $1,000 in doctor visits, water to wash clothes endlessly, creams, long distance calls, new pillows etc…. you name it I have done it.

    Help!

Oh, I forgot to say that nobody else in my household has had even a HINT of this. And that makes me wonder a lot. Yet, I cannot find anything online that would make me think this anything but scabies.

Also, the new rash has spots where there seems to be little things under my skin that are not red. Bumps that make my skin look all bumpy in some places. My sister said the same thing!

    #176. October 8th, 2009 at 12:26 pm

    Good afternoon folks,

Just a little run down of my own situation. About 3 months ago I began to notice a lot of rashing either side of my testicles in the fold of the inner thigh. These rashes were persistent and eventually became intolerably itchy, and also painful (where the scratching had brought about secondary infection). I continued on with this, maintaining a healthy standard of hygiene until a few weeks after I decided that the problem could be STD related. I journeyed to the clinic for a full check up and the doctor had diagnosed me with a fungal infection. This, at the time was highly likely to be true, but of course, there was an underlying problem. The doctor presribed Daktacort.

2 weeks after the check up, I was due for a routine appointment. The legions had not gone after countless applications of the cream, although the infection region had returned to a relatively normal state, there were still red marks. The doctor again, prescribed another tube of Daktacort and sent me on my way. Meanwhile, a week or so earlier, my girlfriend (oh no) had been noticing what looked like bites, and some mild rashing particularly around her genitalia and inner thighs. We dwelled uncomfortably before having her check into the clinic too. By this time we were convinced that it was a form of the HSV-2 virus (Herpes) and suffered some incredibly miserable periods during what was before a perfectly happy healthy and sexually active relationship for the previous 6 months of being together.

Her check in was two weeks after my routine check up. I accompanied her, but remained outside of the room on the premise that the doctor may have an alterior and influence opinion with someone else present. She later walked out of the room, with her head sunk to the floor, her eyes welling up, and a look of certain doom on her face, before almost storming off with a look of resentment in her eyes. Scabies.

Acting fast, I had to march back into the clinic and advise them that I was a sexually active partner of a patient who had just been diagnosed with scabies. They managed to arrange an unnapointed session with the doctor, and he prescribed Derbac-M (as with my girlfriend). The advise offered was to deep treat your clothing, betting and other material made belongings on the highest possible setting your washing machine will deal with, and tumble dry them on high heat. This, he said should kill the mites and the eggs. The Derbac formula was to be used once, applying thickly and generously all over the body. The doctor advised not to use this on the face, however further research indicates that it is safe to do so (and rightly, as the product is used for head lice too). My level of beleif in this doctor however, was waning, as twice he had misdiagnosed the ailments and one week later I, and my girlfriend were still stuck with these pesky scabies mites.

Adding insult to injury, my girlfriend later realised that her youngest child of 4 years had shown bites on his wrists, which is a common place for scabies to start. She has a history of depression, and having gone through a divorce not so recently started again to feel the soul destroying affects of guilt, isolation and despair. As much I tried to comfort her, nothing worked. Our relationship took a serious tumble and we were apart a couple of weeks, with nothing more than bickering and arguing as communication and blame being slung back and forth. Two weeks ago, we worked things out despite the immense pressure on our togetherness and vowed to beat off these foul soul destroying creatures.

The use of Derbac has certainly helped, but there’s the continuing doubt that these things are still living in my shoes, my bed, my clothes and even still on my skin. The itching persists (though this is said to be a side affect of the actual chemical). My greatest worry, having had these things for a while and not knowing is that there is a high likelyhood that they have been passed onto other members of the household (my grandparents) whom, given their age could really make expelling this problem incredibly difficult. I have kept to my own quarters, not used any towels that aren’t mine, and continued to hot wash everything myself. Another point I will make is that despite doctors and manufacturers recommendation to only use Derbac-M once a week, I have ignored it. I’ve been through 1 and a half bottles of the stuff now, and as yet have not experienced any obvious health problems. I do not recommend this however desperate you are, but then, yes, I am desperate myself for the sake of my life, and my relationship.

A little note to everyone who is suffering this God-awful trauma, don’t give up hope. Continue to be clean, routinely mop your floor with thick bleach, clean your keyboard, mouse, television remote, door handles, PC monitor buttons etc (you get the picture). Derbac-M is available without prescription from any good chemist/pharmacy, but this stuff in the UK will set you back roughly £10 a bottle. It’s enough for 3 or 4 full body applications and does seem to do what it says it will. Don’t lose faith when you still feel compulsed to scratch yourself even after treatment. This is just the pesticide irritating your skin.

I will come back in a few weeks to let you know how I have got on, and sincerely wish everyone suffering this problem the very best of luck in your endeavours. You have my sympathy and my support if you wish to chat.

    Regards,

    Louis.

I would strongly advise that you only use treatments for scabies recommended by medical professionals. Natural treatments, using substances that are definitively not harmful to the skin or body, are your choice. There are certain ones that may have some action against mites, but few will be as comprehensive as prescribed treatments. The effective use of treatment, commonly topical permethrin 5%, and disinfection of exposed items (see below) is adequate to eliminate scabies.

The scabies mite is fragile and cannot survive for extended periods of time outside of the human body. The most generous time given by medical experts is 1 week, with many such as the Centre for Disease Control stating 3 days. It is prudent to clean linens, clothing, and any other items commonly touched for extended periods of times.

If you have failed treatment 2 times, you are either applying the treatment incorrectly, reinfecting yourself, or you do not have scabies. Reinfection is highly uncommon if the treatment is applied correctly and reasonable household disinfection measures are undertaken. You do not have to steam clean your furniture, apply three pesticide sprays, purchase vinyl covers, and so forth. Contemplate how widespread scabies would be if they were that easily spread and could survive. Skin-to-skin contact, or contact with recently exposed items, are the causes.

Incorrect treatment application is often overlooked as a cause of reinfection. You must ensure you use the treatment thoroughly on all exposed skin from the neck area below. You should particularly focus on areas that have visible lesions from scabies. It is critical that hard to reach areas, e.g. webbing between hands and the genital area, are covered. If you used oral ivermectin, especially twice, the problem is definitively not treatment failure. Ivermectin is a powerful droad-spectrum anti-parasitic and those who claim to have used it many times (alongside household disinfection) without results are likely suffering from something else.

I thought I I work in a nursing home, I noticed a few people scratchingand with little red bumps on them, I tried to stay away from them, then one day one of the guy resident puts his arm around my waist, I tried to inch a way nicely because he seemed to have a skin infection. At the time I was fighting a yeast infection, and respitory infection. I started itching and the doctor said he saw nothing, two days severe itching, feeling like bugs crawling all over me, all through the night. I went back to a different doctor who suspected and still didn’t see a nyhthing til I showed her the bumps on my chest, after seeing them she was pretty sure I had them.

I suspected years ago I had a bug skin infection and washed and bathed in body lice stuff and made my husband do it to the same time as me and washed everything. I was also working in a nursing home. When ever I did not work in a nursing home, those years I would be free of bug bites.

Now all because a nursing home that I work at now, a resident decide to put his arms around me, I know this is how, nobody in my house has symptoms, nobody I no are itching and it was two weeks ago when he put his hands and arms on me. I was on guard worried that he may have gave me his skin infection, since it look like he had bug bites on him and my worry came true.

What makes me mad is that he was not quarantined and he is still out close to people and about scratching with lots more red bumps on him. and he sits in the chairs we got to sit in.

It is almost unavoidable, resident just walk up and grab my hand, sometimes they go to fall and I have to catch them.

My husband is forced into one part of the house and my daughter is spending three days with grandmother and being made to stay in the same side of the house as days until my ymptoms are gone. I’m giving this a week. Tommorrow I will be bathing in sulfur soap and washing my hair with sulfur shampoo.
and every night before bed for the next week.
My doctor said lysol will work on the house.
I’m covered in the peremethin stuff and it does seem like that it is all that. I can feel bug bits while it’s on me and it has been some hours. Although it is not as much as before.

my goal is to get this bug off me in a week, or I will be making a fuss at the doctors office to give me something that actually work, I will not be taking no for an answer. It is bad enough that I have chronic asthma attacks right now, just got over phenomia, and tacacardia at times (my pulse rate too high at rest), high blood pressure and allergy attacks and now i’m itching like my body is under attack by an alien bug that is invisible.

If I feel like i’m still itching, I will be rubbing sulfur petroleum on me. I will do anything to get rid these.

I told her I know I have bugs on me, cause I can feel them crawling everything. They are are EVERY where on me.

It is true about it not matter how clean or dirty you are. Because me and my husband are very clean people and organized.

what also makes me mad is I told the doctor a week ago, thaqt I had strange itching wear my ears are, under my breast and vagina and she dismissed it saying she saw nothing, now there a bumps all over me and this new doctor says I do have scabies.

I can’t believe she tried to tell me I didn’t when I can actually feel the bugs crawling on me, like little creepy crawlers.

I notice they are trying to bit under my arms tonight, running to other places, cause the cream is making them sick.

this is the worst week of my life, worse than getting my gullblatter removed. I might have felt some pain but at least I was able to sleep without feeling like i have to bed border line over-dose with a sleeping pill. If I wasn’t afriad of awaking with my skin eating up and scratching my skin bloody in my sleep, I would take a sleeping pill.

    I scratch in my sleep!

I will pray for everyone who has this. you beat up yourself, when you fight these bugs.

    I pray you get sleep:)

I will post again and let you know what worked for me.

I began itching by late June (roughly 4 months ago)…i had gone to 3 walk-in clinics and met with 3 doctors, that all had a different thought on what my rash was. So i was refferred to a dermotologist. Right away he told me he thought i had scabies. For months i thought i had a simple rash when not knowingly i was actually the source of food and survival for these discusting little mites. Embarassing enough my boyfriend developed the rash and soon enough everyone around me found out about it. I have taking the ‘Nix’ cream 2 times, without it working. I am on my third time in possibly a month and a half. I have everything i lay/sit on plastic wrapped and i walk around throughout my house in sandles. I dont touch anything frabricated and i only have a very small pile of clothes that i am wearing. For the first 3 days, i wasn’t itching…but lastnight felt as if i got infected all over again.

The doctor wasn’t very thourough when explaining this annoying infestation.

Scabies can live 3-4 days on any surface without having a human host. (do not touch anything fabricated for 4 days!)
It would be wise to buy plastic sheets from hardware shops. cover your bed mattress, and anywhere you sit (if you have carpeted flooring, where rubber or plastic sandles throughout your house)
Wash all clothing you plan on wearing in hot water (if u have already taken the nix prior to laundry, where rubber gloves!)

Scabies has been an extreme stuggle to get arid of for me. I have broken down a few times due to it. I hope that i NEVER get it again.

I had an itch inside my leg near the ankle bone. I scratched and it got bigger and bloody. Didn’t think much of it. Now a few months later my legs seem to explode with red dots and grew fast. I went to the doctor who said it was scabies. Got Permethrin and treated them that night. I’ve taken 3 treatments so far a week apart. Also using citrus listereen in a genaric brand after showering with sulfer soap. After the listereen drys I put on a heavy coat of Tea Tree Oil. I’ also putting on Neem leaf and oil lotion for the dryness.I have red blotchy sores all over my legs and some on my arms. I also started treating them from the inside out. Garlic, Zymex 2, from my homeopathic dr.
which is a parasite killer. I’m using some detox pills from the health food store.

Trying to drink more water with fresh lemon juice. I’ve read that 50% of the population has some type of parasite, so getting the ones inside eliminated will help rebuild the bodies immunity. I’m washig clothes, sheets and towels everyday in hot water, borax, oxyclean and some bleach.Wiping down surfaces and steam cleaning furniture and carpets. I just got some orange oil to put a few drops on the bed. Someone mentioned somewhere that it helps to keep them off the bedding? Iplan on using some orange oil cleaner too.

Any way, getting to my question. After I put on the Tea Tree Oil today, I noticed quite a few black dots in the sores. I looked through magnifying glasses but could not tell if they were mites. I think they are. I dug a few out but couldn’t see any legs. Guess I need a microscope. Has anyone noticed these? Where I saw them was on the sores which are not swollen up like the used to be. for a while I was having a light yellow liquid oozing out of the sores which has pretty much stopped now. I never saw any black dots when the sores were swollen. So are they dead mites?

I am back and finally getting better after seeing 4 doctors. My sister had a biopsy done (no not a scraping) and FINALLY got the absolute diagnosis. By this time, we were both covered compelety with not only scabies bites but also what I think is a secondary infection. We were both prescribed a pill this time. It is working for me but not for her. I also used Bactine and oh my gosh, that cleared about about 25% of it literally over night. (The rash, that is). The doc gave me cortizone creams as well. I had the chills, and I was beginning to get foggy and disoriented from how bad it got.

I have to disagree with CWL somewhat. The permethrin does not always work. I used it 3 times—and believe me, I got every spec of my body.

The doctors kept looking between my fingers-I only got 1 bite there. I had them on my stomach, and all around my back and between my shoulder blades and a few on my chest. I had the big ones and the small ones. The two different types of bites had the doctors baffled – as if they have never seen this before. My GP yelled at me and sent me off with no help. (Yes, I got a new one).

I had a terrible ordeal (and so did my sister) with getting doctors to do any scraping or test of any kind. They all thought they knew what they were talking about. Between us my sister and I saw 7 different doctors – all with different answers. Two of them were dermatologists who told us not to worry. In the mean time here we are potentially infecting everyone we come into contact with. I have had this almost 3 months now so you can imagine!

The biggest deal about this is my mother in the nursing home – who has suffered with some mysterious rash for months on end. Getting them to do a scraping has been difficult but we are finally on the right path. I’m actually grateful I got this because it will help my sweet mother.

I will come back when I think I am 100% recovered.

after taking a shower and putting on the Listereen with a cotton ball, I noticed a small speck on the cotton ball. I got my reading glasses and a magnifying glass and saw something that looked like it had legs. I watched it for about 5 minutes and saw it borrow into the cotton ball. I had my wife look at at and she could see that it was moving deeper into the cotton ball.

She touched it and it starting moving more. I read that the female is larger than the male and can sometimes be visible without a microscope. So it looks like I still have actives mites after 3 treatments of the perm-cream. This sucks. My legs have been burning, but that might be better that itching. I have an appointment with the dermatologist next week.

The doctor that treated me said you can’t seen them with the naked eye. Bull! We that have been suffering with this have more experience than most doctors. We need to keep sharing our experience to help others deal with this problem. I sent a photo in but it’s not very clear. Hope to get better pictures to show the massive sores that developed from too much scratching.

Here is my experience with scabies. I won’t say where i caught it but i’m pretty sure it was from an infected bed. I noticed intense itching around my groin and scrotum. My hands got blistered and itchy. Itchiness would be in attacks the groin itching was nightmarish almost scratched a ball loose. Got diagnosed by a good doctor, thank you God and to all intelligent medical professionals. Doctors don’t fall into a paradigm on this.

These parasites are coming back and like every other problem are becoming resistant to the standard treatments. That being said people please don’t burn yourselves with full strength off the shelf bleach. I thought i was cured 10 months ago, alas nothing is so easy in life is it we are in a constant struggle as mortals. Been noticing itchiness on my face and scalp for a couple weeks around the nose and have dry skin patches on my face which happened with the first “infestation”. Theres a word that helps stigmatize this problem. So now this has to become a hobby as to how else can i/we get rid of these little c#!#!@#@#@s. I think the 20 mule team borax will help with the laundry it is a salt and should dry them out, took my first bath with it tonight.

Re infestation is everything with these things. Going to look for sulfur based products to try as well. I think the standard line that scabies only survive 72hours away from a human host is completely false and needs to be removed from any medical texts. Shoes and workboots are my next target. Thanks for the freezing the shoes advice up there. Going to sprinkle borax on everything, bed, pillow, carpet. For those of you trying to treat yourselves without permethrin and are not pregnant, don’t! You need to give them one thorough but kicking in my opinion to get them on the ropes then you need to keep poisoning them in any way possible but try not to poison yourself in the process please take care of your skin and don’t burn it off. And when you put the cream on don’t be scared put it in every nook and cranny you can find, in your nostrils, eyelids, earcanals everywhere, I definately feel more attention should be focused on the head area. These are parasites and they haven’t been reading the latest medical journals about what says should kill them.

Take a long hot shower. Apply rubbing alcohol all over your body watch private parts, burns. Apply in well vented area. Try not to breath in alcohol fumes. Not too much can live in menthol, Vick’s vapor rub penetrates deep into the skin. apply to any bumps. Be careful not to cover too much of your body with the Vick’s, but make sure to cover well beyond the bumps. Sleep in long pj’s.

I sympathise with all suffering from scabies.

I live in Fiji and out here scabies is very common. Anyways when i was diagnosed with scabies I had very itchy bumps on my elbows which started spreading to my fingers, wrist and finally the whole body. It was a nightmare! I spent sleepless nights itching and itching. I was asked to apply Permethrin 5% once a week and also treat my family-my husband and my 2 kids. The cream helped in killing the mites but has made my hands numb. I am also experiencing very severe joint/muscle aches which leaves me paralyzed for hours. My fingers and my ankes are swollen. I was prescribed Dolaren for this.

For my scabies I started using neem oil regularly. These natural remedies take time but boy do they help. I would apply neem oil with turmeric at night before sleeping and apply calamine lotion during the day. The calamine would cool my rashes and make it less itchy. I would also boil a lot of neem leaves in plenty of water till the water looks nice and green. Cool the water and have a bath with it. This helped a lot. I would wash our pillow covers, bed sheets, towels, clothes with boiling hot water every alternate day which helped in killing the mites. I would also apply neem oil on my kids(even though they didnt get it)after bath just to be on the safe side. USE A LOT OF NEEM!!!

Here we don’t get TRIPHALA but if one cn get hold of it it would help in clearing scabies. Do try it. Good luck to all. Its been a month since I was diagnosed with scabies and I am already feeling 99% better. The joint aches are still there and the docs are looking into that. They say it could be reactive arthritis. I am hoping the docs can treat me soon cz the pains are agonizing

I am back for what is now my regular ‘check-in” update. I am NOT over this yet. I got this in late July and started seeing bites mid-august. I have used permethrin, stromectal, sulfur cream, neem, tea tree oil. I wash absolutely everything I touch and wear in hot water daily. I have been to three doctors – one was a dermatologist.

I have even tried contacting the CDC to find out if there is a new epidemic of treatment resistant scabies because as I said before, my sister, brother and brother in law all have this and we all live in different states but visited my mother at a nursing home all at the same time. (John in So-Cal: I got this is So-Cal-have you tried contacting the health department?). And, my whole family that has this is experiencing the same thing as me.

Like some of you others-I started trying to figure out if I am reinfecting myself somehow. I sprayed my shoes, my car, my sofa where I sit often, my office chair (with that lice spray). I washed every throw blanket and never use the same one twice.

I am completely out of ideas and I wish we could get some doctors over to this board to read our experiences. We need a health department or someone to help us figure out why these things are not responding to treatment. I get better for a little while, then they come back slowly.

I was hoping to see new ideas here tonight…

Hello. I’ve had Scabies for a couple months now and I’ve applied 5% peremethin 3 times now. The 3rd time was a few days ago, so I’m still a bit itchy. It might help to know that heat will increase activity in the mites, so the itching will become more intense. I noticed that this was true after I went on a run, and when I got back I was the itchiest I’ve been since I got the infection.

Unless you will be exposing yourself to intense heat for longer periods of time (hot tub, sauna, etc), try not to increase your body temperature by too much, as this will make the itching worse. Take colder showers than usual and don’t do super intense workouts/runs/etc.

When I first visited the doctor, I was prescribed an antihistamine for the post-effects of using the cream. The pills worked well, so too ease the itching, it is a good idea to get antihistamines (eg Benadryl).

Ugh i feel the same way with the whole regret reading the people who have suffered for many many years, it freaks me out now because i couldn’t stand having this for any more months let alone years! It’s also giving me mood swings, and making life really completely suck. Couldn’t even be happy for Christmas or anything anymore and i’m so paranoid of going out places just in case i give it to someone or reinfect myself worse than i already am. And i hate when your on medication and you think your cured and then you see another small rash appearing and your like ‘here it goes again’

This is the second time around for me. Last time, I simply read. this time I will respond. I have a theory that the people you sleep with/live with who apparently don’t get them from you are simply just not allergic to them. I think they do have them, just aren’t itchy because they aren’t having an allergic reaction.

Last time, the lice shampoo thing worked. This time, no such luck. I have gone to putting bleach in the bath as well as tea tree oil in the bath and on my spots. By the way… it burns on the sores… so be prepared for that. I doubt pure bleach on an open sore would burn any less than the tea tree oil does. I also use olive oil at night. I tried the ivermectin horse paste, and it didn’t seem to do anything for me. I can’t find neem oil anywhere locally. I also did not find sulpher soap locally , I suppose I will have to order them online.

The bleach does knock them back. I think one almost needs an internal and external combined method to get rid of the hard cases… They only live in the skin to lay eggs and as youngsters… they mate out on the surface. I’m thinking, if she lays an egg a day, they are going to hatch out daily! So the “putting the cream on once and then a week later” stuff may not catch all the things. I sure am leery of using pesticides very much… I already had breast cancer 3 years ago. I don’t care to go through anything else like that again.

My son has had a rash for 2 months and he lives in a place that is not that clean. He has been staying at my house to help clear up the possible scabies that he has and hopefully we will not get it too. He has been told it is scabies and that it is not scabies and will finally get to see a dermatologist at the end of January and hopefully a correct diagnosis – completely stupid. This is what is working so far.

The whole family needs to do this at the same time – even if they are not itching and have no signs. It takes up to 6 weeks to show signs of scabies.

The Permethrin cream needs to be applied all over your body. The bottom of your feet and hands, on and under the toe nails and finger nails, in every crack and orifice of the body including the genitals and belly button and up to the hair line. This needs to be done before bed and then go to sleep and wash off after 10 to 12 hours. It is best to take a prescription meds at night that will knock you out and take care of the itching. Your dr will know what to prescribe. They are so strong that my son will sleep for 12 hours and he weights 200 lbs. This will need to be repeated every 7 days or so they say. He is going to do it every 3 days. There is no point in using the cream unless this way as it will only kill the mites that it touches.

Don’t use this cream everyday. It is better to kill the mites as they lay their eggs every week then to have them become resistant to the cream.

Every morning he takes a salt water bath – about 1/2 to 1 cup to a full bathtub. He soaks for 15 minutes, quick shower and then applies vaseline. This has really helped. His sores are virtually gone. The salt water cleans the wounds and helps to stop infection. The vaseline is great for moisturizing and I believe does not allow the mites to get oxygen. It has really helped with the itching. Then you need to take Benedryl all day long as needed to help with the itching. Stopping the itching will help to prevent open sores and infections and is very important.

The term the 7 year itch came from Scabies. The itching can continue for a long time (even years) after the mites are gone. That is why it is so important to keep treating the itching with the salt water, vaseline, Benadryl or whatever anti itch stuff works for you. The itching is an allergy to the dead mites and eggs that are left under the skin

We are doing all the cleaning stuff that has been discussed as well and if needed will work on some of the other suggestions. But what he is doing seems to be really improving things, especially the itching.

I haven’t been formally diagnosed with scabies but I do believe I have them. My sisters family had them years ago and I have all the signs including my children who have time between myself and my ex (separate houses) – and her boyfriends children have itching. On the ankles, wrists, butt, hips.. So I’ve read about the home remedy treatments on the internet including what people have done on this site. I’ve learned that doctors will usually prescribe permethrin which will contain 5 percent to kill scabies. It’s the same pesticide that is used for lice but in lice it’s around 2 percent that is used (or maybe 1 percent).

Apparently the scabie mite is becoming progressively resistant to permethrin? That had me concerned – as in I’m helping create a super bug that’s resistant to thermonuclear war. There’s also lindane that has been linked to a number of deaths so I’m definitely staying away from that. Then there’s also Ivermectin which is a dewormer for horses but I’ve read that it works for scabies except that I guess there have been no clinical studies or tests. It’s also something that you ingest and that can be scary. I would be very cool if it did work for sure because it would be a 100 percent coverage treatment. But I think someone in this forum had said it kills only the adult mites and the eggs remain safe from it until hatched. Of course there’s all the washing of bedding, carpets, car interiors, keyboards etc. and using permethrin spray on places you can’t wash

. The thing I used was neem seed oil mixed with tea tree oil and olive oil. The olive oil is basically for moisturizing (or maybe to disquise the torrent smell of the neem seed). Tea tree is some sort of a “—-cide” type of oil but it won’t kill the scabie mite. I hear it’s mostly for the itching – which can be good because you don’t want to scratch and spread these things. Supposedly the neem oil is the one that actually kills the mites and they don’t become resistant to it either. I’m still applying the treatment so I can’t say for sure if it works but I think it is. I basically did 1 oz of neem with 2 oz of tea tree and filled the rest of an 8 oz bottle with olive oil – from the beauty section. I’ve also heard that 10 percent sulpher is another cure and has been used for thousands of years or at least a couple of thousand. Anymore than 10 percent and I think your body is going to react pretty bad to it. I read on this forum about how people would use it and feel the worst feeling because they figured the mite was doing its last hurrah and dying in a fit of rage – digging a path of destruction – but dying. I used it from head to toe and after 3 hours, I had that feeling too but it was everywhere.

I don’t think I have the mites everywhere. I couldn’t take it any longer and I had to shower and wash it off. I could feel that it was actually burning me. My more sensitive parts of skin like my stomach were red and it burned when the water was hitting it. It felt like the water was causing a bit of a chemical reaction. Since then I’ve used it only in some areas like my ankes where it didn’t bother me. It’s a sulpher cream that has 10 percent sulpher. It’s the least expensive of possible solutions and supposedly safe even for pregant women but don’t take my word for it. Please do research. But in my experience I don’t think the feeling is because the mites are dying and burrowing like mad…I think it’s the reaction of the skin to sulpher -

just an opinion though. It problaby kills them but over time. I also bought this stuff from “all stop” and have no idea if it’s working at all. It’s a company on the internet that claims this stuff will kill the scabies with natural components. For all I know they rebottled windex and called it mitactin skin spray. Not trying to put the company down…just haven’t heard any others talk about it so it’s purely me testing it out on my own. I started treating this about 6 days ago with these different items and kind of alternating between them (neem oil mixture, sulpher ointment, and the all stop stuff). Just wanted to give my own experience so far.

I am back. Still have them. Husband now has them, too. I did a second round of Stromectal…he did his first. Permethrin is not working although we keep trying.

We only get so far with trying literally everything everyone has recommended here. Nothing, I mean nothing, is getting rid of them completely. I am down to having a few patches but they never go away completely no matter what I do. As you can see from my past posts, I have tried everything here except the bleach bath which scares me. But my husband is off right now to do that. I have had many allergic reactions to things I have tried …

I will say that Bactine continues to help a great deal to stop the itching and make those nasty spots go away. I thought it might also actually be killing them… but now I don’t think so. I don’t get the burrows anymore but I have many bites.

The doctor is stumped. Today, I will go and buy ANOTHER whole new set of bedding so that I can wash my bedding every single day. I have SO MUCH laundry to do now and it takes 2-3 loads to wash all my bedding that I need to have yet another set (I have 2 already). I cannot keep up with the laundry. (Hot water-every stitch of clothing we wear every day—-long hot dryer, too).

Although some of you say you regret reading the posts from those of us who cannot get rid of this-you NEEDTO KNOW IT – because I will tell you, the doctors will treat you like you are insane. Most will tell you that you have bedbugs because (as they quote to me) “we see A LOT of that.”

My husband and I and the rest of my family who all live in different states have been to many doctors. There are no more answers and I end up resorting to whatever I can find. I got sulfur cream on the Internet. Didn’t work. My sister tried All-Stop. Didn’t work. My brother tireds Dermasil or something…he still has it. We have ALL done stromectal, permethrin, too.

I’ll see how the bleach bath goes for my hubby. I am very worried about doing that but I am so full of pestisides at this point-what’s another chemical??? (yeah, right)

I’ve read almost all the sights on Scabies!!! I was infested with back in January 2009 and passed on to my younger son. I didn’t know what this was. His out break was worst then mine so I took him to the Dr. and he informed me that it was ezecma.. I knew it was not because I had passed it on to him… I kept reading the reviews on this forum and I made another appointment with the doctor and asked her to please give us the permethrin… We are now in the third.

I applied our second application on Friday and today I itch… I do not have the bumps, I just can feel them crawling in my skin… On the last application I did not apply to hair and I know they have traveled to my scalp…. This is not good!! Washing is a bear, cleaning is hard to stay on top of when you have to run the sweeper daily and remove sheets… If there is anyone who can suggest anything to help please send a comment….

Whole family has scabies…First week in December, I took in a mother and her two grown daughters (15, 18) for a few days as they had no electical power in their home. On the 2nd and last day of their stay I overheard them talk about a parasite that was making them itch like mad…I walked into my bedroom and asked why they hadn’t disclosed this to me. The mother brushed it off as being simple flea bites. Of course I was furious, and no longer wanted them in my home. These ladies appeared clean and hygienic. WRONG! They did not bathe during those two days, even though I provided every possible bath luxury. Combined, these women weighed a whopping 927 lbs…sleeping on MY king size bad, and lounging on my sectional sofa. T

hat is a tremendous amount of filth and parasite, not a normal situation…A few days after that, she called & said that she had finally seen a dr and was now being treated for flea bites and needed to borrow money to purchase the meds. I asked her wht medicines she was given, and of course thinking I wouldnt know wht they were for, she ticked off the list….permethrin, cortisone and ivermectin pills…I really really HATE her for knowingly bringing this infestation to my home and family. I have watched my 18 month old granddaughter scream in pain from the itching from the scabies that covered her little body from head to toe…last week I spent 300.00 professionally cleaning my sofa and two mattresses.

Her pediatrician advised me to do another cleaning in 5 days, another 300 bucks. I am seriously thinking of just throwing them away. Yesterday morning is now the worst…As I brushed my teeth, I noticed my lips felt VERY chapped, dry and felt leather like, I looked closer in the mirror and I noticed bumps all along my lipline and all over my chin and above my lips as well. I cannot begin to tell you how this feels, I am sick to my stomach (can these buggers live inside the body????)

I don’t want to eat and just dont know if its possible that scabies is now on my face n lips…I did not have a bad outbreak on my body other than on my right foot which btw has been numb for two weeks now…PLEASE someone tell me what I can do to treat my face and about the numbness on my right foot…I have followed the 2 treatments with permethrin. I have everyone’s posts and I cannot fathom suffering this agony for another month. My prayers are with you who suffer this infestation..

Guess What!! I’m back too…tried every treatment, including essential oils..I now have a collection. I haven’t got rid of them..this is 10 months now and I’ m starting to get worried. Husband doesn’t have them… thankgoodness for separate beds. All my marks are gone but I still feel them.. so when | put listerene on skin the black tiny babies pop up..just when I think they’re gone then a whole new generation appears. I have everything in plastic bins. What helps me sleep better is puttin arm & hammer washin soda on plastic cover then sheets.. my head was itchy so I also put a bounce sheet on top of pillow, I don’t think they like it. but my head didn’t itch as much. I’m still on the oils and sulfur soap with arm and hammer soap..now | will try the windex and DE treatment…still cleanin like a mad women and using borax..boiling clothes first as the front load washers are useless for mites. will be posting an update later… :P
