I think very much so that i have a spider bite on my leg, around the rear area of my calf, i seen the spider shortly after killing three more while cleaning.. it appeared to be a somewhat pale grey color, small in size maybe size of a pea, but its burned for a while since it occurred last night. when it happened it hurt, only a little, felt a stingy sensation then burning. looked and it was a tiny little red whelp. today it has developed a white head, redness expanding from bite site, and the white head had turned a slight pale greenish, off white color. its hard around the head of bite, and redness, swelling persists, been sort of tired today, which is abnormal for me, abdominal pains, and slight headache. itchy and tender around site especially inner area of redness around bite.
im not exactly seriously worried nor concerned, but since its still hurting and redness around bite has increased along with changes like this i am concerned slightly today. can anyone offer and advice, maybe what it was that bit me since i actually didn’t catch the spider in action biting my leg…i live in central Texas, and spiders are real common around here, i just don’t want this to become and infection or something nastier… HELP!

Small, dime sized redness began 2 days ago. No severe pain (I know you are thinking Brown Recluse when you see GA, but so far the pain is merely from swelling) and after 48 hours the redness appears to be spreading to about the size of a quarter. Any advice?
Mine is basically the same as Kami’s. I have around 4 bites, 2 much smaller but obviously from the same bug. I suspected it to be a fireant bite, but it felt more of like a stinging electric-shock sensation. started out like a mosquito bite, turned into a pimple like form, but an off green-white color and oozed clear fluid. It popped and left a dark indention in the center of the bite mark. About the size of a dime each and they are red and hard-ish. They almost resmeble “vampire bites” since two of them are convieniently placed near eachother. I live in north-eastern Texas, close to Oklahomla. I never saw a spider, but i felt the stinging sensation on the way to school, but I was careless to check what it was.
My son I believe has a spider bite but I am unsure. We notice a few days ago a very large black and blue bruise on the heel of his foot. He is only two years old and he was walking around on his toes and saying “hurt, hurt”. It was so dark we assumed he broke his foot somehow! But then we felt we were jumping to conclusions as we always do and we didn’t want the hospital to say “them again?”.
That evening we noticed a small lump in the middle of the affected area on his foot and it was very hard, also discolored so we believe it was some kind of bite. the bruising subsided and gave away to his skin on his heel cracking and peeling with deep grooves appearing, almost like the athlete’s foot you would see in an adult male, very severe. I am worried that this is some sort of necrosis of his skin from a bite. Much of the skin has peeled off. It is hard and dry looking, his other foot looks fine.
We live in Northern New England, and brown recluse spiders do not live around here. And we don’t even know if this is even a spider bite at all. Any thoughts?
There is no more pain, he just keeps picking at his foot. But there are some dark spots in the grooves which look almost like dried blood.

i don’t know when i got it or from what exactly,
but its the size of a quarter, its swollen, red, there’s a tiny white spot in the middle, sore, and itchy
and i have a headache and abdominal pain(I’m not sure if they were cause my the spider bite)

does anyone know anything i could do about it?
or maybe what type of spider it may have come from?

Yesterday I came home and thought I had a mosquito bite but when I itched it It became painful and started to swell, later I noticed another bite on my forearm again when itched it hurt really bad, like stinging. Today it hurts worse and I notice it’s gotten bigger in both spots, when I look closey I notice 2 dots in the middle of both bites and little skin color craters around it, what is this? I’m worried, please help!!
Hi there, i live in a cold wooded area and i got bite by a spider a little while ago on my face and the hole surrounding area turned red and swollen. It’s been there for a couple of days now and it’s just been getting worse if anyone could tell me what might have bitten me that would be great!

I got bit on the face by a spider sometime last week, I think on Tuesday evening as I slept, so I never saw what bit me. I have a large, quarter sized raised lump on my cheek…doesn’t hurt, no puncture marks nor does it bother me other than being aesthetically displeasing and a very slight itch very seldomly. Today I pulled back the shower curtain and found a blackish spider, about a nickle size in diameter. It’s legs were not all the same length if that helps at all, seems like his back legs were fairly short in comparison to the front. I wish I would have thought to take a picture but instead I smashed him and washed him down the drain
I live in Indianapolis, IN and there tends to be a lot of spiders around here, though most of the ones around my house are much smaller. My friend who is a registered nurse said it definitely appeared to be a spider bite but looked okay…any idea what bit me? I have seen wolf spiders in the area and thought this could have been a baby one but he wasn’t hairy per say…
For three years now i have been fighting a spider i believe. Come the weather warming up i start to get eaten alive. The bites are about a nickel in size and they swell around to about a silver dollar in size. the center looks like a really bad hikky. it is a dark red blood color. I have fogged;cleaned;changed furniture; in the room. I have treated the walls and windows outside the house as well as made sure that there are no plants close to the windows. Yet I still get attacked. I don’t know what to do anymore.
In reference to #6 and #7, The same thing happened to my 2 year old daughter the other night. She has about 20 bites only on her legs and around her ankles. They dont seem to be bothering her but the pharmacy seems to think it was something from outside in the tall grass and had the reaction a couple days later, but I am not satisfied with just that answer. I too thaught it was bed bugs but its not, Also thaught flees and she was having an allergic reaction to them but we have no animals therefore they could not survive in my home. If anyone knows what this is or even a suggestion of what it may be please let me know. Thanks
This is a picture I took last year of a spider that lived on my porch. I don’t know what it is and was wondering if you could tell me. As you can see it is the underside of the arachnid. Also, I have many sacs in my shed that are approx an inch in length and 1/2 to 3/4 in diameter. They are clustered together in many areas or stuck tight in corners. Could they be spiders or do you think it is some other insect. I think something is boring the wood on the ceiling but I do not see any holes, debris falls on the motorcycle seats that is almost like small pebbles. I do see spiders in there but not many webs.
i live in long island New York. i have this random bite that appeared yesterday. it is the size of a green fly bite but there is a red ring around the bite. It is very sore when someone touches in the general area. I can barely touch anywhere on my arm. any info?
i was planting flowers on sunday and didnt notice anything bite me on monday morning had a small itch on my leg by tuesday morning it has turned into a large red circle size f silver dollar it has one single small red fot in the center by wednesday it is darker red and light red around the outside it still itches like crazy. Been felling really tired dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. I live in Va. dont really know what spiders are in this area wondering if I should see Dr.
My son got into some poison ivy the other day and it has spread, well when i was Dring the sores this afternoon I noticed that one of then was really red around a pimple looking sore, so I ran my finger over the sore and noticed that the skin around it was extremely hard and hot. So I went ahead and put on some calomine lotion and as I was putting it on, it popped and a little bit of pus came out. After this happened I cleaned the wound and noticed that it was starting to turn purple around the now open sore and it looked like there was something black in the hole.
It is extremely painful to touch and it seems that the hardness around the sore is progressing further out. The hardness , the redness and the slight purple color is in a complete circle around the sore. Any ideas as to what it could be?
I was out cooking with a couple of my friends when i saw this little white spider on the wall i didn’t notice that it had climbed or jumped off me to the wall. a couple hours later my arm started to itch and i look at my arm now its all red and swollen where the bit is. its just 1hole for it and the spot where i was bite the hole is brown. when i can ill get a picture up.
I live in Newberry Springs CA and I got bit by something on my temple and I tried to pop it but it just got worse. After a couple of my days it swelled my eye shut and my face was swallowen. So i went to the doctors and they put me on an iv and the swelling went down but now its been over 2 weeks and my hair is starting to fall out where i got bit. I dont know what it is the doctor have no clue either. there were no pus pockets when i was in the hospital

i think i got bit by a spider 2 days ago on my right leg, my calf. It was just a stinging i felt. it looked like a mosquito bite, but this morning the redness has spread and theres a white ring around the red from swelling. Its very sore, red and hard, but I don’t see any puss filled heads, or black marks or anything… just red and two tiny red marks, i guess where it bit me.
my name is courtney.. i live in rensselaer ny and i was bit during the night about two days ago by a spider.. i have a bump that is red with a white blister.. i was able to pop the blister and dran the puss but now it is swollen…can someone please help me out and let me know what kind of spider it was… thankyou again…
Sam from Long Island…that sounds like a tick bite. We have them all over here and with the crazy weather we have been haviing they have come out in the warmer weather. Def check it out with the doctor. Have them give you a blood test for limes disease. Better to catch it early when it can be treated then later when you have muscle problems and fatigue.
Were you in any wooded area? or have pets that you let in? go online and look for pictures to compare.
I was bite by something on Friday 5/15/09 on my right calf and Friday night started to have leg cramps. On Monday I went to the Doctor and he said it was shingles and gave me an ointment for it. It started to get little pussy blisters on it and now it is a open sore. Does anyone have any idea what bit me?
Bites 1 and 2 its from noon and 3 and 4 at 11:30pm; I send you a email about noon, I went to hospital and only antibiotic I’ve taken so far.
I got bit on the back of my thigh 3 times, I’m not sure what bit me. It itched for a second and then beagn to hurt, bad! About an hour later i feel that there’s a oozing, wet sensation but nothing is coming out and it hasn’t gotten any bigger. its day two and still all the same symptoms and the pain has spread to the whole area around the bite. Is there anyone i can contact in Atlanta? Any input?

that sounds exactly like the staph infection i had..its almost like a mosquito bite and it will itch like crazy..mine took almost 4 weeks to completely heal and go away and because it was so deep i have a scar on my thigh from the procedure..just keep an eye on it and make sure if any thing about it changes take him back to the doctor immediately..even if its just size or color or the hardness in it.
It’s been like 3 days already. I didn’t pay any attention to it at first, but it started to hurt a little. So I had my mom check it out, and she said it looked like a spider bite. I’m guessing a spider bit me while I was a sleep on the back of my left thigh. Now, if I try to touch it, it feels all hard and hurts a little. I’m not sure what type of spider though (which kind of scare me), but my dad said since it’s been a couple of days and no color change has taken place I should be ok. I’m just wondering if anyone knows….when a spider bite you, is that part of your skin die? Why does it feel hard around the bite? Is it normal for a spider to bite someone on the back of their thigh?
It is probably nothing but there are 2 bite marks on my left foot about 1/2 a cm apart. Each mark is about 1/10 of a cm in diameter. So not too big but not tiny. I have had the bights for about a day or so. My left foot is slightly swollen but nothing more than say if I tweaked my ankle. Although the veins on my left foot are more pronounced than the ones on my right. My left foot feels a little numb but my left leg feels noticeably “weaker”, maybe sore, than my right leg (I did not notice this until today leading me to think…).
This could just be from reading with a foot rest and how my legs are positioned. The color of my left foot is no different than that of my right. There is no pronounced swelling around the bight marks either. No puss. I do not feel sick or weak in general. I am not light headed and do not have any body aches. I doubt it is anything serious but it is nice to hear someone say, “Quite your worrying, your fine.” Thanks for your time.
This is a spider bite after one week.
Yesterday evening, I was working in the garden and I didn’t have my shoes on. I have 3 large, red, swollen, painful, itchy, bites on my feet. I also have the same kind on my neck, though there are 4 of them. We figured out they were spider bites, because my boy got pretty freaked out when I took a step and collapsed into his arms. They hurt pretty bad and the middles of the bite are black on one end and white on the other. They are ovalish, and long. They are very hot to the touch and very red. If I become dizzy or if I start to hurt anywhere else, I am going to the E.R. but that means needles!
I live in west central Indiana and found a bit on my shin this morning. It started itching and soon there was a yellow gooy puss coming out. The puss hardened on the bite a couple times and when I would pick it off there was a tingling sensation for about 10 minutes. It finally stopped producing that and is just a raised dot about the size of a marker top and it is red all the way around it about the size of a nickle. can you help me decide if I was bit by a spider and if so, what kind – mainly so I know if I need to go to the Dr or not. Hi I have had two bites in the past couple months, not sure what bit me, but I had swelling and stinging which eventually went away, but now When I get cold those spots turn dark purple! Does anyone know what this could be??

I received two bites in one day. The first one occurred in a sunny area while I was trimming a hedge. It has gotten slightly hard, red and swollen but doesn’t itch. The second bite occurred while I was in a Kayak on a lake and I was pulling some water plants up. This bite is not swelling much but is extremely itchy. In both cases, I didn’t see what bit me. This is in East Texas. I suspect they were spider bites of some kind because I didn’t see any flying insects at the time.
I have a small, pimple like thing on my leg that is starting to form red around it. It hurts really bad, but no puss or anything will come out of it and will only bleed a little bit. Recluse spiders are very common in my area, but I really don’t think it’s that. I’ve had it for two days and the redness has gotten worse.
My daughter came to me with a bite of some sort. I don’t know what it is and the web doesn’t seem to help so I thought Id post here. Its on her right hand towards the wrist more so aligned with her index finger. It is 2 bumps with little holes like a bite they are raised up just a little where you can notice they are there. They are a little red but not bad with the ice we are putting on there. It doesn’t seem really bad but she says it hurt a little. if someone else has had the same bite or knows what it could be please let me know… I cant get her to her regular doctors until Monday now that its so late and they are closed. I don’t think its an emergency so I don’t want to take her to the ER yet because its not that bad but just for my piece of mind could someone tell me what it could be. THANKS!!!
So I got bit by a spider and the area is just very red and swollen. It also feels like the muscles under my arm (where i got bit) are swelling up. Any idea waht type of spider this was?
I live in Santa Rosa California and recently everyone that resides in my apartment has gotten bitten by what we believe is a spider. all the bites have abscessed, and have had to be drained over a period of about a week. the bite itches for about a day and has the normal appearance of a spider bite, raised, red and itchy. however on the second day swelling takes over and white blood cells seem to rush to the area causing quite an infection. the bite then abscesses and has to be drained everyday. it is painful and scary that a spider could do this!
I’ve never been bitten by a spider that caused this kind of reaction. the spider that we see the most in the apartment is a fairly large, dark(black or dark brown in the light) spider. i can’t identify for the life of me. it’s not a recluse, it’s not a wolf spider, but its huge for a common spider. they have a largish body, not hairy, and very thin legs. they do not make webs i notice, but tend to hang out on the ceiling or in the heater vents. i have trees backing the apartment windows so logically we thought perhaps they are coming in from outside, but we also think they breed in the main vent system, since they start appearing from there and not necessarily the window. they come out in the heat and disappear in the cold. i’ve noticed them as long as i’ve lived there, about a year now. one other thing i notice is i have spider sheets, and when those are on my bed, i do not get bitten. when i don’t have them is when i notice im more susceptible to getting bitten. do spiders recognize their own shape and stay away?
so about a week ago, my arm started itching like crazy so I looked at my arm. there was a really tiny pimk bump, too small to be a mosquito bite, about the size of a pimple.it looked like someone poked a hole in the center with a pin, and there was a red dot there. i scratched it open and now it is really red. I don’t think it’s gotten bigger. I haven’t been keeping track of just that one because there has been 4 bites on my wrist, 2 on my elbow, 1 on left leg, 2 on right leg, 4 on my neck, 1 on the palm of my hand, 1 on my temple, and 2 on my hips. they itch a lot, but they don’t hurt. I haven’t been sick, an occasional headache, but the headaches are part of a medical problem. I’m not allergic to anything so it wasn’t something that I might have eaten. it’s been a week and it seems like every day I find a few new bites. help me???
i live in california in the high desert. i got bit while i was sleeping one night it didnt bug me till the next night when it started itching horribly then it started to hurt really bad. anything that touched it or brushed up against it would make it hurt even worse. when i woke up in the morning it didnt bother me as much and started healing up that day.that night i got bit again and noticed a spider in my fish tank that had drowned. i didnt notice the bite till later that night again, it was itchy and then started to hurt horibly like the first one, i ignored it and went to bed.
the next morning i woke up and noticed it was very large,red and swollen and had a dark brown crater in the middle.it hurt so bad i had a hard time walking around all day. i have no clue what kind of spider bit me. i still have the bite and i am hoping it will not be any worse tomorrow. i have looked up brown recluse spiders and there bites and they look very similar to the one i have.i am worried cause i have seen horrible pictures of brown recluse bites!!!!

I live in California, I have a spider bit that is pretty big. In between the two dots its about an inch! and its red around the two dots about a quarter inch. It itches but doesnt hurt.
I live in Arkansas, very close to Memphis, Tn. I had a bite show up yesterday morning. I’m not sure if it’s a spider bite though. So I would like to know what it is. It’s a little red bump with a white head on it. It’s not very big at all. I drew a circle around it at about 10 p.m. last night and it still hasnt crossed outside the circle. Around the boump its just barely pink for about a centimeter or so. I looked up Brown Recluse bites, we have problems with brown recluses around my neighborhood. It says they expand quickly and I’ve had this since yesterday and it’s still the same size. It also said that Brown Recluse bites turn brown in the middle and start rotting about 4-8 hours of the bite happening. Mines still white in the center and nothings rotting yet. So I dont know what it is. Anyone know?
This is a spider bite that my Mom currently has. Was bite 4 days ago. Didn’t catch the spider, but it’s rather small and appears to be brown.
I just recently noticed a red spot on my arm last night when I was getting ready for bed. I don’t know if it is a spider bite or not, but my mom suggested it was. It’s a red spot(about the size of a silver dollar now) with a smaller, dime sized spot in the center. The smaller spot is kind of a red color, but has a strange tint to it to make it look almost bruise-like. The entire area is swollen, fevering, and itches terribly. Anyone know what it could be?
Also, there are no bite marks, no puss bubbles, etc. There are, however, a bunch of tiny bumps in the middle of the smaller spot.
Ok, I was scratching a bump and I looked at it and there are two red dots that look like fang marks from something and they are pretty far apart even for a spider. they are aproximately at least an eighth of an inch apart and it’s freaking me out cause I don’t know what bit me, and it doesn’t hurt yet but I have felt like throwing up on and off for a while now and I just discovered it.. any advice before something happens to me also my head feels a little funny..
I am looking for some help here. I have a bite that is getting out of control and I am getting worried. Syptoms:
1) The reaction area (the red swollen area) takes up 1/2 of the back of my entire theigh, its larger than my hand.
2) The angry central area( pus filled and oozing with little white and pink pimples emerging and dead black skin) is about 2″ diameter.
3) I feel generally anxious and have had headaches (which I never get)
4) I sometimes feel slightly light-headed and generally weak.
5) My left leg lymth nodes are swollen and sore
6) It has been over a week since getting bit (I didnt pay much attention to what bit me, but do recall thinking…ow, that must have been a spider) it started small for three to four days and then grew…
I have 4 bites on my right calf and 1 bite on my left calf. The bites look VERY similar to Kristin’s picture (#1043). I was outside having drinks with friends, sitting in chairs on their lawn. Never knew I was bit. I have bad reactions to bug bites and figured that’s what it was but these then turned dark red/deep purple colors. They are tender to the touch and seem to be a hard mass as well. Any clue on what kind of spider it might have been? Headed to the docs soon to get it checked out.
I was bit by what I think was a spider about 1 /1/2 wks ago. I still have a little scar like a needle prick. The area still itches a little a times and now I feel a small bump underneath where the bite is. Is this something I should be worried about and go to a doctor to look at?

Okay, so I’m not sure if this is even a spider bite, but I kinda wondered. It’s just two, itchy little bumps and they’re right next to each other. I thought at first that it was a mosquito bite but then there were two same-sized bumps right next to each other. It might be two mosquito bites, but I just wondered if it could be some kind of spider bite…anybody know if it is??
Oh yeah. I gotta add something else… My sister had the exact thing on her hand. Two little itchy bumps that look like little mosquito bites. so idk.
Last month I woke up in the middle of the night with my ear on fire, the next morning there was a bump. After a couple of days it popped and went away. Well a couple days ago the spot started hurting and then a blackish bump came up it was filled with puss, the bumps gone but my ear is still discolored. What is it?
About two weeks ago I was bitten by a spider. Its body is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch long. It is blackish brown, with small hairs on its body. On its uper body there is a design like two hours glases one toward the hed the other toward the side legs. It had a egg sack about the size of a dime. It bit me on the right ankle it was like a bee sting. It hurt for about 30 min. then it stoped. The next day it was a little swollen , by that night my left uper arm felt like I had sunburn in the inside of the skin. Now my arm and both my legs below the knee fell like they are burning on the inside. I have a small spot where it bit me.
I was bitten by some sort of spider on my left arm by my wrist 3 months ago. I did not see the spider. It was swollen, itchy with a hard lump. After more than 2 months of dealing with the itchyness and trying everything from putting cordisone cream on it to soaking it with vinegar, I put liquid skin on it. It is almost gone after using liquid skin for about 2 weeks. Has not itched since using this. This is not medical advice, but everything I read to make this go away did not work. Maybe someone else with the same problem might want to try this.
I live in West Virginia, 2 days ago going on 3 I woke up and the top of my thigh felt like it was bruised, so I checked and found a little whelp kinda like a mosquito bite BUT there was a dot….
It was swollen and my skin reddened in a circle around it, about a 3 in diameter. that was a Sunday. didn’t go to the doctor. the next morning it felt even more sore and it was more swollen than the day before… I squeezed it and hardly any thing came out and I cleaned it. but it still looks the same.
I’m having the same exact problem as Chanel. I was out walking around with some friends and I ended up with a bunch of mosquito bites (even 2 on my face), but there’s one bite that concerns me because it was oozing a clear liquid that would harden into a bubble right after it came out. They’re two identicle little areas right next to each other. Yesterday I started feeling sick and started getting stomach cramps. Today I feel exhausted and my muscles ache and I also have notice that my throat is getting sore and my glands are swelling. I checked online and these are all common symptoms of spider bites. I’m not sure what to do because I don’t want to go to the doctor if its nothing, ya know? Someone help me out please.
Not sure if it’s a spider. Several bite (5-6) over my body. The bites look like puss filled sacs with brown heads, sort of like a really huge pimple. Itching all over. Can feel slight swelling throughout the rest of the body.
I work outside doing landscaping and I think i’ve been bit by something on the back of my knee. I can’t see any bite marks, but it hurts and is a large bump. The thing is, that it doesn’t itch or anything. I’m hoping it’ll just go away, but i’m in and out of sheds all day, so, I’m afraid it might be a brown recluse bite. can anyone help?

My bites are just like chanel theere just two, itchy little bumps and they’re right next to each other. I thought at first that it was a mosquito bite but then there were two same-sized bumps right next to each other. i didn’t feel a bite at first but it was really itchy and the next day it came up like a blister with puss inside of it, it was a yellowy color.
and at the moment it looks like it has several layers of skin that have been eaten away, but the weird thing is that its not sore to touch but t is very slowly increasing in size.

I noticed a little bump on my face during the day, i figured i was breaking out so i just washed my face and went to bed. But when i woke up there was a perfect circle around this little bump(which looks like some kind of bug bite.) The circle was purple and looked like a bruise and hurt if i touched it. Right now it faded from purple to just a brownish color. I have no idea what this ir or what to do about it.
Hi, I was bite by a spider 2 days ago and I’m very worried about. I live in Maryland and have no knowledge about spiders. The day I got bit I was outside on our porch; at first I felt an extreme stinging pain in leg on the side of my knee. I put ice on it, when I looked at it; it did not look to bad there was just a little red bump surrounded by a small pink area. Now the bitten area is flat and is surrounded by about 8 inches of swollen, warm, pink skin. It is very itchy, and swollen. When I touch it the area is hard but warm. I did not see what bite me because I swatted at my leg when I felt the pain. When I go to walk I have to limp because it hurts to much to put my leg straight, and occasionally I feel a lot of pain where I was bite.

Would a spider bite cause someones entire body to ache? i am not sure whether i was bit, but i did sleep outside and the very next day my entire body ached. each individual joint is incredibly stiff and very painful. in the mornings i can barely walk because the bottom of my feet are swollen and incredibly sore. each knuckle on my hands hurt, my elbows, neck, back, knees, toes, and even hip hurts. spider bite is my only theory….is it even possible?
I awoke with a small irratation on my neck..maybe the size of a mosquito bite but over the course of the day the itchiness and size and redness of this area increased. The redness seems to be traveling up my neck near my vein in my neck, the area is becoming very hard like an old scar, I’ve got a low grade temp but other than that I feel fine. The itching is horrendous! I’ve used hydracortizone cream, benadryl cream, calamine lotion, topical lidocaine and nothing is helping and it keeps spreading up my neck..Maybe you can solve my mystery and I hope it’s not to late!

Hi there! My name is Lisa. I live in Salem, Oregon. I woke up this morning with a spider bite on my face. I have had atleast 5 bites before that look very much like this one. It is round. It is about the size of a quarter. It has like a circle of 5 little bumps inside the red area. I found the bite this morning and I took a picture of it tonight after finding this cool spider spot!
It is puffy and itchy.
I have had about 5 other bites in the last 10 years that look just like this one. They seamed to get bigger over a few days and scab over. Not a good look.

I live in Georgia and about a month ago I got some type of bug/spider bite (no clue what it was because I woke up with it) on my breast–they were two small bites very close together. It was very red but didn’t hurt. My best friend joked it looked like a “third nipple” (ha…) but now it has turned purple and is not going away and this morning in the shower it bled a little bit and I’m just getting paranoid because I don’t know what it is or what I should do. It’s not itchy and it doesn’t hurt when I press on it. I am starting to worry that maybe something bad is going to happen.
To all who have posted, I highly recommend that you either go to the doctor immediately or go to the hospital, especially you Chelsea & Amanda. The longer you wait, the more severe your symptoms will become. You’re endangering your life by prolonging medical attention. Please seek out medical attention.
My 18 mo. old son was bitten yesterday on his leg while he was playiong in the yard, by what I don’t know. You can see two little holes not even 1/4 of an inch apart and today there is an area about the size of a nickle that is red and swollen and bumpy. I’m taking him to the dr.s today but I would like to know what bit him so I could look out for it in the future. we live in Middle TN and I am new to the area so I’m not sure what type of spiders to look out for here.

I was camping the night before last up in Hemlock Valley just outside Mission BC and Tuesday morning I was standing by the fire when I felt a sharp pain behind my knee. I was given a plantain leaf to chew up and put on it which took the swelling down within 5 minutes and lasted until this morning (Wendsday). Now the bite is the size of a toonie around but fairly flat and has a white bump in the center. It hurts more than it itches so I haven’t been scratching it but it’s growing quite fast. I have mosquito bites right now also and they look nothing alike so I know it’s not that. Does anyone have any idea what it might be and what I can do to ease the pain? I’d appreciate some feedback, thanks for your time.

i live in georgia, on the westside of atlanta. and about 2 weeks ago i got bit but it didnt hurt that bad. so i just thought it was a ant. well about 3 days later my boyfriend popped it, thinkin it was a pimple. it pussed out and that was it, just a normal scab for a couple days. i did see the red line ya’ll talk about, but mine went away. now it is swollen about the size of a quarter, the area around the black scab is hard and red, green and looks like it has little “arms” spreading from the whole thing. it itches like crazy and nothing i put on it will make it quit or go away. any ideas??
Hi I went camping the other day with a friend and I wore jeans the whole time we were camping, so I know for sure that it could not be a mosquito bite. The spider bite is red, itchy, and hot. At first I thought that it was a mosquito bite but as I said I was wearing jeans. I looked closely at the bite and I noticed small holes next to the bite, they are small but I have never seen anything like it before. If anyone has any information about what type of spider this may be I’d appreciate it a lot. Thanks.
i live in southwest virginia not particularly a wooded area but, yesterday i was talking to the neighbor and i felt this horrible feeling in my upper calf on the inside of the leg… i swatted and it was latched on so well the first time didnt get it off… i dont believe it was a bee because instead of flying around me it had been crawling up my leg…a few minuets into the bite i got a raised skin (not like a typical bee sting) and it had spirals off of the circle-ish form… the redness and white went away shortly after… but the bite mark was left as a reaise white prick looking bump… i slept thinking its just a sting… but waking up this morning the swelling has spread to about 3-4 inches of raised red hard skin with the center of a brown dot… it is not itchy…. but painful hard area… if anyone has any advice please let me know!!!!! thank you
i live in pennsylvania and im pretty sure i got bit by a spider on the back of my leg.its red in the middle and is turning purple around the outside.it itches like crazy and its getting swollen.can somebody help me!
I’ve been getting multiple spider bites since the begining of the year. They itch horribly and are leaking and amber colored fluid. If I scratch them the scab brakes and they turn white. Most of them have faded but I recently got 2 new ones. One is not round. But it’s shaped like a lowercase q and about the size of he old snapple bottle caps (the ones that are made of aluminum and have weird facts on them) the other is about the size of a 50 cent coin. my mom is freaking out. I live in florida and we had been outside around the grill at around 8 pm and the next morning i noticed a swollen bump filled with puss on my knee. I told my mom it was a pimpil , but she wont listen. it hurts when i touch it, but no serious swelling or redness.
Hi, I live in Tucson, AZ. Last night I was visiting my dad’s house in the foothills, and as I was leaving to get in my car I felt something bite me. I didn’t really say or do anything at the time. I figured it was a flying insect, because I only felt the bite (it felt like a small rodent bit me or something), but nothing moving on my foot or scampering off.
Today when I woke up I noticed there were two little marks (top of my foot) like fang bites where I had felt the bite, but it was not itchy or swollen. However, the bottom of my foot felt very weird, and has felt persistently throughout the day. It feels sort of numb and painful, uncomfortable to walk on, and I feel a little malaise in my whole body – in my joints especially they feel strange. There is no visible swelling or redness.
When I was a toddler I did have a nasty encounter with a spider I thought was a ladybug and therefore cupped in my hands and was bitten 30-40 times. I was taken to the hospital and was fine but they did say I would probably be allergic to spider bites for the rest of my life. So, does this seem more like a mild allergic response or venom?
I too have been bitte by something. Pretty svere symptoms but no necrosis, thank goodness. Right, Doctors only prescribe massive antibiotics and steroids. Nothing to reduce venom. Plantan (crushed or juiced) poultice works phenominally well. Change often until better…and Echinacea internally gets venom out. Native Americans used both for spider and snake bites with good results. Catch it early if possible. Platain has been known to save lives when used for venomous bites. Good luck!!!
I was recently bit – it was three bites in a row while I slept sitting up on my couch. My reaction was fairly involved – extreme blistering, deep red area, swelling of my arm that progressed each day. I was fortunate – I took motrin, bendryl & used neosporin directly on bites (I opened blisters to be sure medicine hit bites). A doctor I saw after the worse was over said the three bites in a row were characteristic of the brown recluse – ? I live in urban city in new jersey – what could it be? I just got another bite and want to know what I’m dealing with.

Monday through Wednesday we were canoeing in southeastern Missouri. Tuesday morning I noticed a red blotch on my upper leg and since I am prone to allergies assumed it would go away. The next day though it was still there and I noticed it had a small grape like cluster thing in the middle of it which struck me as odd. Its not really any particular shape and it itches pretty bad. My mom said its a spider bite but I’d like to know which kind and haven’t found anything useful so if someone could help I’d appreciate it!

i recently woke up and noticed a blood drip on my face (left side) and proceeded to wipe it off. i noticed two very tiny holes and a rectangular redness iminating from from the punctures of about 1/16″.
i’ve since developed a very a sore jaw on my left side and vertigo only on my left side. could these bites have caused my recent maladies?

Hi I live in Georgia. A couple of days ago I was camping with my dad for 1 day, after we came back I noticed a swelled up area on my far left side of my stomach and a couple days later it is about the size of a penny with a green tiny middle with black inside the green and surrounding the green is all red like under meat or something. Then my skin around the swelled circle has began to peel off! It’s gotton worse and I’ve told my family and my grandma’s a nurse, and she doesn’t even know what it is! I looked on all kinds of websites under spider bite pics, spiders, and insects, insect bites, and boils and everything! PLEASE HELP I MIGHT BE IN DANGER!
My 4 year old daughter has what seems to be a spider bite on her left ankle. At first it was just really swollen and she said it hurt really bad. But a few hours later it looked like a blister (or spider bite) developed on the back of her ankle. I dont know what kind of bite this is. what should i do?! Shes been to the dr but to be honest he was pretty useless. Her ankle is REALLY swollen, warm to the touch, and painful.

I have two spider bites, they are both on my forearm they both small and have a red surrounding with white puss in the middle. We fear its the brown spider but we don’t live in those parts of America its southern America and Mexico please help…
My nine year old has been bitten by something on her lower right leg close to her ankle. I seen the pictures on your web and do not see anything like hers. It is swollen, not around the bite but like her ankle and the area around the bite. I guess you can say her leg is swollen. It is red and itches. That is her only symptom. She does not have fever, nor is it painful or stopping her from doing what nine year old’s do, play. There are 3 bite marks? and the redness than the color of the skin is white and a circle than the redness comes in again after that. Being she is not having any symptoms, should I take her to the Dr. or could it be mosquito bites that have been itched to much?
I have been bitten from what possibly maybe a large spider. It looks like a daddy long legs. but it was brown body and black spots around it and had long legs. please advise on type of spider. I was bitten Sat. in the afternoon while ridding my dirt bike in the woods. I was ridding along and it felt like some one was putting out a cigarette on my stomach. I didnt see what bit me but there was a small red circle with swelling at the bite. With a red kidney shaped circle around the bite that was about 2 inches in diameter. The swelling has gone down and now there is a puss looking pocket with a red circle around it. There is no pain now 2 days later. The thing that has me worried is that where the swelling was it looks slightly bruised, but doesnt hurt to the touch or any thing like that…Does anyone know what might have bit me or should I be worried…

This is the last of 14 bites I got all in one night in MA. I live in CA, so I’m not familiar with MA spiders n bugs. But it was rainy and humid on July 3, and I did see mosquitoes and fireflies. All the other bites have healed up nicely, except one that still has a scab.
This bite looked and acted exactly like all the others. First it was a bump that itched. A welt developed, with redness all around, some bites having a red welt up to 3″ in diameter, and that eventually subsided. Then a scab formed and I must have scratched it off. There was new skin under the scab, but it hadn’t finished healing. It looked like a small scarred area for awhile. Then this began.
A nodule under the skin (I guess it was always there), began turning red as it pressed toward the surface of the skin. It looks like a blood blister now. It still itches, and there is redness all around.
It’s almost a month after the bite occurred. What bit me? Mosquito bites heal faster than this, don’t they?
May 15th 2009 I was bitten during the night by a yellow sack spider. It felt like the sting of a hornet, pain shot from the tip of my little finger to the elbow. I identified the spider in the light before I squashed it. Luckily I had Rescue Remedy spray close at hand and used that about every 15 minutes until the pain subsided. After that I applied it about every hour when it began to hurt. After that it was 4-5 times daily. I never developed an open crater, although it was tender for more than a month. I feel really fortunate after seeing all the damage that can be done. I just wanted to tell people this worked for me, and it will probablyl work for them too. Yellow Sack Spiders are nocturnal. Many suspected bites are due to them. Their venom is both cytotoxic and neurotoxic.
On 7/25/09 around 5pm I had a throbbing/sharp pain starting from under my right arm going all the way down to my right hand. I looked under my arm and noticed a round red bite mark. The throbbing lasted about 3 hours and was followed by a slight headache. The next day I forgot what my debit card pin number was, which I had been using for the last 4 months and both knees almost gave out on me when I was shopping. More red blister looking bumps keep appearing around the initial bite mark.
I have no idea what bit me. Also tonight I killed a spider that looked similar to a hobo spider or a desert recluse in my apartment. It charged at me three times before I was finally able to kill it (all that was left were pieces of the spider).

My daughter was bitten, I think, by a spider at a swim meet on Thursday while playing in some sand. The next morning (Friday) she said she had a bite and it was very small and just red. This picture was taken Friday afternoon at 3pm. By bedtime the circumference was about an inch and a half and by the next day, it was red and swollen with a 2 inch circumference and a blister in the center with a black spot. we have just been watching it as she had another meet on Saturday. Today, you can still see the 2 inch border but it is very faint with a 1/2 inch diameter red, hot, and firm bump with a black center and clearly some pus under that. Any ideas on what bit her?
While taking a pile of old phone books to the trash last night my boyfriend felt he got bit. At first it was a diamond shaped reddish area about an inch by inch1/2. This morning it looked like a very small pimple that came to a head. After reading the horror story of staph infection I was wondering if there was any way it could be just a typical bug bite, and if so what bug bite looks like a pimple? We live in Arizona, where I think we have brown recluse but do not know what else. Please let me know!!

I wanted to ask about an insect bite (I think) that I received almost two years ago. I believe it was early August…
I was living in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, at the time. I woke up and discovered a small bump, about the size of a mosquito bite, on my side, just above my waist. There was no itching, discolouration or discomfort associated with it. I prodded the bump with my fingers a little and squeezed it but then left it. I later noticed that the bump had grown in size to about 1.5 inches in diameter and was raised about 1/4 of an inch and had turned a deep purple colour. Later still there was a red circle that surrounded the bump to a diameter of about 4 inches. The redness around the bump and the swelling subsided after a few days but where the swelling was, there remained a deep purple bruise, the same size as the welt, for months (maybe six) afterward. There was never any itching or pain, that I can remember, associated with the bite. Some time after the bruise disappeared, I noticed the same initial little bump, in exactly the same place, but nothing came of it. I don’t think I prodded it the second time.
At the time I had discovered a few small (maybe 1/2 inch) light brown spiders in my bedroom. Twice I saw that they descended from the ceiling. They had an elongated abdomen rather that a round or bulbous one.
I would just like to know what it was that got me?
About 1 week ago my twin girls had what appears to be mosquito bites. Now, 2 weeks later, more bites are visible and all the bite marks have 2 little “fang like” spots. The skin is a little red, very little puss if any at all, not irritating my daughter, no fever, nothing is different with my girls, but the bite marks are obviously not from mosquitoes.
Their room and beds are clean, we clean them daily and wash sheets on a weekly basis or more (have been doing this for years, not just because of the bites).
Any suggestions as to what is biting them? We are using cortizone cream daily with no reactions.

I received some sort of bug bite on my toe a few weeks ago- it is about the size of a pinky finger nail, hard, and has a dark spot in the center. It is extremely itchy, and has not reduced in size. Does this sound familiar to anybody?
