I live in Alaska and have been bitten by ’something’ for the past 4 years in a row. It’s always at night when I’m sleeping, it is initially small but grows to about a nickel-sized red spot with individual pus pockets which each seem to contain a small, white, solid of some kind and it’s always on my rear. It takes quite a while for this bite to clear up.
After about a week I will forget and scratch it and I swear something that looked like it was white and had tiny little legs popped out. I sometimes feel a bit nauseaus and have a headache initially but those symptoms don’t last. What could this be?
4 days ago I woke up with a small itchy blister on my finger. I had slept in my mom’s dining room floor on an airbed. She thought the blister might have been poison ivy-although I hadn’t been exposed. Oh, yes and I live in Oklahoma. The blister kept itching. 2 days later my other arm was itching so I thought it was poison ivy and put hydrocortisone (which I read you should not do to spider bites)(does any one know why?)
My arm kept itching and finally I got a good look and it looked like 5 bites, but I don’t see any fang marks. I asked my mom if she had seen any spiders and she said “all the time” so I searched her dining room where I found several dead brown recluse spiders (unless there is another spider with identical markings) I took the spiders and myself to the ER where they said spiders did look like brown recluse and use benadryl, neosporin, and ice packs.
They said to come back if it turned black or brown. Do spiders usually bite so many times? I have 5 on one arm and my finger that had the blisters knuckle is very swollen and radiating the back of that hand. On the other arm, it is very tender, swollen, and red covering about 3 X 5 inches. That arms wrist and elbow are also sore.
Does anyone find the ER/s advice to be adequate or should I get a 2nd opinion. It has been 5 days now since the original bite was noticed.
I live in Augusta/Georgia and several weeks ago i got bitten by a spider, i don´t know which kind.
The bite was very small a little red, over a couple of days the surounding started to swell up and became very red. I had to go to the doctor, who gave me some medicine. Over the next two days it kept on swelling up, became more and more hard at the outside and also more and more red.
It also started randomly to bleed, till i was finally able to drain it. (it was nasty!!). After that i went to the doctor again (I had like a little hole in my stomach) and he told me to clean the bite everyday, because there was a lot more stuff which had to come out. So i did that till he said it looked already much better and i didn´t hat to come back to see him every other day.
I kept on cleaning it, but the hole closed, the bite felt way better and i was happy. Two weeks after that (actually today) i found a red spot, a little below and a little to the right of the spider bite. The red spot hurts the same way the spider bite did, before i was able to drain it.
And it is also all hard around it. And i tried to drain it a bit and all of the same nasty stuff came out, like with the spider bite.
So now i´m wondering (besides which spider was it) if these two thing have any connection or if the stuff that came out today, is left over from the actual bite??
My 2 1/2 yr old son was bitten twice this morning by spiders. The first was right before he woke up, and the second was around 11am. The first spider bite is now surrounded by a half-dollar size vivid red area. The bite itself is white. It is quite swollen and hot to the touch.
The second bite is on the inside of the wrist. It swelled immediately and dramatically. My son complained it itched and hurt. Put Dermoplast & hydrocortisone on it, and gave him 1 tsp of Benedryl. Two and a half hours later a white streak extended out from the bite. 15 minutes later it looked like a flat burn. 15 minutes later it was puffy with pus. 15 minutes after that we were at the doctor, and it looked like a small long yellow balloon of pus. The area around it continued to be red and swollen. 10 minutes later the blister burst. It was covered in gauze and he got more benedryl and oral prednisone.
5 hours later we noticed the redness and swelling were far worse, with a little hole or indentation in the meat under where the blister was. Just before bed it began to turn a bit purple near the top part of the swelling. My son says it doesn’t hurt.
He’s currently asleep, but we will be checking with a flashlight later to see how it is.
The doctor believes it is a brown recluse. I have brown recluse & yellow sac spiders about in the yard, so I guess it could be either.
i think i was bit by a spider 4 days ago,the spot is red on the outside and has a black center, i went to pop and nothing came out there is just a hole now and it really hurts..What kind of spider could this be??
Hello,
I woke up the other morning with about 10 or so spider bites, or some other insect bites- I’m not sure which.
However, I have about six or so that are really painful and are keeping me awake at night. I did find a small brown spider in my bed and killed it right away.
Anyway, the first bite that is the most irritating is on my ear. My ear hurts, is very itchy, and hot to the touch- more hot than usual.
The second bite is below my left cheek and is also very painful and itchy.
The third bite is on my right index finger and it by far the most painful. The bite is in the metacarpal part of my finger and it has swollen to the size of roughly a little bigger than my thumb.
The fourth bite is on my right forearm and is in the same state as bite number three. The bite is very swollen and it looks as if I have a small ball protruding out of my arm. The swollen area is about two inches in diameter.
The fifth and sixth bites are on my left leg just below the knee, these bites are only about an inch and a half apart.
Both bites are very sore and swollen a little.
Please anyone who can offer information would be greatly appreciated! These bites hurt very badly and are keeping me awake at night!
Thank You!
Hi,
I got some bites 2-3 nights ago while I was sleeping. What was weird was that I had dreams of many many spiders all over the place that night, woke up and my feet itched. That morning, I saw a big black spider next to my bed. Later that evening, I saw a tiny tiny spider around the same area. I have no idea if it was one of those spiders or a different one.
Our house has always had lots of spiders and this room had not been slept in for some time. I didn’t know that I was bit until later that day when the areas 4 on one foot and 2 on the other became very red with the scratching. It looked like a rash, and I’ve never experienced such extreme itching before, not even with chicken pox. The more I scratched the more it was aggravated rather than relieved.
Sticking my foot into a tub of water/epsom salt seemed to first make it itch a lot, then relieve it, at least while my foot was in the tub. The pain and swelling or whatever it is makes it uncomfortable to walk. I’m not sure how much of an emergency it is and so don’t know if I should wait, go to emergency, or make a doctors appointment for tomorrow.
The bites areas are red with a lightly raised wide flattish bump.
Thank you, and good luck to everyone.
hey, I live Georgia like south part. I visited Arkansas last week with family and my mom’s mom lives up there. My mom’s mom said that she has all kinds of spiders and one day we were shooting fireworks and i was sitting in the grass. I was just sitting there watching and the next moment im like ouch!
The spider bit then i look to see what it was and i saw it was a spider just not what kind. It bit me on the hand it’s like a red bump small with red and white around the area.
Please let me know back what kind that was.
thanks=)

Hey All…wanted to share a story. I live in Massachusetts (just south of Boston) in a heavily wooded and swampy area….about a week ago I was in the shower and noticed a pain on my left calf when I was washing it. I looked closer and it seemed to be a pimple of some sort (I run alot and get many zits because of all the sweating).
I “popped” the zit but didn’t get anything out of it but pain. I didn’t think twice about it but it started getting painful and bigger. I just figured it was an infected zit and treated it with soap and water and triple antibiotic cream. I continued to run hard and sweat on the sore. It got much worse and swelled up to the size of a small pancake with a red/purple center. I took my buddies leftover penecillin (yes I know you’re not supposed to self treat), but after two days it didn’t get better so I went to the emergency room. Turns out I have a sever cellulitis due to a spider bite of some sort.
The doctor said if I would have waited a couple more days, I would have been in sepsis and would have spent weeks in the hospital if I was lucky. Moral of the story….don’t mess around with bites…it the bite starts getting worse or has signs of infection (soreness, redness, swelling, red “traveler” lines, changing colors), see your doctor IMMEDIATELY!
I wouldn’t wish this kind of pain on anyone…anyone have any idea what kind of spider could cause a bite like this if it isn’t a black widow or brown recluse?
Ryan….GO TO THE DOCTOR….especially with a bite that close to you brain!!!
I got bit nine days ago. It was at night, ’cause I didn’t feel the bite. I figure it’s a spider bite. I woke up to what appeared to be somewhat of mosquito bites, 2 in my right side of my stomach and one on my back. The bites themselves don’t itch as much and the area around them do and the area feels very numb. What worries me, because I don’t know if it’s normal, is that I have little pimple-looking like blisters inside the red circles. They seem to be pop-able, but I’m not going to pop them, I’m scared they’ll get infected. The look gross just because it’s a lot of them in a little circle….is this normal for spider bites?
I’m from Sacramento, California and was bitten by a little white spider while gardening yesterday. It hurt like heck at the time … and a for a few hours afterwards. Today, there is a small blood blister type thing on the top of my hand … and my knuckle is dark colored too … but there is no pain at all whatsoever. However, today, I have had an unusual headache and inexplicable vision blurriness … and after reading all of these testimonies, I’m thinking they might be releated to the little spider bite.
Thank you all for having this wonderful comment venue! Melissa
One day I was cleaning my house and opened up the curtains where I found 10-12 spiders. I was freaked out. I live in Californa so there are a lot of black widow spiders and because the window was left open during our weekend vacation, the spiders found their way in. One had got on my leg and bit me.
The bite turned bright purple and the next day it turned brown, then red. I went to the doctor and they gave me a whole bunch of stuff to take care of my leg.
In about a month it was gone and I moved to Idaho afterwards.
Thank you for posting.

My name is Mike I live in Somerset Ohio, about 3 weeks ago I felt really weird at work? I was light headed couldn’t seem to focus on anything, felt sick and started having really bad stomach cramps I couldn’t almost bend over when I was working?
I didn’t have a clue why I felt this way until I was sitting down and I stated to rub my left calf with my right foot and I felt this large bump - I pulled up my pant leg and there was this bite probably quarter size, it got worse looking the next few hours turning black n blue.
It’s 7/10/07 and I believe I got bit again this time on my left side above my hip, again I felt not focused at all, as if i’m on a pain pill? I was breathing heavy but that stopped, I can feel it in my side and my left arm is sort of numb feeling.
I don’t know much about spiders but this sucks I feel weak and like I’ve not slept for ever? If anyone has any ideas or similar symptoms could you please post, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, Mike
I have a bite just above my belly button which is still bothering me after 5 days. It started out at an inch diameter, angry red, with a small whitish dot in the lower center. The area is like a lump under the skin which hurts when I touch it, but also bothers me as it’s right where my waistbands hit.
I’ve had spider bites before, but none with such a dramatic reaction or such staying power.
I live in Northern California - Mill Valley
I have at least 30 bites on my feet, ankles, and shins. At first I thought they were bed bugs (might be) because every morning, I’d wake up with more. I have absolutely none on any other part of my body, weird? They are little red bumps, not filled with anything, and itch uncontrollably and an unbearable stinging sensation when you itch them.
I have accumulated so many, because they last so long. The old ones from 4 weeks ago still itch as though they first did, and now I have the addition of new ones. My feet are so itchy! I tried to clean and use benadryl cream, nothing helped stop the itch.
Help!
Hi. I live in Seattle Washington and about 3 days ago I felt something bite me and I flung a spider off of my arm. I desperately tried to find the spider afterwards (so I could take my revenge upon it) but no luck. Now, the two bites I have are spreading outward in a red ring. The ring around the smaller bite is about 1 inch in diameter and the larger one is about 2 inches in diameter.
They itch, but not much. The larger bite hurts when you touch it, and the outer red ring is slightly raised. They look similar to bullseye rashes I have seen associated with Lyme disease, but I am sure I was not bit by a tick. I have been scouring the internet for clues, as I don’t have medical insurance and can’t really afford to have the bites checked out by a doctor.
Anyone have any ideas?
This afternoon I noticed a round spot on the back of my daughter’s leg just above her ankle. At first I thought it was a bruise until I felt it. The mark was hard and in the center of the bruised area are a patch of small bumps. I am not sure if she has been bitten by a spider or not. If anyone knows if this is a possible spider bite could you please let me know. Thanks
Hello! I have been bit by 7 spiders in the last 2 months; I live in Montgomery, Alabama in some fairly new apartments. The first time was on the back of my thigh, all I felt was a itch until a couple of days later it started to sting real bad at work; I had got real dizzy and felt sick like I have never felt before.
I went to the doctor and had a fever of a little over 100. I sat for 5 hours to see a doctor then left, I called a friend to tell her about it and her sister looked in a medical book, and believe it or not (I sure didn’t) until I tried it. You use seasonsalt, tobacco, or fatback meat you put in collard greens.
I was in so much pain, I got the season salt poured it on, let it set for about 15 min. You will feel the pain but once you rinse it, it will start to drain pus and take that pain away. The next time was a couple of days later, I tried the tobacco, you have to put a little water on, you want the juice from the tobacco and the season salt, the tobacco made it look a whole lot better too.
I wish I new this site was here to send pictures but I’m all healed up now, how I know it was spiders is because I have been killing a lot of them lately. It is the black ones and light brown ones I’m very cautious now and I see them a lot.
Be careful, hope to help someone just like it help me. Also for internal the liquid benadryl goes right to the bloodstream to knock out the infection, also use the triple antibiotic neosporin….
I know this sounds crazy and although it worked for me, you should ask your doctor before trying these suggestions.
Ouch!
I have a spider bite it is on the tender part on my arm at first it itched like a bug bite then it started throbbing when I scratched it, then, I looked down and it looked like a big huge pimple, So of course what did I do? I popped it and a lot of pus cam out of it.
It then became swollen and red around the bite with a red line is going down the whole bite when I squeezed it. The bite has like two puncture holes in it and it is really tender to the touch.
Kentucky girl
I was bitten by who knows what…I don’t even remember being bit, but it’s on my right wrist like where a watch would go…The area around the bite is red and swollen and the bite is a greenish color. Since this bite I’m been having shooting pain in my hand, wrist, and arm where it’s like the shooting pain on top of dull pain. I live in the UP of Michigan and so far those I’ve showed never seen anything like the bite I have.
If any of you suspect you have been biten by a spider, do not hesitate go to the emergency room or your doctor. I was biten on Wednesday evening while sitting on my back porch very sharp needle like pain started at the site of the bite. A small whelp appeared that I immediately treated with iodine and hydrogen peroxide. A few hours after the initial bite a large dark blister appeared, I pierced the blister and applied more hydrogen peroxide. By the next morning, I was on the phone with my doctor who had me to come in immediately.
Treatment consists of an antibiotic (Sulfamethoxazole) twice a day for 10 days and to use a triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin). Must go to the doctor again tomorrow and this is after two visits already. Was informed shots do not work on spider bites. I urge anyone who thinks they have been biten by a spider to seek treatment immediately.
By the way if treatment doesn’t work, strong possibility surgery will have to be done to remove all damaged skin and then plastic surgery. Good Luck!!!
I was just last week camping in western Ohio, and I was bitten by something. I have plenty of experience with bites (insects love me), but I’ve never had one so severe. The bite is on the back of my right calf, and produced a 4-5″ diameter area of swelling and soreness. It wasn’t until two days later that the swelling went down enough for me to see that there were two pinprick marks in the center, roughly 1/4″ apart.
It’s been a week and the marks are scabbing. There are also a few smaller marks very near the area. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
Im from Jackson, Tennessee and I am 18 hours into my frist spider bite. I woke up from bed went to make coffee and when i bent over I felt a pain in my hip. I went to the bedroom and laid down beside my boyfriend and ask him to feel it. There was a mass growth under the skin in the crease of leg and abdomen. Its red in color but no bite mark appeared, there was no itching.
Almost an hour later i felt a burning sensation, the growth was expanding quickly so we went to hospital, I was given antiobotics and pain pills. Later that night i was rushed to another hospital it was worse. I was given shots due to the antibotic given was not strong enough the bite developed to cellulitius.
Please be carreful that you recieve the right medical treatment. My spider bite is now going thru the normal stages of healing and I am now at 18 hours, still in alot of pain, no itching thou.
Doctor said spider is still unknown.
Hi
I was bitten on wednsday, put meat tenderizer on it, thought it went away. Thursday swelling began, friday much worse, saturday to the MD, cortisone cream, seems to be a bit better, but still there on the following Monday.. Also had two tiny fang marks.
For persons #71, #41, and #7. Sounds like rat mites. They are very selective about whom they bite. Look for possible locations where the rats have set up housekeeping.
Thanks for this web site.
Is it possible to get bit by a spider in your ear? I can’t really tell if its a bite, and I’d really like to know! I’m so afraid to lay down anywhere, and mind you, I like sleeping in my bed!!!! I also have a bite on the side of my face, I THINK ITS A BITE, but it is just two bumps, no discoloring, but it really does HURT. PLEASE HELP ME!
Mine is on my arm. The bite is a dark red area about the size of a dime with the surrounding area kinda swollen (just a bit larger that a silver dollar) if anyone could help it would be great. i got the bite about a day and a half ago and i also see other bites on my body that look very similar to the one on my arm
Hello — this is not about a bite - but I am looking for information and haven’t been able to find what I want to know and thought maybe you can help me - it is about something I found in the garden - never saw them before - a tan-colored marble-sized ball on top of what might have been a spider web.
No one I knew could tell me anything about it except that they had heard of “spider balls“. Is this part of a spider’s life cycle - maybe filled with eggs - or whatever - I would like to read about this since it is something new in the garden…perhaps you know a site. I would really appreciate it if you answer. Thank you.
yes i think there should be more pics on here because i have been biten by a spider on my left side about a week ago and i can barely move around it hurts so bad, its so big you can easily see where the teeth went in, i thought it would get better but it seems to not be improving so i wanted to see what kind of spider would have done that.
i live in southern nv. i didn’t notice anything until 9 am monday that there was a bump on my lower left arm it got larger about the size of a half dollar. it got very hard red and warm to the touch. it’s a little tender to the touch. i haven’t been able to see any puncture mark or any type dots. i haven’t had type of symtoms. anyone have any idea what it could have been
Yesterday i was mowing the lawn and when i was in my room, i noticed that i had several small bumps in small groups on my forearm. right now (7- 18- 07) i have more. i need to know what type of spider bit me
I live in Florida and the spider bites are located next to the crease of my elbow. The pucture marks are only about a few mm away and the bite isn’t very noticable unless you were actually trying to look for it. It feels fine apart from the fact that whenever I or something else touches it, it feels as though a needle is poking at it.
We live in South Texas, near the border and the gulf. My daughter was bitten by something on the back of her leg Sunday afternoon (I think it was a spider, but I’m not sure). It started out looking like a spider bite - a small puncture wound (on the edge of the swelling, not in the middle) with the swelling to about 3x the size of a mosquito bite, and was itchy and slightly painful to her.
By yesterday (Wednesday evening), the swelling was gone, but it had turned red and is bumpy - no longer itchy or painful. She did have a low-mid grade fever (not sure if it’s related to the bug bite though) on Tuesday.
Here is the picture - not the greatest, but at least there’s a visual…
Any ideas? Do I need to take her to the pediatrician? The fever is gone, the swelling is gone, and the itching/pain is gone, but it did change colors and that concerns me.
Thanks.
I was recently bit by a spider in my home in Atlanta. After 2 days my bite seemed a little irritating so I squeezed it and a little blood came out, nothing major. Two days later I was on the James river canoeing for 3 days and my bite became extremley infected.
I traveled to Houston on business and the second day I went to the doctor and I was told I had the second worst infection that would almost put me in the hospital with a staff infection. The infection was cut out one and half inches deep and a diameterof a half dollar.
It was scary. I am recovering with two antibiotics and pain pills. When I get back home to Atlanta I intend on fumigating my home. I have seven children and I want to protect them against spider bites like this.
Do you hava any suggestions?
Painfully,
Bruce
I got bit by a spider…there are 2 puncture marks. It did swell and is still itching 2 days later. I live in North Eastern Ohio so I’m not sure what all types of spiders could do such work. The bite marks were visible immediately. It looks like it may be getting infected now. If anyone knows what types of spiders leave actual bite marks the info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
B
help me. my story is similar to #7 amd #161. Every night for the past 4 nights i have woken to find a anywhere from 1 - 3 faint red spots on my leg. within half an hour of being awake the spots grow bigger and hot and red. if i itch them — they start to weep. they are ichy but do not stay itchy all the time.
they are ugly! i have sprayed and washed and vacummed and still the condition remains the same. my husband sleeps beside me and he is uneffected by whatever this is…..can anyone helpme?
I got a huge hard lump on my legs from a spider bite it hurts, is swollen and has gotten worse and makes walking painful. It is only red and I am not sure if I should see a doctor or just leave the bite alone? help…
I woke up one morning to 2 bites on my back calf. They were red but didn’t bother me to much. A few hours later I noticed what looked like bruising around the two bites in an erratic form. There are white rings around the bites separating the bite and the “bruise” Not sure if it is a spider bite or not…
Well, I have two bites on my ankle. About a month earlier, I noticed another one on the back part of my ankle. These are on the front. I have no idea what type of insect bit me so I was wondering if anyone could help. The last time, it also itched like it does (just found them) now but hurts to scratch then turned into just hurting. However, it is not an ant bite. Nor is it a mosquito. I do not see any bite marks on the bumps.
It has been raining a lot the past few days so it very well could be spider bites. I just am not sure.
What a fascinating discussion. I guess I’ll join the “spider bite” club. I woke up this morning with a nickel-sized area of hard tissue at the center of a (roughly) tennis-ball sized light red area on the bottom of my right forearm. It is slightly painful to the touch, and the itching is the worst part of it. No other symptoms.
I suspected immediately that it was a spider bite, although I wonder if it might be two mosquito bites very near to each other. I looked at the area in the mirror and saw what are two obvious puncture marks, but they are far enough apart that it they were caused by a spider’s fangs, then it was one big honkin spider!
No bright red area, no black, gray, green, or yellow, just a light red rash looking thing. No pus or other nasty secretions. Just itches like mad. I am putting calamine lotion on it at hoping for the best.
Has anyone else noticed that the longer you sit here and read these posts, the more you feel like you have things crawling all over you?
hi, i first felt pain in the lymphnode area of my right groin, when i checked it out i noticed a bite about 3 inches away. the bite had a surrounding raised, red circle about the size of a dime. around that was a slightly red area about 3-4 inches in width. the slightly red area went from the bite to the lymphnodes, the bite is not centered in the reddish area, it is on the far side. it seems like my blood flow took the venom straight to the lymphnodes. i dont know.
I am guessing that what I got several days ago was a spider bite because it didn’t look like any mosquito bite I ever had. I woke up with it on me, resembling 2 raised dots side by side. They are not very large, they are not even close to the size of a dime.
Since then, this area has really bubbled up and the dots are spreading all over my arm. I would say I now have about 5 more of these than I started with. Yesterday all around my wrist and up my arm was going numb and I wondered if this was the cause as the supposed bite is right near my wrist. The area seems to be getting redder while the other raised dot marks are pink little bubble like things.
This area was itchy at first, but not currently. I am getting pretty scared here, and I can’t afford a doctor so I’m hoping there is some other way to get rid of this.
HI,
I don’t know what i was bitten by but I assume it’s a spider. When I first noticed my wound it was a small bump that hurt but was the same color as my skin. Then next day it was pink and had tiny blister like bumps all over it. Then next day it was a darker pink with white dots all over it. Today, it’s blood red and the white dots are gone but it hurts really bad and where the white dots were it looks like the skin is being disolved layer at a time. Any ideas what is could be? oh and did I mention it’s about the size of a dime maybe a hair larger.
I awoke Thursday morning with a bite on my breast, what at the time I thought was a insect bite. however now I think it may be a spider bite. It is about the size of an inkpen head with yellowish color insde it. I tried to squeeze it out but was unable to get anything out of it but clear fluid, it has a red hive about the size of a my hand, feels hot at touch. I’m open to ANY advise.
I got bit last night in the middle of my chest. I was on a floating dock that had recently been pushed out from shore. I felt a little pin-prick which I first thought was either a bee sting or just a pinch, but today I have a little blister and a relatively large area of my chest is very sore. I’m worried about it being a brown recluse bit and having necrosis in my chest. I have no way of knowing what kind of spider it was because it was dark when I was bit. It happened in upstate New York, and I know there aren’t many brown recluse spiders here, but there is a possibility.
The pictures of the spider bites are just awful. I can’t believe how gross they appear and the amount of damage such a little spider can do! I feel sorry for those of you going through this.
Hi,
I live in maryland and i have what appears to be a spider bite on the back of my right leg. It itches fairly bad, is swollen, hurts and there are two tiny holes (which i think are fang marks) while around them is a circle about a centimeter in length. Around that is a big purple bruise, about an inch wide which itches really bad and hurts when i touch it.
The bite looks like a light brown line that goes straight through the middle of the circles and bite mark. I have no idea what it is, but I recently have gotten tiny bumps that itch on my right foot and upper right thigh, but nowhere else.
I was wondering if they had anything to do with this “spider bite” but I was not sure if they were relevant. Also, my back has started to hurt fairly bad, whenever I bend it sends a sharp pain straight up through my spine, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the bite either.
I am not exactly sure what to do about this bite and I am hoping someone may be able to help me. My boyfriend and I are both a bit worried as neither of us know anything about this, or what to do.
Thank you,
kirsten.
I live in San Diego, California and i woke up this morning with a red dot in the middle of a rectangular/square shaped bump.
if it is a spider bite i am not in the mood to die so lemme know.
I just noticed this tonight, I have this ink pen size sore spot in side of a white spot inside of a red spot inside of a bruise. A no I didnt hit it it was itching earlier today and I was scratching it through my long pants I didn’t notice anything the past couple of days except that I had something had biten me in 3 spots on one of my toes and they were itching really bad.
Also, when I was changing my clothes tonight and seen this spot I remembered we have been cleaning a house out that has a bunch of small spiders in it so I don’t know if I was bitten by a spider or not. How do I tell and yes the spot on my toe is getting bigger but I just thought it was because i had scratched them. HELP!
Hello, my name is Bethany and I have been bitten by a spider. I’ve seen a lot of spiders off and on in my new house but I don’t know for sure what kind they are. The bite kinda felt like a mosquito bite at first, itched a bit and I of course scratched it a little. Next day it looked like a zit, day after that it was swelled up, red full of fluid and burned so badly I could barely walk without feeling pain.
As grose as it is the fluid that came out of it had a look to it much like cooking oil in water. Parts of it were clear compared to the blood and the pus. I went to my doctor and took one of the spiders I see in my room all the time with me. He said it was a wolf spider.
Though Im wondering if its not concidering they dont tend to bite, more or less they run. He’s put me on an antibiotic to stop any infection, however I have another bite thats starting to be exstremely similar to the one on my lower back. It itched, and now looks like like a zit as well, but it is begining to swell. The one on my back looks like a gaint bruise. No rings of any sort. However it is highly swollen and tender to the slightest touch.
I have a picture of it, however after 20 minutes of a warm compress it looks far more bruised than in the photo I took before hand. I wonder if it is in fact a Wolf Spider bite or if this is something from a different spider. As I live in Colorado I know there are a lot of spiders out here, and the basement where my room is is constantly being a scurrying ground for them. I dont know if its a recluse bite, or what. Hopefully its not a recluse though…
I need to know a few things:
1. is it okay for me to cover the bite mark while I sleep so that it doesnt get more irritated by my blankets or sheets rubbing on it while I sleep?
2. The Doctor told me that when it does finally break free from my skin it’ll probably spray out a lot. I was told to instantly get some warm water and thoroughly clean the open wound once the fluid is drained in full. Is there anything I shouldnt use before or after it breaks while showering like body wash? And should I take care not to let shampoo or the like run over it as well for the time being till the skin has healed?
3. The bite is exstremely sore, I tried taking asprin to help ease it at work before I was able to get to the Doctor. Only worked for an hour and a half. What can I do outside of the idea of a pill to help ease the swelling as well as the burning pain it keeps giving off?
I know this is kinda long and drawn out and sounds like things I could have asked my Doctor. But he’s an ass to say the least who didnt even bother to ask me quiestions, just looked over the bite, squeased it till I cried, then started on a rant about all the wonderfully horrid possibilities this could bring up if not taken care of. He looked breifly at the spider I brought it, compared it to some picture outside of the room I was waiting in, came back then started yammering. I didnt get to ask him jack diddly… >> Like I said he’s an ass. Point is if he wont answer me it would be nice if someone else would.

I was bitten by what I beleive to be a spider about a day ago. The bite is in the top of my hand close to my knuckle.
It’s about 1/2 inch in diamiter and isnow pretty bright red with a small blood red dot in the center. The center has gotten larger and the bite is more swollen since yesterday. It itches like craaaazy. Anyone know what this might be?
#12 For gods sake go to the doctor!
I woke up with these two small marks next to each other that hurt. The next day they were huge and looked infected. I tried to get the infection out and have been treating it with hydrogen peroxide.
Everyone keeps telling me that they look like spider bites. I hate spiders so I spray my home monthly to keep them away, so this kind of surprises me if in fact they are spider bites.
Here is a picture of them a month later. Do they look familiar to anyone?

About a week and a half ago I got what i think is a spider bite, it started looking like a mosquito bite and then got bigger and swelled with a small pimple like head in the center. After about a week it started going down but it also got deep purple like a bruise, right now its pink and I thought it was going away but its super itchy and still swollen it feels like a bump. Should I go to the Dr. for this or should I just wait for it to go away??? Please respond, I’m getting nervous
thank you
I have a red circle of bites on my neck. The bites aren’t large or anything, but they have what look like pusy heads. THey didn’t itch at all at first, they were just painful, but after keeping it clean and waiting for two and a half weeks, they starte healing and itching at the same time. I just want to know what bit me!
Hi, my name is sydney and i was wondering if anyone could tell by my description of my bites if they were from spiders?
One morning i woke up and saw 3 bites on my thigh near my right buttock one on my right hip and a third on my right arm just a little bit below my elbow, at first the bites began to swell like a bump on some ones head then they began to hurt when i laid on my right side or bumped them on something.
My mom looked at them and told me to put some cream on the bite in my hip and i did, then when i took a shower the next day it popped and a yellowish reddish pus came out and then it went a way; I still have a scar. Then i noticed a week or so later that the other bites were not going away so my mom said to put meat tenderizer on the one on my leg it then got huge like half the size of a golf ball and it began to be painful to walk.
I then noticed that it had a head on it and after a few days it popped as well and you would think that the one on my arm would do the same but then I felt pain going from my bite directly up my arm with red streaks and i could tell exactly where it would go next. My mom told me to put tenderizer on that bite too which i think made it worse because now i have more red streaks of pain which im afraid will go straight to my heart.
If anyone has any advice please let me now im going to the emergency room around 4 when my om gets off so if there is any advice given before then ill try that before anything and if not ill post what happened and put before and after pictures up.
Thanks Sydney
I was bitten by one or more spiders 5 days ago, see the pictures below:
The worst bite seems to be the one behind my neck which is puffy, yellow, red and hurts like crazy. T other bites are behind my ear and is just little red and slightly puffy. The one arm is the smallest of them all and is sort of puffy and does not hurt.
I have no idea what kind spider did this.
Sydney,
Those red streaks usually mean big trouble! You need to go see a doctor right now, don’t wait!
Please, I had a friend that waited and he almost list his limb, and many of the stories I have heard about concerning a spider bite with red line the person was hospitalized.
I don’t mean to scare you, but I pray that you go in now.
Please post back and let everyone here know what happened!
I was bit today 7/26/07, and not sure by what. It is kind of brown gray in the center and red around it. Has gotten a bit bigger. Is tender and the skin is swollen. It originally looked like a bruise with redness around it. The center feels kind of rough. Not sure anyone can help….
I was bitten by a posionous spider over a week ago.The bite was painless, but I felt a dull pain in my ankle area within 30 minutes of the bite, I don’t have a lesion in the area, but there is redness and swelling. The pain in my ankle has gotten worse, even thought it has been 10 days since the bite. I also feel a general malaise, and increasing body aches. I was cleaning at the time of the bite, and saw a threatening looking spider, but thought I killed it, and flushed it down the toilet. So I’m not sure what kind of spider it was.
On Friday July 20th I was bitten by something that I thought was a wasp; it swelled a little bit but by Monday it was the size of a ping pong ball and rock hard. A red line had travelled from the area of the bite half way up my forearm to my elbow and it was also excruciatingly painful; I could barely move my arm so I made my way to the hospital.
They froze the area, lanced the wound and tried to locate the stinger but were unable to find it. They tried to flush it but only a small amount of clear liquid oozed out. They gave me an intravenous with antibiotic, and some painkiller; the wound was dressed and I was given a prescription for oral pain killers and was told to come back the next morning for another ‘treatment’.
I returned the next morning for 6:00 am as requested where I received another dose of antibiotic and painkiller and had to return at noon and again at 6:00 pm - this process continued every day for the rest of the week. On Friday, the 27th, they removed the dressing and the bite had filled with a brown-like liquid. They lanced the wound once again and this time this horrendous looking fluid came rushing out; when no more liquid came they scraped out this huge white sac like bag that was approximately the size of half a cotton ball - it was totally disgusting and I can’t even begin to describe the pain.
I should mention that throughout this last week I have been totally exhausted, nauseous, with fever, and vomitting daily. It was at this point that the doctor suggested it was probably a spider bite and not a wasp. She also told me that I would probably scar. The good thing is that as soon as the fluid had been squeezed from the wound the red line practically disappeared - I am assuming that this was some type of poison or toxin from the bite.
The nurse took a sample of the fluid and the sac away before I had a chance to look at it more closely and besides - I wasn’t really in the right frame of mind at that point in time. I have included two pictures for everyone - the first one is the bite on Saturday morning, and the second is the open wound after the sac was removed.
What type of spider could bite someone and leave a sac behind?
Well I went to the doctor on Monday (7/23/07) and was put on antibotics then I returned on Wednesday, Still no better. I was then referred to a general surgen, who did operate on my breast ( in his office) he cut out the infected area dime size 2 inches deep. I have one more day of pills and then I return to the surgen on Monday.
Don’t mess around if you think its a SPIDER bite like I did! The doctor told me the tissue was black inside my breast from the bite and even now, as I type this message, I am in great pain (burning sinsation).
I’ll find out Monday if after all this, I still may need to go in hospital for large dose of IV antibotics.
My son has a bite. We’re not sure it’s of a spider but it’s quite possible as he was at a camp where there were many. The head of the bite is very swollen, but what is intriguing is there is a red line that follows up his arm as if the bite has taken a vein. What should we be thinking? A picture of the bite and the line is included below.
JW
That red line is very bad and seems to be a telltale sign of a spiders venom traveling up the bloodstream. I would not wait one more minute and go see the doctor! It is not worth having him loose his arm.
Please let me know what it was as you now have me curious, but do not wait any longer!
I was recently bitten in my sleep on my bicep. I do not think it is a spider bite, but my mom looked at it, and told me it was possibly a brown recluse bite. There is a small bruise forming, but it has a single puncture in the center, but right off to the side of the bruise is 2 tiny little dots, that look like a possible spider bite, but being off to the side of the bruise, I am very confused. I do have a pet tarantula, so I tend to get more than the average amount of house spiders in my bedroom.
btw, the bite/sting in that pic is almost 4 days old.
I live in norwich where i was gardening yesturday and when I woke up my knee had a lump on it. The lump was itchy, red and has a small circle inside the lump the color of my skin; I dont no if it is a spider bite but if it is, witch spider is it??
I was bitten by a spider (not 100% sure, but seems like it) while running through a trail in a forest (outside of Chicago). The pain was very harsh, felt like somebody was digging fingernails in my ankle. The suspected spider came from leaves/brush area and lunged/jumped to lodge just above my sock.
Since then, my whole ankle has swollen up like a sprained ankle would after rolling it playing basketball.
After reading up on spider bites, I think it is a wolf spider. Would anybody have any knowledge about what type of spider would be in a forest in the midwest, and if I should do anything about it? (currently icing it and taking benadryl)
Thanks!
Christina K #123 are you sure those aren’t bed bugs or chiggers? I hear that they can spread quickly in dorms.
Here is one for the spiders- There is a small house spider in my kitchen that is being very helpful catching fruit flies around my herbs. It is harmless and I don’t need any insecticides.
FYI, since I am in the Northeast, anyone that has symptoms of a ring around their bite should get checked for Lyme disease from a tick bite!
My name’s Chris, I’m a resident of Florida, and I have a question. A couple of hours ago, there was a power outage. I was laying on the couch in the dark and streched my arm upwards. At that point, I felt some burning pain on my the right side of my back, right behind my arm pit.
Considering that I had no mirror that I could carry outside with me, I scratched at the site, thinking it was just some acne I had. However, the area felt a little painful and numb when I scratched at it (hardly felt any scratching sensation on it), and painful when I streched my hand in the same position.
Later, when the power came back, I checked to see what it was and I saw two small pimple-like bumps (no pus) like half an inch or less apart. Both were swelling and one was a little open (probably from me scratching it.). Within these two hours, the swelling had stopped, but the area remains the same, including the part that I feel pain when I strech my hand in that certain position.
Since there are two markings, I’m worried I may have a bite (I felt and saw nothing crawling on me at the time I first felt the pain). Could you you tell me if I was bitten by a spider or not?
I think i may have a spider bite on my inner forearm. im not really sure what spider bites look like, but mine has two matching dots (bites) side my side, maybe 3 mm apart from each other. Around the two dots its a bit puffy and a little white and around the white part its a bit red. Mind the two dots are pretty small and no bigger than the end of a sharpened number 2 pencil.
Someone please let me know if this is a spider bite, and what should i do?
I think I got a spider bite, but I’m not sure. It started out looking like a mosquito bite, small, red, itchy. Next day the red area was the size of a quarter, hard, itchy and hot to the touch. Later that day the area swelled to the size of my palm, maybe 3-4 inches across, the middle was still red and the size of a half dollar, the rest of the swollen area was white.
Still hot to the touch. About 3 days after the bite the swelling started to go down. The swollen white area disappeared first. The swelling of the red area went down, but I now have a redish discoloration (scar?) from where the red area was. This is the second bite I’ve had like this. Both have left discoloration at the original red area. Anyone know if this was a spider bite??
I live in florida and have had SEVERAL “spider bites” in the past year, around 32. My Dr. says they are spider bites but is now unsure. I have seen a spider a few times, but most of the time I don’t. They all have the same symptoms. They start off a red bump, then it gets red a rash around it and the bump continues to get larger and then has a blister like look about it.
The bump is dark in the center with a thin layer of red then white like a blister. The outside of the bump is a large rash. Now I have one of my lower back and one on my upper thigh which i am very concerned about. It itches and hurts, when my clothes rub against it, it hurts. My veins also hurt. It feels liek a pinching in my veins.
I have had staff infections twice and my Dr. thinks it is related to that in some way. Any help with this at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Regarding comment #34
Is there any fever with MRSA? Or other symptoms than the appearance that makes one think it’s a bite?
I was putting mortor in a pattern of rocks to make a patio and did not see a spider or any other bug. I felt my finger getting a stining feeling and immediately went inside to wash it. It was swolen and turning blue from what i thought was blood. I did not find a bite entry mark. It has stayed swolen and blue. I have had no other symptoms, did not feel sick or have any more pain after a few hours. twelve hours later I still have no symptoms, no pain, still the blue color.
i recently found out we have woodlouse spiders in our house i have only killed 2 babies and one big one since january recently me and my fiance have been getting bites, today i notices on my littly pinky toe i thought i had a blister but it is very hard to the touch and sensitive (probably because i scratched my toe on the carpet to relieve it) i am reading about these bites which is freaking me out. i dont feel sick i dont think can any body give me a suggestion.i am at work and probably cannot leave until 4.30 ????????
I was pulling some weeds outside the door of our Lania when I felt something bite my side it was painful. I immediately sprayed my side with water from the garden hose, within one hour my stomach started to swell and become very itchy. I washed with antibacterial soap and use betadine and then peroxide the area, it seemed to help a little, I also took benedryl. I then noticed the swelling spreading I keep putting peroxide and witch hazel on the site, it seem to reduce the swelling but it moves to another area of my stomach.
After 2 days I now started taking Bactrim DS antibiotic and Benedryl, I have not seen a Doctor yet. I have this medication in the house because I had similar situation 6 months ago with what looked like hives. Now I have little bite marks that looks like mosquito bites but around the same area, when I pour peroxide on it it foams out, then I use witch hazel and neosporin because from scratching I don’t want to infect it more. Is there any thing else I should be doing?
Two days ago as I was walking into my house I think I got a spider or some kind of insect bite. on my right foot. I must have took a bad allergic reaction to it cause I started getting itchy around my neck and it was harder to breath…I then took an antihistamine…but I’m 15 weeks pregnant and seeing we have no clue what kind of spider bit me or for that matter an insect we went to ER.
Half way there I checked my arms and they were covered with red rash type spots and blotches. We got to the ER, I went to the bathroom and discovered my whole stomache and crotch area covered with this rash. We ended up going home instead of seeing a doctor cause the rash went down after 30 minutes or so and in the morning it was completely gone. BUT I still have a big fat swelling foot and the bite mark is now visible it looks like a small white head pimple! Anyone have any ideas what bit me? Should I have gotten medical attention? Thanks!
I had pain in the right side of face and neck. 2 days later I developed a rash and very sharp pain in face and neck. I believe a spider of some kind bite me, what was it? Its very painful and and sensetive to the touch and itchy. Lypnodes are swollen in my neck. My joints hurt.
Hi,
I got bit from a spider on my left side about 12 hours ago and I’m hoping nothing will go wrong, but its a black line with a white head just over it, it started all red around it when I got bit (to about the size of a soft ball, then swelled up, but now it’s just the actual bite mark that’s left with a little red around it.
I feel a little queasy and a little drain, and the bite make is sensitive to the touch.
I was in NC and I woke up to 3 small bumps on my abdomen, thought spider bites. I put neo-sporin on them but they then got very red and irritated. I went to local clinic today and the dr. said in all probability is was SHINGLES and not a spider bite at all.
Treatment is a viral antibiotic for 7 days. So everyone that has more then one spot like many of you are describing, get it checked out and then read up on shingles. Please don’t try to diagnose yourself even the local pharmacist thought they were spider bites.
I woke up about a week ago with a red bump on the left side of my abdomen. It looked like an ant bite at first, but after about 2 days,it began to swell and turn black and blue on the top. It busted after about 6 days and a lot of pus mixed with blood came out, and then it started bleeding badly. Now, it bleeds several times a day and a hole is forming. It is a fairly large hole. I do not know that it is a spider bite, but I am curious. I do not feel sick or have any other symptoms. It is painful and it itches. Can anyone help me?
Hi I was bite a few days ago looked like a bug bite at first but the next day started to bruise all around it .looks like # 241 but about the size of a fifty cent piece, my boss has the exact same bite. Could this be a spider bite? I have 4 yr old twins and am worried please help!
Susie
I was bitten yesterday by an unknown spider. It left a large mosquito-bite looking thing on my neck, surrounded by several smaller ones. The area is red and slightly swollen. Just below the bite, there’s a hard lump, and it’s painful to the touch. I can feel pain in the muscles in my neck and in my jaw. I suspect that it’s not to poisonous a spider, but quite annoying.
by the way, I live in Western Canada, in the southern interior of British Columbia. It’s quite desert-like here, and we do have black widows and brown recluse spiders. I’ve seen several black widows myself. Very cool actually, as long as you keep your fingers away from them.
For those of you getting red bumps every few days, take a look at our page on Bed Bugs. This is a common problem and there is good information on how to detect and stop them from feeding on you.
lets see i got bit two days ago and the bite is still here. its not that serious idont think. it itches alot and its about little smaller than a dime in size. the inflamatory response is still in effect so im just wondering if it was serious.
About 5 days ago I noticed I had a bite on the side of my stomach. It looked like a mosquito bite but it had a blister. It has been extremely itchy since I was bit and I’ve constinuously scratched it. It hasn’t gotten any worse and is now scabbed over but still really itchy. But the main reason for my inquiry is that the next morning when shampooing my hair I noticed a sore spot just above my hair line. There is a small red bump. It is very sore to touch but not itchy. My neck is stiff right underneath and now my back is very sore under my shoulder blade, directly underneath the sore. Could this be a bite of some sort? Should I get it checked out?
About 2wks ago, I woke up and noticed a bite on the front of my right leg. My husband and I think it might have been a spider bite but not sure what kind. The only reacation that I have had is that it itches really bad, very red and is a little swore around it. When you push on the bite area, it is kinda hard. It started off the size of maybe a quarter and got very red now it is about the size of a dime. In the middle of the redness it had like two puncture bites. It looked like it was pusing so I had to mess with that, it has done that twice now, of course I had to popped it. Now it still looks like a red dime.
Can anyone help me out, not sure what it is and would like to find.
To John (257),
I don’t know if you have gotten your bite checked out because you posted on the 3rd and I’m just reading it on the 6th. But you need to. I don’t want to scare you but my friend was bit (doc says by a brown recluse but no spider was found so we don’t know for sure) and the same thing happened to him with the hole. The doctor said it was because the kind of bite he got was a flesh eating bite and it continues to eat away your flesh long after the bite. Please get it checked out.

I think you have fleas! I just went through this last summer as my cats got fleas and of course brought them in the house. My ankles were bit up so bad and it itched like crazy. If you need advice getting rid of them, let me know. We had a heck of time trying a million different things, spending alot of money and searching the net but finally found a solution.
I live in the Pine Barrens of southwestern NJ. Yesterday I banged out the old yard shoes I keep outside next to the front door before putting them on to mow my lawn. A small black spider scurried out of my left shoe and disappeared amongst my mulch. I slapped the shoes together a few times more, then put them on, and went about my way.
A few minutes later, I noticed an uncomfortable twinge in the little toe of my left foot. When I pulled the shoe off, I saw a vibrant green stain on my sock over that toe. I immediately pulled my sock off to inspect my foot. No bite marks were apparent and there was no discoloration.
Upon closer inspection, I discovered what appeared to be an egg sac inside my shoe. It was about the size of the first knuckle on my thumb. The exterior was whispy white and the interior appeared to be the same green color that stained my sock. Looks like I smushed it against my toe while putting on the shoe and walking around. I did not see any other spiders and completed my chores without incident.
Now it’s the next day and my little toe is itchy, somewhat sore, a little discolored with a ruddy color and slightly swollen. I still don’t see a bite mark or any punctures.
Is this merely a topical irritation/reaction or something that may require medical attention? Can crushing an egg sac release venom or some other type of toxicity? How long should one wait before seeking medical assistance?
I was camping at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and I was walking up from a creek about 1:30am when I felt something bite me. As I continued to walk the bites continued down my leg (resulting in 4 bites). I tried to brush whatever was in my pant off but I could not feel anything besides the pain from my bites.
When I looked at my bite (maybe a minute after) the bite itself was purple with a white ring around them. The next day there was no purple but just red and it had spread from a dime sized bite into about a CD size within 18 hours. I went to the doctors and they had no answer for me but gave my antibiotic cream and prescription anti-histamines.
The next day my leg was so swollen that my skin was stretching and the site was hard and felt like plastic/rubber, the bite spread around my legs and took up about 1/3-1/2 of my leg. I was put on steroids to fight the bite. The swelling subsided and now 10 days after the incident the bite is still a bit itchy and there are little circles with holes and scabs where the bites were.
My story isn’t as gruesome as many of yours are. I’ve been getting bitten by something every night for three or four days. (Just me, not my husband.) Today I vacuumed up a bunch of webs, and two egg sacks in my nightstand. The bites I have look like overzealous mosquito bites, but with a whitish center and a killer itch. To ease the itching I sliced garlic and band-aided
them to the bite sites. It seems to be helping a bit.
What is it with this night-biting behavior in spiders? On Wikipedia it says that spiders do not prey on humans, but will bite defensively or agressively. I’ve read enough comments about waking up with bites that this doesn’t seem to be true all the time.
I’m reluctant to use an insect fogger in my home, but if my kids start showing up with bites, I will.
Okay, well, I noticed a small sore spot on the side of my middle toe July 29th. It was sore, and sort of hardened but not red or anything. And I’ll say this, I don’t get headaches, none of my family does, but soon after discovering the spot I’ve been having crazy-painful headaches!
Either way, about a week later it develops into a blister, or thats what it looks like. I rip it off, and now I’m treating it like a blister; peroxcide, and bandaids. Am I going to get worse? HELP. I freak over small things like this…
I was in Walmart the other day and I felt a pinch on my leg and it got really itchy. I didn’t actually see what it was that got me though.
The bite has a dark center and slight swelling around it. The dark center is surrounded by a dark red circle. At first it seemed like just a circle but yesterday when I woke up one of the sides sort of shot out and now it kind of looks like it has a tail. It has stayed like that since and hasn’t gotten worse. I do not have any of the other symptoms like blurred vision or joint aches or anything like that. It simply itches and looks bad.
Can anyone tell me what this is and what I can do about it?
Alright. I live in ohio.
I have a bite-not even sure if it was a spider or not, that I’d gotten a night ago. This morning at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, it looked like nothing more than a mosquito bite. Now its larger around-a bit larger than a quarter around, and a lot more swolen. It all looks normal, no pus, blackness, or blood, just a swelling, and a tiny little indent-ish thing where I suppose the bite was admitted.
Any input on the situation? I’d really appreciate it.
My friend hannah and I were playing on a new rug my dad just got. When we unrolled it 5 jumping spiders came out! The next day i had two little marks on my leg i didn’t think of it .
The next next day half of my leg was red and swollen so I went to the docters and they gave me some meds, told me to rest and if it became worse to come in ASAP. It didn’t but a few days later my grandma went to the docter (i went too) on my way home i pulled off the sab and it shot out green stuff. Was it a jumping spider bite?
i was changing in front of the mirror and noticed a red bump size of a quater on my arm! it doesnt itch or anything.. thats why i didnt even notice it. the redness is spreading and its getting bigger. there’s no white dot in the middle though. and just 2 weeks ago i had the same thing on my thigh.. but with a white dot. so i picked it.. and now that it’s healed i’ve got a small scar =T i dont know if i should wait for it to heal or go see a doctor?
I have the same situation as Jesse, post #271, and now the swelling has started to “drop” down my arm, for lack of a better description. The bite is on my bicep, and I’m assuming that due to gravity, the toxins are drifting towards the ground.
Any help?
About a week and a half ago I woke up with a big swollen, red area right between my eyes. I thought it was just a masquito bite or something. After a couple days it only seemed to be getting worse and worse. It started to get a red line that traveled down and then over to make kind of a backwards L shape. Then the red line turned into what seemed like a black scab. After a few days the scab fell off leaving a big empty hole as shown in the picture below:
And below is a close up of the bite area:
It didn’t bleed or anything like a normal cut or scrap or something. It has started now to fill up with a yellow looking scab, I think it is the dried up medicine I have been putting on it. It is very deep and very wierd, all the doctors I have been too think it’s a spider bite, but of course there is no way to be sure because I didn’t see it.
Also, there are no clear bite marks, but something is definatly eating away my flesh. I have been on antibiotic which has helped with the swelling and pain. The doctor I saw yesterday said he was going to find a surgeon for me to see within the next couple days.
If anyone has ever seen anything like this and knows what it might be, that would be very helpful. Thanks.
UPDATE: Aug, 12, 2007
I just wanted to give an update on the treatment I am getting for the bite I posted. The doctor has continued me on antibiotic pills and a topical antibiotic cream. He also scraped out the hole to make it bleed, he said the stimulation of blood flow would help it heal better. It is already looking much better, the hole is still just as big, but no yellow stuff or anything. Also all the redness and swelling is completly gone. Now I just have to wait and see how big of a scar it leaves, and then possibly see a plastic surgeon to help with that.
I am not a doctor, but my advice to everyone is to seek medical attention for any bites that have discoloration or a traveling line. Mine started with just a red swollen area then got the traveling red line. Good luck to everyone!
