Here is my experience with scabies. I won't say where i caught it but i'm pretty sure it was from an infected bed. I noticed intense itching around my groin and scrotum. My hands got blistered and itchy. Itchiness would be in attacks the groin itching was nightmarish almost scratched a ball loose. Got diagnosed by a good doctor, thank you God and to all intelligent medical professionals. Doctors don't fall into a paradigm on this.

These parasites are coming back and like every other problem are becoming resistant to the standard treatments. That being said people please don't burn yourselves with full strength off the shelf bleach. I thought i was cured 10 months ago, alas nothing is so easy in life is it we are in a constant struggle as mortals. Been noticing itchiness on my face and scalp for a couple weeks around the nose and have dry skin patches on my face which happened with the first "infestation". Theres a word that helps stigmatize this problem. So now this has to become a hobby as to how else can i/we get rid of these little c#!#!@#@#@s. I think the 20 mule team borax will help with the laundry it is a salt and should dry them out, took my first bath with it tonight.

Re infestation is everything with these things. Going to look for sulfur based products to try as well. I think the standard line that scabies only survive 72hours away from a human host is completely false and needs to be removed from any medical texts. Shoes and workboots are my next target. Thanks for the freezing the shoes advice up there. Going to sprinkle borax on everything, bed, pillow, carpet. For those of you trying to treat yourselves without permethrin and are not pregnant, don't! You need to give them one thorough but kicking in my opinion to get them on the ropes then you need to keep poisoning them in any way possible but try not to poison yourself in the process please take care of your skin and don't burn it off. And when you put the cream on don't be scared put it in every nook and cranny you can find, in your nostrils, eyelids, earcanals everywhere, I definately feel more attention should be focused on the head area. These are parasites and they haven't been reading the latest medical journals about what says should kill them.

after taking a shower and putting on the Listereen with a cotton ball, I noticed a small speck on the cotton ball. I got my reading glasses and a magnifying glass and saw something that looked like it had legs. I watched it for about 5 minutes and saw it borrow into the cotton ball. I had my wife look at at and she could see that it was moving deeper into the cotton ball.

She touched it and it starting moving more. I read that the female is larger than the male and can sometimes be visible without a microscope. So it looks like I still have actives mites after 3 treatments of the perm-cream. This sucks. My legs have been burning, but that might be better that itching. I have an appointment with the dermatologist next week.

The doctor that treated me said you can't seen them with the naked eye. Bull! We that have been suffering with this have more experience than most doctors. We need to keep sharing our experience to help others deal with this problem. I sent a photo in but it's not very clear. Hope to get better pictures to show the massive sores that developed from too much scratching.

I am back and finally getting better after seeing 4 doctors. My sister had a biopsy done (no not a scraping) and FINALLY got the absolute diagnosis. By this time, we were both covered compelety with not only scabies bites but also what I think is a secondary infection. We were both prescribed a pill this time. It is working for me but not for her. I also used Bactine and oh my gosh, that cleared about about 25% of it literally over night. (The rash, that is). The doc gave me cortizone creams as well. I had the chills, and I was beginning to get foggy and disoriented from how bad it got.

I have to disagree with CWL somewhat. The permethrin does not always work. I used it 3 times---and believe me, I got every spec of my body.

The doctors kept looking between my fingers-I only got 1 bite there. I had them on my stomach, and all around my back and between my shoulder blades and a few on my chest. I had the big ones and the small ones. The two different types of bites had the doctors baffled - as if they have never seen this before. My GP yelled at me and sent me off with no help. (Yes, I got a new one).

I had a terrible ordeal (and so did my sister) with getting doctors to do any scraping or test of any kind. They all thought they knew what they were talking about. Between us my sister and I saw 7 different doctors - all with different answers. Two of them were dermatologists who told us not to worry. In the mean time here we are potentially infecting everyone we come into contact with. I have had this almost 3 months now so you can imagine!

The biggest deal about this is my mother in the nursing home - who has suffered with some mysterious rash for months on end. Getting them to do a scraping has been difficult but we are finally on the right path. I'm actually grateful I got this because it will help my sweet mother.

I will come back when I think I am 100% recovered.

I had an itch inside my leg near the ankle bone. I scratched and it got bigger and bloody. Didn't think much of it. Now a few months later my legs seem to explode with red dots and grew fast. I went to the doctor who said it was scabies. Got Permethrin and treated them that night. I've taken 3 treatments so far a week apart. Also using citrus listereen in a genaric brand after showering with sulfer soap. After the listereen drys I put on a heavy coat of Tea Tree Oil. I' also putting on Neem leaf and oil lotion for the dryness.I have red blotchy sores all over my legs and some on my arms. I also started treating them from the inside out. Garlic, Zymex 2, from my homeopathic dr.
which is a parasite killer. I'm using some detox pills from the health food store.

Trying to drink more water with fresh lemon juice. I've read that 50% of the population has some type of parasite, so getting the ones inside eliminated will help rebuild the bodies immunity. I'm washig clothes, sheets and towels everyday in hot water, borax, oxyclean and some bleach.Wiping down surfaces and steam cleaning furniture and carpets. I just got some orange oil to put a few drops on the bed. Someone mentioned somewhere that it helps to keep them off the bedding? Iplan on using some orange oil cleaner too.

Any way, getting to my question. After I put on the Tea Tree Oil today, I noticed quite a few black dots in the sores. I looked through magnifying glasses but could not tell if they were mites. I think they are. I dug a few out but couldn't see any legs. Guess I need a microscope. Has anyone noticed these? Where I saw them was on the sores which are not swollen up like the used to be. for a while I was having a light yellow liquid oozing out of the sores which has pretty much stopped now. I never saw any black dots when the sores were swollen. So are they dead mites?

I began itching by late June (roughly 4 months ago)...i had gone to 3 walk-in clinics and met with 3 doctors, that all had a different thought on what my rash was. So i was refferred to a dermotologist. Right away he told me he thought i had scabies. For months i thought i had a simple rash when not knowingly i was actually the source of food and survival for these discusting little mites. Embarassing enough my boyfriend developed the rash and soon enough everyone around me found out about it. I have taking the 'Nix' cream 2 times, without it working. I am on my third time in possibly a month and a half. I have everything i lay/sit on plastic wrapped and i walk around throughout my house in sandles. I dont touch anything frabricated and i only have a very small pile of clothes that i am wearing. For the first 3 days, i wasn't itching...but lastnight felt as if i got infected all over again.

The doctor wasn't very thourough when explaining this annoying infestation.

Scabies can live 3-4 days on any surface without having a human host. (do not touch anything fabricated for 4 days!)
It would be wise to buy plastic sheets from hardware shops. cover your bed mattress, and anywhere you sit (if you have carpeted flooring, where rubber or plastic sandles throughout your house)
Wash all clothing you plan on wearing in hot water (if u have already taken the nix prior to laundry, where rubber gloves!)

Scabies has been an extreme stuggle to get arid of for me. I have broken down a few times due to it. I hope that i NEVER get it again.

I thought I I work in a nursing home, I noticed a few people scratchingand with little red bumps on them, I tried to stay away from them, then one day one of the guy resident puts his arm around my waist, I tried to inch a way nicely because he seemed to have a skin infection. At the time I was fighting a yeast infection, and respitory infection. I started itching and the doctor said he saw nothing, two days severe itching, feeling like bugs crawling all over me, all through the night. I went back to a different doctor who suspected and still didn't see a nyhthing til I showed her the bumps on my chest, after seeing them she was pretty sure I had them.

I suspected years ago I had a bug skin infection and washed and bathed in body lice stuff and made my husband do it to the same time as me and washed everything. I was also working in a nursing home. When ever I did not work in a nursing home, those years I would be free of bug bites.

Now all because a nursing home that I work at now, a resident decide to put his arms around me, I know this is how, nobody in my house has symptoms, nobody I no are itching and it was two weeks ago when he put his hands and arms on me. I was on guard worried that he may have gave me his skin infection, since it look like he had bug bites on him and my worry came true.

What makes me mad is that he was not quarantined and he is still out close to people and about scratching with lots more red bumps on him. and he sits in the chairs we got to sit in.

It is almost unavoidable, resident just walk up and grab my hand, sometimes they go to fall and I have to catch them.

My husband is forced into one part of the house and my daughter is spending three days with grandmother and being made to stay in the same side of the house as days until my ymptoms are gone. I'm giving this a week. Tommorrow I will be bathing in sulfur soap and washing my hair with sulfur shampoo.
and every night before bed for the next week.
My doctor said lysol will work on the house.
I'm covered in the peremethin stuff and it does seem like that it is all that. I can feel bug bits while it's on me and it has been some hours. Although it is not as much as before.

my goal is to get this bug off me in a week, or I will be making a fuss at the doctors office to give me something that actually work, I will not be taking no for an answer. It is bad enough that I have chronic asthma attacks right now, just got over phenomia, and tacacardia at times (my pulse rate too high at rest), high blood pressure and allergy attacks and now i'm itching like my body is under attack by an alien bug that is invisible.

If I feel like i'm still itching, I will be rubbing sulfur petroleum on me. I will do anything to get rid these.

I told her I know I have bugs on me, cause I can feel them crawling everything. They are are EVERY where on me.

It is true about it not matter how clean or dirty you are. Because me and my husband are very clean people and organized.

what also makes me mad is I told the doctor a week ago, thaqt I had strange itching wear my ears are, under my breast and vagina and she dismissed it saying she saw nothing, now there a bumps all over me and this new doctor says I do have scabies.

I can't believe she tried to tell me I didn't when I can actually feel the bugs crawling on me, like little creepy crawlers.

I notice they are trying to bit under my arms tonight, running to other places, cause the cream is making them sick.

this is the worst week of my life, worse than getting my gullblatter removed. I might have felt some pain but at least I was able to sleep without feeling like i have to bed border line over-dose with a sleeping pill. If I wasn't afriad of awaking with my skin eating up and scratching my skin bloody in my sleep, I would take a sleeping pill.

I scratch in my sleep!

I will pray for everyone who has this. you beat up yourself, when you fight these bugs.

I pray you get sleep:)

I will post again and let you know what worked for me.

I’m giving this a week. Tommorrow I will be bathing in sulfur soap and washing my hair with sulfur shampoo.
and every night before bed for the next week.
My doctor said lysol will work on the house.
I’m covered in the peremethin stuff and it does seem like that it is all that. I can feel bug bits while it’s on me and it has been some hours. Although it is not as much as before.

my goal is to get this bug off me in a week, or I will be making a fuss at the doctors office to give me something that actually work, I will not be taking no for an answer. It is bad enough that I have chronic asthma attacks right now, just got over phenomia, and tacacardia at times (my pulse rate too high at rest), high blood pressure and allergy attacks and now i’m itching like my body is under attack by an alien bug that is invisible.

If I feel like i’m still itching, I will be rubbing sulfur petroleum on me.

I can’t believe she tried to tell me I didn’t when I can actually feel the bugs crawling on me, like little creepy crawlers.

If I wasn’t afriad of awaking with my skin eating up and scratching my skin bloody in my sleep, I would take a sleeping pill.

I scratch in my sleep!

I will pray for everyone who has this. you beat up yourself, when you fight these bugs.

I pray you get sleep:)

I will post again and let you know what worked for me.

I would strongly advise that you only use treatments for scabies recommended by medical professionals. Natural treatments, using substances that are definitively not harmful to the skin or body, are your choice. There are certain ones that may have some action against mites, but few will be as comprehensive as prescribed treatments. The effective use of treatment, commonly topical permethrin 5%, and disinfection of exposed items (see below) is adequate to eliminate scabies.

The scabies mite is fragile and cannot survive for extended periods of time outside of the human body. The most generous time given by medical experts is 1 week, with many such as the Centre for Disease Control stating 3 days. It is prudent to clean linens, clothing, and any other items commonly touched for extended periods of times.

If you have failed treatment 2 times, you are either applying the treatment incorrectly, reinfecting yourself, or you do not have scabies. Reinfection is highly uncommon if the treatment is applied correctly and reasonable household disinfection measures are undertaken. You do not have to steam clean your furniture, apply three pesticide sprays, purchase vinyl covers, and so forth. Contemplate how widespread scabies would be if they were that easily spread and could survive. Skin-to-skin contact, or contact with recently exposed items, are the causes.

Incorrect treatment application is often overlooked as a cause of reinfection. You must ensure you use the treatment thoroughly on all exposed skin from the neck area below. You should particularly focus on areas that have visible lesions from scabies. It is critical that hard to reach areas, e.g. webbing between hands and the genital area, are covered. If you used oral ivermectin, especially twice, the problem is definitively not treatment failure. Ivermectin is a powerful droad-spectrum anti-parasitic and those who claim to have used it many times (alongside household disinfection) without results are likely suffering from something else.

Good afternoon folks,

Just a little run down of my own situation. About 3 months ago I began to notice a lot of rashing either side of my testicles in the fold of the inner thigh. These rashes were persistent and eventually became intolerably itchy, and also painful (where the scratching had brought about secondary infection). I continued on with this, maintaining a healthy standard of hygiene until a few weeks after I decided that the problem could be STD related. I journeyed to the clinic for a full check up and the doctor had diagnosed me with a fungal infection. This, at the time was highly likely to be true, but of course, there was an underlying problem. The doctor presribed Daktacort.

2 weeks after the check up, I was due for a routine appointment. The legions had not gone after countless applications of the cream, although the infection region had returned to a relatively normal state, there were still red marks. The doctor again, prescribed another tube of Daktacort and sent me on my way. Meanwhile, a week or so earlier, my girlfriend (oh no) had been noticing what looked like bites, and some mild rashing particularly around her genitalia and inner thighs. We dwelled uncomfortably before having her check into the clinic too. By this time we were convinced that it was a form of the HSV-2 virus (Herpes) and suffered some incredibly miserable periods during what was before a perfectly happy healthy and sexually active relationship for the previous 6 months of being together.

Her check in was two weeks after my routine check up. I accompanied her, but remained outside of the room on the premise that the doctor may have an alterior and influence opinion with someone else present. She later walked out of the room, with her head sunk to the floor, her eyes welling up, and a look of certain doom on her face, before almost storming off with a look of resentment in her eyes. Scabies.

Acting fast, I had to march back into the clinic and advise them that I was a sexually active partner of a patient who had just been diagnosed with scabies. They managed to arrange an unnapointed session with the doctor, and he prescribed Derbac-M (as with my girlfriend). The advise offered was to deep treat your clothing, betting and other material made belongings on the highest possible setting your washing machine will deal with, and tumble dry them on high heat. This, he said should kill the mites and the eggs. The Derbac formula was to be used once, applying thickly and generously all over the body. The doctor advised not to use this on the face, however further research indicates that it is safe to do so (and rightly, as the product is used for head lice too). My level of beleif in this doctor however, was waning, as twice he had misdiagnosed the ailments and one week later I, and my girlfriend were still stuck with these pesky scabies mites.

Adding insult to injury, my girlfriend later realised that her youngest child of 4 years had shown bites on his wrists, which is a common place for scabies to start. She has a history of depression, and having gone through a divorce not so recently started again to feel the soul destroying affects of guilt, isolation and despair. As much I tried to comfort her, nothing worked. Our relationship took a serious tumble and we were apart a couple of weeks, with nothing more than bickering and arguing as communication and blame being slung back and forth. Two weeks ago, we worked things out despite the immense pressure on our togetherness and vowed to beat off these foul soul destroying creatures.

The use of Derbac has certainly helped, but there's the continuing doubt that these things are still living in my shoes, my bed, my clothes and even still on my skin. The itching persists (though this is said to be a side affect of the actual chemical). My greatest worry, having had these things for a while and not knowing is that there is a high likelyhood that they have been passed onto other members of the household (my grandparents) whom, given their age could really make expelling this problem incredibly difficult. I have kept to my own quarters, not used any towels that aren't mine, and continued to hot wash everything myself. Another point I will make is that despite doctors and manufacturers recommendation to only use Derbac-M once a week, I have ignored it. I've been through 1 and a half bottles of the stuff now, and as yet have not experienced any obvious health problems. I do not recommend this however desperate you are, but then, yes, I am desperate myself for the sake of my life, and my relationship.

A little note to everyone who is suffering this God-awful trauma, don't give up hope. Continue to be clean, routinely mop your floor with thick bleach, clean your keyboard, mouse, television remote, door handles, PC monitor buttons etc (you get the picture). Derbac-M is available without prescription from any good chemist/pharmacy, but this stuff in the UK will set you back roughly £10 a bottle. It's enough for 3 or 4 full body applications and does seem to do what it says it will. Don't lose faith when you still feel compulsed to scratch yourself even after treatment. This is just the pesticide irritating your skin.

I will come back in a few weeks to let you know how I have got on, and sincerely wish everyone suffering this problem the very best of luck in your endeavours. You have my sympathy and my support if you wish to chat.

Regards,
