Did you find a spider in your home and would like to identify it?
Perhaps you’ve been bitten and wondering what bit you?
If you have been bitten and would like help identifying the spider (or other insect), please take photos and upload them here; we’ll do our best at identifying the bug that bit you. Without pictures of the bite and description, it is very hard to determine the insect. Photos of the spider or insect will be a big help!
Of all the comments people have left about bites on this site, the following tips stand out!
- Do not pop the bite to get pus out!
- Do not wait to go to the doctor, a few days can do incredible damage!
- Capture the insect that bit you if possible – very important.

At first I thought it was a regular bug bite. (I live in Florida, it’s nothing new.) There was just more pus in it than normal. It was itching really bad so I started to get the pus out. Then I noticed that all the little pores around the bug bite were also filled pus, obviously not were I bas bitten, but still.
It’s been a week and and all that’s left of the spot were I was bitten is a small scab. It is all flat there, but there is a ring around it were all the pores are filled with pus. It itches really bad. (It’s all I can do not to pick the scab, but that’s just me…)
The whole thing is about an inch in diameter. If anybody could help, that’d be great!! 🙂
Can some one help identify this 48 hour old bite, from bedroom. Itched at first w red small raw area in middle. No pain but some swelling and hardness near center. Help much appreciated. C

My children and I have been getting bit by some kind of bug that I cannot seem to identify. The bugs look like large fleas almost, a light to milky tan in color, with forelegs that look just like a fleas. I was recently bitten on my back right shoulder and when I reached I felt the bug and pressed it between my two fingers crushing it beyond any recognition just by pressing on it. I know for a fact it’s not bed bugs as I have had that infestation once before and successfully gotten rid of them, but I would like any information on what kind of bug this might be so I can take appropriate actions against them. Please help if you might have any useful information.
my bite has to circular bite marks. It has swelled up and is sore.
there is a slight tingle in my arm. My parents said i would be fine but i would just like additional information in case they are wrong. thank you.
ps. i live in michigan.
I have two reddish brownish marks on my foot and they look like fang marks with a bruise that keeps growing around it what is this?
My 8 month old daughter has 4 small red bumps and two larger red bumps. One of the big bumps have a white head and the other big bump doesn’t but they both have a hard mass under them. I popped the one with the white head a little yellow puss came out, she doesn’t seem like they bother her unless I mess with them. I don’t know if they are bites of some kind or not but please help because I can’t find anything else about it on the internet.!! Thank You
For about a year and a half, I have been bugged (sorry) by weird bites–mostly on my arms and hands. They are not so big (pencil eraser size), but I discern 3 puncture marks on each. They itch constantly. Some of them come in clusters, which look exactly like bed-bug feeding frenzy–but I have never seen ANY bugs of any kind. I scratch the heck out them. When it seems impossible for any poison to remain, they start itching again.
Eventually, that stops, and the small bumps and redness flatten out completely. A couple of weeks can go by, then the itching starts again! They have all left scars after several months. A few (a couple on my buttocks and one on the back of my neck at the hairline) have remained as hard, crusty sores that have absolutely no drainage–but itch too much to heal. any ideas? I haven’t a single reference to three-puncture bites.
On another note–I lived in Kansas for 33 years and can tell you that brown recluse bites start off not as big as a dime, are initially smooth and raised–light with a distinctive red rim, and two noticeable punctures in the center. Soaking in a hot bath will cause the bite to look like it’s scar tissue. My experience (for both myself and years later, my daughter) was to pick the ‘scar’ off and soak, repeating daily.
You’ll see that inside the wound is terraced flesh (no ookie stuff) where the poison has necrotized the flesh. I have a small round scar from doing this, but have known people who have ended up in the hospital for weeks while the docs remove continuously necrotizing flesh, ending up on crutches while they heal what’s left of their flesh–and talk about scarring!! The brown recluse favors ‘fatty’ areas, like upper thighs and buttocks–but doesn’t limit itself, ours were on the inside of knee.
I woke up Friday with what I thought was a pimple next to my eye. Upon further inspection, it was red swollen with a crater in the middle. It started the size of a dime and has progressively gotten bigger. It is tender to the touch but doesn’t hurt otherwise or itch.
So this morning, I woke up to find that I might have caught a cold from getting caught in he rain on Thursday (today is Saturday). I felt kinda sluggish but went out with my mom. In the afternoon, my ear started to feel weird so I felt around and discovered a small bump on (hard to explain) the top part of the cartilage where your ear is connected to your head and comes down to the center of your ear.
It hurt when I touched it but I didn’t pay it any mind. An hour later it began to have a slight, dull pain and ached when I touched it. I felt nauseous so I went to go to sleep but I’m kinda worried now because its been about 3 hours that I’ve felt nauseous and it won’t stop.
Is it just the fact that I might be sick or do you think it could be caused by an actual bite?
I don’t have a pic because I can’t get one since its tucked away in a fold of my cartilage. Mum said it was a bit red though.
So my boyfriend has had this bite behind his ear for about a week now. We live in Alberta, Canada but just ordered our furniture from the states and its been here about that same time frame. Really afraid there is some sort of dangerous spider in our bed as his ear is really hurting – we have kids in the house – can anyone identify this bite? Thanks.
back in 2005 i was bit by a brown recluse in jail and they almost had 2 cut my arm off 2 save my life and see i have bad anxiety 2 where i pick at myself a lot so wen i got a bump right next 2 the scar i have on my arm i didn’t think anything of it and its been 2 days now and i figured if it was like a mosquito bite or something.
the swelling would go down so of course i tried popping it and honestly don’t remember anything coming out of it and so wen it gets a small scab type thing i pick it off but almost 3 days has passed i’ve cleaned it and everything and its very red hard and some what swollen.. it doesn’t itch but it does hurt wen i bend my arm or hit it never felt nothing bite me but who knows???
Please if you are asking “should I go to a doctor” you probably should. Can’t afford it…at least go ask a pharmacist…Walmart Walgreens, your local grocery store…just go ask a professional, don’t wait.
Last night after finishing dinner I noticed the edge of my nose was sore. I didn’t think much of it, thought it might have been acne. Within half an hour it was red and swollen and noticeably more tender. I hopped into the shower and by the time I got out of the shower and dried off, (maybe half an hour to forty minutes at the most) it had blistered over like one would expect from a bad burn and touching anywhere on that side of my nose was very painful. I do not recall a spider or other insect being anywhere near my face last night, and given how quickly it blistered after I noticed it makes me think I was bit without my knowing shortly before I noticed.
I accidentally popped the blister this morning in my sleep and when I examined it in the mirror it looked like a popped blister from walking too long in unbroken in shoes that oozed clear fluid for about fifteen minutes. Since then it has been oozing a yellow pus and the side of my sinuses with the bite have been stuffy. Unsure what to do about it, I’ve been keeping it clean and I’ve taken a generic allergy pill.
My son complained on Friday evening that he might have a bite. Being boys that always get bit by ants, or mosquitoes I just said to soak in the tub and it would be be better. I looked at it and thought it might be a harmless mosquito bump even though it was in the crease of his hip area. By Sunday he was saying that it it hurt and by Monday it was swollen rock hard.
I tried comparing some of the pics I’d seen but being African American some that looked similar really weren’t because he doesn’t have the redness that many of the pictures of the Caucasian victims had. It is now about 1 1/2-2 inches in diameter and has a open sore in the middle hats a little smaller than an pencil eraser.
Its so swollen and he claims it hurts to touch it. I tried putting some hemorrhoid cream on it to reduce the swelling as I couldn’t find the Benedryl. I thought about A&D ointment but not sure if this would help. Is this something that will go away or do I need to go to the doctor? Don’t have anyway to post pictures but would appreciate some advice.
A few days ago I noticed two red spots on my arm about an inch and a half apart. Yesterday morning they started to itch to the point that I had accidentally tore the top off of them. I had manged to get the poison out and cleaned the bumps out but for the past two days I have experience horrible headaches and today I feel like I am getting yet another headache, my muscles feel slightly stiff, I’m dizzy, I am feeling itchy all over, I am having trouble with my breathing, and last night I could hardly eat anything without feeling nauseous. Does anyone know what bit me? I really don’t want to go to the hospital.
On Friday 23rd September at work, I felt a sharp pain at the bottom (right side) of my right breast. It was sore & very uncomfortable. A little later, I felt out of sorts & run down.
Saturday, I woke up with a dull headache & a feeling of stiffness around my neck. The said Boob was sore. On inspection. I found two very painful bite marks on either side of my right breast, one on the right side of my cleavage and the other as described above. Large inflamed red rings with a smaller darker red centre, with two sets of puncture marks on either side of the dark red centre which are still clearly visible .
As the day wore on, the muscles in my back went into spasm and the back of my legs hurt like hell (a throbbing pain down the back of both legs). Saturday night was hell, I didn’t sleep a wink the pain down my back and legs was unbelievable and my back itched in three spacific places on the right side of my body.
The whole of Sunday, I didn’t know what to do with myself, the pain continued down my back & into my legs. It was uncomfortable to sit, stand and/or lye down. I felt terrible, very lathargic & listless. Sunday night was the same as Saturday, the muscles in my back & legs were screaming but added to that, was a sharp pain running from my chest to my back.
Very early Monday morning I phoned the nursing Sister & asked her for a Voltaren Injection to help relieve the pain in my back & legs. She found three large welts on my back that were raised, rough to the touch with tinny spots. She advised me to have dry needling done to help relax the muscles, take anti-inflamitories, pain killers and take a course of antibiotics, which I have been doing.
It is Thursday 29th September, I still don’t feel great, however, the itching has reduced quite a lot, my back is not quite as bad but my legs are still throbbing and I still have the pain on the right side of my chest through to my back.
I did not see a spider or any other insect in my office but something clearly sunk its teeth into me.
While I was in Seattle three days ago I felt a tiny sting on the skin of my inner forearm. In a couple of hours I developed a bruise that hurts like a regular bruise and doesn’t itch at all. The area where the bruise started seems to be just a touch raised and paler than the bruise – initially I have attributed it to a blood vessel rupturing. The bruise had spread a little in two days. No other symptoms though… Could it be a spider bite? Is it time to get concerned? I am taking pictures now to track progress… Thank you!
I don’t know who is bite me. But redness going bigger second day. I was at work. It’s big open site. So, evening time door it’s open and it’s a lots of fly around. And we have a lots of spiders outside and inside. Will try to attach a photo.
I received these random, cluster-like bumps on my leg. It happened around 7 in the evening. This pic was taken many hours later around 3:30 AM. I was wearing my jeans, then felt a itch and that’s when I noticed them. You may not be able to tell by the pic, but they’re bumpy, and it’s a about 5 bites. They itched at first, but stopped almost immediately after I noticed them.
Normally I would let such a thing go, but I am extremely paranoid about bedbugs, and I’ve heard they have similar symptoms. Does anybody have any clues as to what this might be, or from?
I have something on my face.. not sure what it is.., it hurts really bad…, I’m currently at work.. but I will post a picture when I get home.
here’s my bite i have 3 more like it the skin directly around the bite has turned hard there is about a radius of a soft ball around the bite that is light red/pink, the first day wasn’t that painful, the second day i had allot of nerve pain and shooting pain all the way up my leg and now on the 3rd day the pain has slightly subsided, but i noticed a new bite under my neck this morning it doesn’t have the same pain as the others… what do you think it is?
A lot of these look like MRSA (staph infection) to me. Couple of years ago, I noticed a small pink spot about the size of a dime, on my hip. I assumed it was just a harmless bug bite. The next day, it had grown to the size of a quarter. I then started to think it could be a spider bite, but had not seen any spider. I just figured it had gotten into my clothes before I put them on. I started to ask family advice about treatment. By the fourth day, it was the size of my hand. It was really red, swollen, and sore.
I then decided to go to the doctor. The treated me for an allergic reaction to a bug bite, and prescribed me a cream and antibiotics. A couple of days later, I wasn’t able to wear my pants. It was soooo sore. I returned to the doctor, and the did a culture and turned out, I had MRSA. They prescribed high dose of antibiotic then and a different kind. It took over my whole hip. It hurts so bad. It finally came to a head and drained, and then started to heal.
I have no idea where I got it, but apparently it is everywhere now. I found out later, that it has become very common. I bleached and cleaned the whole house and disinfected. My boyfriend ended up with it as well. He didn’t sympathize with how much pain I was in until it happened to him. He could hardly walk. Anyhow, I just wanted to share my story and give you a heads up. And also, it is very contagious.
I was bitten 9 days ago while sleeping. The bite is on my face, lower cheek. It is bright red, itches and weeps constantly. The scab comes right off, and starts weeping again. I am guessing it was a spider. But now, 9 days later, it is swelling up like it is starting all over again. I am thinking I might go to the doctor if it does not get better by tomorrow.

I felt this irritating itch on my back, and when my mom checked it out, she said it was a large white welt, a few hours later (Now) I began getting itchy all over, but on my left thigh, a second welt formed, i need to know, is this some sort of a spider bite or something, or am i having some sort of allergic reaction to something?
Hi,
I am dealing with a massive amount of bites myself. My derm told me they were bed bugs or fleas…i have none in my house, and my bf has never been bitten. Is it possible for one person, like myself, to be eaten alive and no one else in a house be touched?
I am very very familiar with MRSA, it was the first thing I thought of when I saw these bites. I am a type I diabetic and my endocrinologist tested me for mrsa immediately. The bites itch badly, are only on my legs, start off as a small flesh colored bump, turn red, develop a white head, and a red sphere expands from the small whitehead center. They itch like crazy. I stepped into my bfs house for not even five minutes the other day, came home and found two new bites.
I was reading many of these entries, and I want to let people know that doctors are TERRIFIED of diagnosing anything as Staph or MRSA. When I was first infected in 2006 I was traveling, thought i had a spider bite, and went to 3 different hospitals across the country as i was developing a fever. No one tested for staph.
Most pustules are staph. I promise you. There are many doctor’s out there who specialize in infectious diseases (I don’t think that is the correct label), or basically the diagnosis of highly contagious things. If your doctor shrugs off a staph diagnosis, demand a test anyways. Do not pop the pustuale!!!! Put bacitracin on it (it’s a kind of antibiotic), unless your doctor tells you not too, so your immunity to antibiotics doesn’t become strong.
I also saw a few posts about tick bites. I frequently travel to Ipswich Mass. and as a child was bitten three different times and diagnosed and treated for lime disease. If you’ve been bitten by a tick, take the test, it’s pretty painless. (I know, now that I am older I am wondering why my parents continued to take me back to a place where I obviously befriended deer ticks and their problems).
So, if anyone has any thoughts about my bites that’d be great. But watch out for that staph! Doctor’s are afraid of diagnosing because it means it is everywhere if it is on you.
Okay. A few days ago, I think the 7th, I noticed an itchy bug bite on my left shoulder. When I checked out my shoulder there was a red circle with a little scab in the middle. When i ran my finger over it it felt kinda swollen, but not to bad. The first day it really itched but after that it faded(the itch). I barely notice it now, but when I touch it feels like I have a little bruise. I’m suppose to be going with my mother to the doctors tomorrow to have them look at it but i wouldn’t exactly say that doctors here are the most accurate so i was wanted to get some peoples perspective on it. And another thing was that earlier when i was out in the sun i could have sworn it looked sort of yellowish, once again like a bruise, but then again i could just be scaring my self. I’ve never been bitten by a spider before so i’m not sure what they look like or how they feel. So i can really use some help, Please!?!

Hi!
I was wondering if you could please help me figure out what has bitten my boyfriend. Okay so yesterday he woke up with this pink circular welt on his neck, it felt hard and was painful for my boyfriend. And today he woke up with a even bigger lump on his neck. It looks like the welt got irritated and spread because the surrounding area of the welt is now very dark pink with that hard welt in the upper middle of it. The surrounding skin is not hard, only the welt is and it looks like the skin around it is swollen or something. It also hurts for him even more now.
Please Help!
I have several bug bites on my body and I don’t know where they are from. They don’t itch unless something touches it or rubs against it. They’re small but if I itch them they get bigger and turn white and hard. My cousin had some bug bites like mine and now i have them. Are they even bug bites? They look like bug bites. I got These when i was camping at Mt. St. Helens in Washington but i live in Linn County Oregon.
Please Help!

Hey.
My girlfriend just got bit two days ago on her calf. She felt the bite but didn’t see what bit her. It was a little swollen and itchy one day ago but today it got big and red/black. She put some cream on it and here’s the latest picture.
I was in Puerto Vallarta in Mexico on vacation and was bitten in many places by what I think are probably mosquitoes. However, it has been 5 days since I’ve been bitten and the bites look worse. I have one on my leg that has grown very large. It started as a small bite, then small bubbles with yellow fluid formed. They would pop and then reform. Now there is a small purple bubble in the middle and my leg looks red and bruised. The bruising looks a little bit bigger than an egg. The swelling has gone down but my skin still feels kind of hard and hot. On the third day after I was bitten, I felt like I had a cold, very tired and I had a sore throat and felt hot/cold. I still have these symptoms. Does anyone have any idea what this may be?
My son has this rash on his inner thighs and buttocks! He went to the doctor’s and was told it was “staph infection”! He is in terrible pain when it and it flares up. The’s doctor put him on antibiotics and a cleansing solution that he has to use every day up to 4 times a day ( use a very clean towel and washcloth also)! It isn’t quite as bad now but he has to continue his regiment quit often! As I said, it’s a very painful infection..hurt him to walk, sit down, practically anything! I hope this helps a lot of you out there! God bless and good luck!
I recently was at a party on an island about forty minutes off from Charleston, SC. I noticed a lump on top of my foot two nights ago and don’t know whether I should be concerned or not. The lump has turned into two marks, so I don’t know if it is a snake bite or something else. My foot still hurts, can anyone help me identify this? Thanks.
So today I discovered that I had been attacked. There is a small white pimple surrounded by red raised skin …what is it?
I know this is an old post but I am a nurse and have a good deal of wound/skin experience including having to be in hospital on IV antibiotics for 3 days for a community acquired MRSA (Staph) infection. Many of these I’m sure are bites, but I had two “bites” and was treated for the first two “bites” as if they were bites. Until someone finally recognized the next and 3rd one as a MRSA infection, treated me with those IV antibiotics and haven’t had a single one since. This infection can be easily passed, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s effecting close living/working/playing groups of people such as: multiple family members, summer camp students, gym members, fellow sports team members, and more. Should absolutely be seen by a doctor, have a culture sent and make sure you are being treated with the correct antibiotic (that will kill the actual bacteria that is causing the infection). So if you happen upon this page and think some of these pics look like a “bite” you have, consider MRSA and definitely, either for a bite or an infection, be seen by a health care professional for an accurate diagnosis… Someone also mentioned Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Syndrome (TENS), and if not mentioned “Necrotizing Fasciitis” the “flesh eating bacteria”. I worked in a very busy/high acuity BURN ICU for 6 years and in another Burn/Trauma unit before that and have seen all these devastating diagnosis in multiple stages and with a drastic variety outcomes. They are real, they are serious, and they are all given better prognoses when they are caught as early as possible. …………. Pics above that appear to have qualities similar to what MRSA can appear as include: Haley 11/8/7, Nik 10/20/7, Chris 10/19/7 (and would love to ask Chris if it drained a brown/red fluid), Donnita Acuff 9/28/7, Paula 9/19/7, Mary Ellen Scullin 9/18/7, Erica 9/6/7, Lorraine 8/19/7, Crystal Roper 7/24/7 (Description), Melanie 7/21/7, Suzanne 7/20/7. Didn’t read all the stories, but just a quick look at the pictures. Please share this with others too. It can be initiated by, diagnosed or misdiagnosed as a bite, ingrown hair, boil, abscess, pimple… and so on. Hope this helps someone.
IS THIS A SPIDER BITE? ITS ON THE BACK OF MY KNEE IT MUST HAVE CRAWLED UP MY PANT LEG I DON’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT KIND OF INSECT IT IS.
What kind of bite is this?
I have what I first thought to be mosquito bite on my forehead. This occurred on July 4th in the Los Angeles area. But, now after eight days, they are still there and look like small indented, very dark scabs. Two main ones close to each other, plus a few other smaller ones. I also have a fairly constant headache and the sores itch pretty badly sometimes. Oh, and starting tonight (July 12), my overall scalp/head itches in random areas for a few seconds at a time. Odd…
A former writer to this site, Nik (on October 20, 2007 at 12:45pm) has identical looking bites on his forehead as well. Can anyone give me further information?
I am not too familiar with this website and I am not certain on how or where to look for answers to my question. I only found questions, but no answers…
Please send any info to mndza [at] earthlink.net. Much appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Rubin M.
Malissa, the bites you are getting are bed bug bites.. I know because the last apartment I had bed bugs in it.
Last Thursday I got bit by something while walking on my front yard. I was watering the plants when I stepped and immediately felt an excruciating pain. I couldn’t even stand on my foot I had to sit and admittedly I cried. It got swollen and I put some ice on, that was the only thing that kept it from hurting. After a couple of hours I figured the pain would go away but it never did. It got swollen and red, since I thought it was a wasp or a hornet that stung me I squeezed to see if I could get anything out of there but I couldn’t even find the mark where I was bit. I guess that’s because it got swollen so quickly.
I couldn’t sleep through the night because of the pain. It didn’t itch at all for two days, all I got was pain and I could barely put any weight on that foot for those two days following the bite. After those two days it started itching, it also wasn’t swollen anymore and now it just wont stop itching, it’s been six days since the bite and it doesn’t stop itching, it’s to the point where I wake up in the middle of the night just because it itches. I try not to scratch it with my nails since I don’t want it to get irritated or get worse. By now I think its safe to say that it can’t be a bee sting since it’s still there for days, so any ideas of what it could be? maybe a garden spider? and which kind? should I go to the doctors or something? any help will be appreciated.

i recently noticed a bunch of what seemed like mosquito bites, they itch really bad, they are appearing everywhere. on my butt, stomach. on my stomach there are four evenly spread out bites and there are three inside my belly button. yesterday my dad looked at his leg and noticed that he had the same thing and then today my sister came to my house and she had the same thing as well. have no clue what it is but its not mosquitoes. i couldn’t even feel anything bite me but now my whole body is constantly itching any ideas. they look like regular mosquitoes but they get scabby and leak clear liquid. i probably have about thirty of them.
My daughter has a similar bite as well.
heres the deal: the blistery “pimple” like bumps with puss in them and a red circle around the entire blister is a fire ant bite, especially if it goes away after a week or two. If it were a spider bite it would look the same accept for about day 2 it would be turning purple/blue/black and you would most likely have nausea, body aches, chills, headaches, trouble walking, etc. If these symptoms occur visit your doctor immediately before it gets infected too badly. i know this because i thought i had a brown recluse bite that was actually a fire ant bite and visited my doctor about it.
Yesterday I was outside my house in the woods sitting on my 4-wheeler wen i felt something bite the side of my right forearm. I rubbed my arm and stood up then as i looked up there was a spider about an inch wide right in front of me it was brown but i didn’t know what kind it was i knocked it on the ground and then stepped on it without thinking. I went inside and put rubbing alcohol on it and then a cold compress over the next hour it turned bright red and was hot to the touch.
It swelled slightly, gave me extreme pain and itched like crazy. I went to sleep that night and this morning i woke up to find it swelled to the size of about a half dollar, it is bright red, the pain went down but it still hurts a little, and still itches like crazy. It looks a little discolored, with a bruise on the one side of the swelling. It hurts to move my shoulder and wrist on my right side. ANY IDEAS???? I need some.
I was wondering if someone might be able to identify this bite.
I noticed the bite a day after I went for a swim in a Tennessee river. It’s been 5 days since then. It doesn’t itch, or have any other symptoms although I’ve been experiencing some pain/soreness in my lower back as of the past 2 days. I didn’t pull a tick off and am fairly certain it’s not Lyme disease. Its basically just a red, painless ring, white in the middle.
Thanks so much!

Hi. About a month ago, I woke up with a black eye and after looking at it in a magnifying mirror, I saw a puncture mark. I went away in a few day without incident so I chalked it up to a weird incident. Yesterday at work, I scratched an itch on my forehead and came away with a little plug and thought it was a white head or zit. But when I looked in the mirror, I saw some discoloration which was hidden by my makeup. Last night when I washed my face thoroughly, the black and blue mark was revealed. The puncture mark is evident. So now I am freaked and wonder what is biting me!?? Can anyone help with any similar incidents or ideas. Thanks!

Hi, I am Titania, I live in Indonesia, I would like to know, what kind of insect bite is this? i think it’s almost like Brent who posted his picture of insect bite in August 25, 2007, I do also not feel the pain, unless i touch it, and it’s itchy sometimes. Do you know how to cure it..? Please help..thank you..
Sorry, a couple typos in the post about charcoal, from posting from a mobile phone. Activated, not “action aged”. Charcoal, not “char oak”, and powder, not “older”. my apologies.
If you have a spider bite, put an activated charcoal powder poultice on it!! This really works and could save you a ton of pain and money. Just mix action aged charcoal(you can buy this in capsule or plain powder form at any place that sells natural supplements).
If you have the capsules, empty the older into a dish. Mix it with any kind of oil, I use olive as its good for your skin anyway. The oil keeps the poultice from drying back to powder. Then just put it on gauze or paper towel or a bandage or what have you and place it directly on your bite. Charcoal has powerful absorbent properties and will suck the poison right.out within a couple of days. Just keep applying a new poultice every 6-8 hours. It really works miracles. I had a spider bite that I didn’t know was a spider bit until about 6 inches of my leg had turned dark purple with angry red lines shooting out of it. I put char oak on it and within three days it was greatly reduced, and entirely gone a couple days later. I’m telling you try it!!!
In the past two weeks I have been bitten three times by something. I have no idea what it is. The first bite, I thought it was from a mosquito because it was a red little bump and when I scratch around the bitten area it gets worse, because Im actually allergic to mosquito bites. Well then I started to doubt it was a mosquito bite because it soon started to swell up more and there was this little brown point and it was red and it got hard around the area. I decided to pop it and get whatever was in there out, which was a lot a pus. Now, like 4 to 5 days ago, I got bit once again in my right leg a few inches above my ankle. This bite has the same features as the first, I have left this one alone although its really swollen, red, and hard around the area also. Yesterday it got really swollen and the only thing I did was put some ice on it so the swelling would go down. Two days ago I got yet another bite on my arm, kinda by my elbow. This one hurts and itches a little more and has the same features as the last two. I have absolutely no idea what has bitten me please please help me out!
I am SO SORRY I don’t have a picture of my bite, but… Below is the description . ANYTHING WILL HELP.
It is on my neck, and I am a preteen. It is very light red and the size and shape of a large mosquito bite. It is surrounded by a pink rash made of tiny bumps. No rings, bruises or anything unlisted.
My mattress is about 5 years old, I do have an inside dog and cat but they both have flea and tick collars I live in NC. A very country area.
It itches but once scratched, it stings. I have had it for about 1 month
HHHHHEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPPPPPP!!!
My fiance thinks a brown recluse spider bite, I don’t know. Please let me know what you think.
I was bitten when asleep it feels like a pimple but then it got swollen.
Does anyone know if stucco/baseboard spiders bite people? I’m trying to figure out what’s biting my ankles and calves at night and I’ve seen them in my house. It leaves a bite like a mosquito but the welt is a little smaller. Thanks
Hi, I have a couple bug bites on my arms and don’t know what the are. The bite is about the size of a dime, pinkish in color and pretty flat. help me please.
To Amy who posted the pic of the baby in the diaper on Dec 5th 2009
Did you ever figure out what was going on your baby’s skin? My son is having the same issue and I’ve searched all over to find images of a similar rash and finally did when I saw the pic you posted. I notice my son wakes up fine but as the day progresses he gets these bumps on his exposed areas. I was thinking it has something to do with our carpet like mites etc.
I have some kind of bite on my arm. I was on my way from Kentucky to New york and pulled over to nap, when I woke up there was rash or bites all over my hand then as the day went by I seen I have more up the back of my arm. Not sure what it is?
any help would be appreciated, I am quite miserable.
Last week on Friday as I combed my hair I scratched the left side of my head by the hairline with the brush and it hurt, I noticed it was a red lump. I thought something bit me but thought nothing of it. The next day the left side of the face was itching, my eye was also itching horribly, my eyelid got swollen, red and it hurt. My forehead was very itchy, it also hurt. I got a headache. Then I developed a lump on the back of my ear, my left side of the face swelled up, it was very itchy. Another lump came up in my forehead and on my left eyebrow. Both were very itchy.
I went to the Dr, she told me I had a bug bite on my head and I also had a lymp node infection, asked me if I had been congested or sick, which I hadn’t. She gave me antibiotics and eye drops for my eye. Today is WED and the lump on my head still itches a lot, my forehead. The itching in my eye has eased, with the drops, but it still itches. The lump is red and now it’s throbbing. I’ve been getting headaches. What could have bitten me and what can I do?
About a week ago my daughter was complaining that her toe hurt. It looked like a mosquito bite on the ‘knuckle’ of her toe. i had her put a hot compress on it. now there is no more red bump but there’s was seems to be linear bruising under the skin with a small red dot. i saw no puncture wounds or anything. no sure if its even an insect bite:( please help
I have been getting bites for over 2 years now. After seeing a doctor, dermatologist and having exterminators coming to the house to see if they find anything I am still at a loss as to what it is.
Doctors think its “neurotic excoriation” and want me on anti depressants, ha ha not me, and dermatologist did a biopsy and it was negative however they chose where to biopsy which was a little new possible spider bite. Exterminators only find spiders and tell me they generally don’t bite.
Well if there isn’t anything biting me (leaving my husband alone) then how come I can’t see it?
I collect scabs because they don’t look like scabs to me. They have a tiny black dot or two on them and I don’t bleed when i pick them off. Yes I’m a picker….. I take tea tree baths with epsom salt, wash sheets regularly and put my clothes in the dryer before on my body. Still I am getting bitten or so that’s what I think. My butt mainly. Started on the back of my upper legs then to my upper arms and a couple on my face neck back and knee areas. I now have scars and as some heal others appear. My dog doesn’t have fleas. My carpet in my bedroom and family room is old but I keep it clean and vacuumed. I see big black spiders sometimes but again told they don’t bite. No one believes I am being bitten so I feel so alone in my problem. Reading here knowing others are going through this too helps some but no one offers answers.
I have another apt on April 1st so pray for me please. If you think you can help me please let me know and I’ll email you a pic of my bites.

For Margaret (sores that show up, itch, flake then go away) I have same thing, they are not bites, tho Dr. is also unsure (biopsied a few of mine). There is a medical name for it, but they do not know how it is contracted or how to treat it. As far as I know, it does not go away. On the upside, they say nothing serious (but if they’re so unsure of the skin disorder, then they really can’t know, can they) Dermatologist should be able 2 give u scientific name, sorry not more help.
I am wondering if Sue’s son was bitten by a scorpion of some kind because I have a friend that was bitten by one on the leg and his whole lower half swelled up the way her son’s is described and he had to have anti-venom to save his life. The other possibility may have been an out of control allergic reaction as an irritant spread through his system or a black widow spider maybe. My wife’s grandpa’s whole system was affected for three days by a black widow bite and it almost took him to the other side. They can be very dangerous.
So Sorry for your loss Sue.
I suggest you check the yard professionally if you can and make sure you and family will be safe out there and maybe for personal allergies to things in the yard too if you can. Best to you and yours.
Okay well i had been bitten last week. it was just in my bedroom. i have no idea where the spider went but its no where around there now. the bite is an oval shaped ring. the ring is red and is swelling but not to a level where it is easily noticed. in fact. it looks like a hickey. but in the center it’s gray and pale. it hasn’t gotten any better so i was wondering what i should do. i can fit 2 dimes side by side.
I just moved into a new home around 10/1/2010 and we have the master upstairs looks like it was a add on. I seem to keep getting bit by some unknown source that leaves a swollen ichy red mark. My boyfriends sleeps in the same room, same bed and he hasn’t had any bites till just last month. We’ve bombed, sprayed treated for bed bugs and flees, but I still keep getting bit and my last bite looks more like a spider bite.
My little brother has a pretty big bump on his leg (about the same circumference of your thumb and forefinger circled) that looks like a bruise but is white in the center. It’s slightly raised and not bothering him at all, but it’s worrying my mom. I just want to know if it sounds like anything particularly dangerous.
I live in Westminster, Colorado.
There’s a bug bite on my upper arm, and I’m not sure what caused it. It hurts REALLY badly, so badly that’ it’s hard to type right now. The bite is raised, surrounded by red, white on the bite, but no blister. I’ve been thinking it was a spider bite, but spider bite usually have blisters ontop of them. Please help, it really hurts!
BTW: I can’t go the doctor. I’m a minor and my parents won’t take me to the doctor because of a simple bug bite.
About it happened three days ago(Friday night it’s now Monday night) as I was laying in bed. I just turned my lamp out and I feel something bite me near the crease on the inside of your arm where it bends. I don’t know what to call it. I turned the light back on and I couldn’t see any puncture wound or bug of any sort, so i shrugged it off and went to sleep. The next morning it was tender around where I felt the bite and under my arm. It’s now swollen and real tender to touch. Do you know what bit me? What I should do?
I’ve been getting bitten by what might be fleas or bed bugs. However, I can find no bugs on the furniture or in the house, and all of my animals are treated with both pills and a topical treatment for fleas, ticks, mites, etc. After two days of itching, a red wound with what seem like two punctures appeared on my chest with tiny red streaks running away from it, but the spot is scabby. I think I might have scratched it in my sleep, so I can’t tell if there are two punctures for sure. I’m a little bit worried that I’ve been breaking out in a rash instead of being bitten by bugs, but they really seem like bug bites, because I see absolutely no bugs anywhere. They’re little red itchy bumps, and some have a tiny head of yellowish white puss. When I first notice them, they’re a cluster of classic hives with one painful hive, but then the hives go away and the single bump with the puss appears where the pain was. If I try to scratch them, the pussy spot stings like I have a splinter, then itches insanely worse than before, so I haven’t bothered to scratch any more. They’ve appeared around my buttocks, on the backs of my thighs, on the center of my chest (in a ring around the weird bite that now has streaks coming away from it), on the backs of my arms, under my arms (on my sides, under my armpits where there is no hair), right next to my eye, under my chin, under my ears, on the side of my neck, and on my back.
They aren’t particularly numerous. One to five bites per limb/area. None of the bites are in warm areas or skin folds or places with hair. I’m concerned because I also got a very bad headache and a stiff/crampy back and neck for no apparent reason the morning after the itching began. The back and neck and head pain was bad enough to make my eyes water. I have felt extremely lethargic and depressed for the past two days since then (very weird for me- I have no reason to feel depressed or tired), and my heart has been racing. Does anyone know what’s biting/bitten me?
ATTENTION PEOPLE WITH “SPIDER BITES:” Half of the “bites” described and pictured on these pages look like CA-MRSA (community acquired Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, as differentiated from the MRSA you get in a hospital) infections. They are often misdiagnosed as spider bites, but they are highly contagious staph infections. Once you get CA-MRSA in your house, it’s very difficult to get rid of it. Regular Clorox Bleach wipes will not kill MRSA, but Lysol bathroom or general cleaner will.
Please be aware that (I have been plagued with these things–as have other members of my family–and I’ve read a ton of info) the best treatment for CA-MRSA is drainage. This needs to be done by a doctor, or you run the risk of spreading the infection internally. In most cases, this infection is just superficial, but trying to pop or squeeze the hard boil will result in the spreading of the infection.
I’m especially concerned by these people on this site talking about “bites” that keep appearing that are clearly MRSA infections. If you have a very red, angry looking tender and excruciatingly painful red spot that feels like a deep underground pimple/cyst, it’s far more likely that you’re dealing with MRSA than a spider bite. Please read the CDC’s information on CA-MRSA infections and don’t let a doctor just give you oral antibiotics. The best course of action is drainage! Oral antibiotics are necessary in some cases (even IV antibiotics if you let the infection burrow too deeply into the skin or if it spreads into your bloodstream), but drainage should always be the first approach. Soaking in a warm bath, sitz bath or using hot compresses also offers relief. But once the bacteria gets into your skin it walls itself off and there is little you can do except drain the pus out.

I noticed that I’ve been getting bite marks on my body (mostly my legs) lately and its usually multiply bite marks at a time.
So I was just using the computer and I noticed that my right leg felt itchy. I lifted up my jogging bottoms and I saw a very small black insect on my leg!! Around the size of an ant, if not smaller. I immediately grabbed some tissue and I squeezed it. Red blood was on the tissue and the bug was still alive after I tried squeezing it to death! I took pictures of it with my phone but the quality isn’t so great but I would appreciate it if someone could identify it as this is the second time that I’ve seen the insect bite me! The bites are itchy and stings just a little bit.
Description: it was flat when I squished it and it was still walking. Black. 6 legs. Don’t think it has wings. Smaller than an ant.
Also I live in the UK and I don’t have cats or dogs.
Thank you for your time!
about 2 days ago about this time. I was laying on my bed playing around on my laptop. When I noticed a really bad itch i had on my right foot. So i went to the bathroom and saw these 2 quarter size bumps. and now its itching and a little sore…no bite mark and one of them is a little hard bump. i don’t know what bit me..help?
leaving in Wyoming we went cutting wood in a area if pine needle bugs which kill pine trees,
not sure what kind of bite, but itched, turned red, very swollen, heeled somewhat than one day my leg started to itch again, area was very hot swollen and the area is hard. I pricked the the center and green fluid and some bleed coming out than I saw this little very small dot squeezed the area, and this small yellowish size of which looked like end of lead pencil I took a pair of tweezers and pull out this thing somewhat hard but soft to. still swollen and fluid still comes out was this some kind of bite or what!
I have no idea what bug bit me but it’s pink all around and it has a little white dot right in the middle of it. It’s a bump but I don’t know how to post a picture of it. It stings and I have no idea when I got it, it looks sorta like a zit.
i have the same bite on the back of my neck and i don’t know what its from i was just wondering if you got any responses as to what its from. any info would be greatly appreciated
I have found a couple of bites like this on myself in the last 2 days. I don’t know where they are coming from! I have searched my house up and down and even washed all of my clothes again. And I still had the 2nd one pop up! It is worrying me a little since the target like ring around it is usually not known as a good sign. Please let me know if you figure out what this is =)
Hi,
I have something on my left leg. It’s red, really hot, and hurt really bad. It doesn’t itch. We were looking at a house in Gravity IA, it has trees, a few sheds and an old garage. I was sitting on the driveway next to the garage and I felt something like a bite. I shouted and swatted at the place where I was bit, to get anything that was on off. The next day it itched like a mosquitoes bite and I scratched it. The next day it still itched, I scratched it and it really hurt. After that it stopped itching and about two hours later it started turning red and swelling. I don’t have any pictures but at the top of this site there are four pictures, it looks like the one with the nickle next to it. It will hurt in spurts and my leg will shingle from just below the bite (right above my ankle) to the bottom of my knee and back down.
If I sit for too long it hurts to walk, I also can’t sleep on my left side because it hurts too much. It had so much puss (I think) that when you touched it it would leave a dip down on the bite, which would fill back up. My dad told me to try to get the puss out, I couldn’t do it so I had to have my brother do it. I had to close my eye tight and pinch my nose, covering my mouth so I wouldn’t scream. It really hurt. Now it is still hot, is flat, red, very sensitive, and hard. Any ideas?
Joanna
About #95, what was it identified as and I too was at a camp fire circle the night before this happened to me. Interesting. I am in upstate New York.
What was #95? I have the same thing but on a smaller scale on my feet and hands.
I noticed this spider bite(?) on my toes 3 days ago. It has gotten bigger and itches. I have been putting benedryl spray on it and trying my best not to scratch it. Should I go to Dr? Sending you a pic now.
Help! Is this a spider bite or tick bite? I just noticed it yesterday and today it got bigger its not as bad as some of these but I tend to worry a lot Should I go to a doctor?
I live in Littleton, CO. I was out walking my dog this morning when I felt a sharp pain on my knee. When I looked down I saw a large round black insect on my leg. My instinct was to swat it away which I did. I’m pretty sure it was a black spider. It was too large to be a mosquito and was not shaped like a bee or wasp.
While finishing my walk, I noticed that the pain was not subsiding and the area was starting to swell. I went back home and immediately applied peroxide in hopes it would draw whatever venom/poison out.
It’s been almost an hour and the sting has not gone away. I’ve chosen to elevate my leg and stay still to avoid spreading the venom/poison. I have applied peroxide several times but the wound seems to scab up instantly and its painful to scrape off in order for the peroxide to get in.
The wound resembles a small puncture wound with redness and slight swelling around the area. The swelling is not in specific shape like a circle but it definitely surrounds the wound. I have never been bitten by a spider and so I am unaware of what to do next. All I can say is that it stings really bad. Please advise.
The bite is a bit itchy and burns a little, and some of the blisters have popped on their own and leave yellow crusty stuff. It’s hard to tell from the picture but its a bit red around the blisters too but that could be from me trying not to itch the actual area.
my sister has what looks like a pimple on her back but it is surrounded by a white circle does anyone have any idea what it is?
#354, that is Ringworm. It is HIGHLY contagious so go see a doc asap! and don’t let anyone touch it unless it’s a doctor wearing cloves.
five days ago i woke up with a red dot on my thumb. at first i thought it was a mosquito but it didn’t itch. now it has grown to be half an inch in diameter and i can see three puncture marks. that same day i found three small brown spiders in my room by my cats old bed.
I woke up about a week ago with several bites on my back and one under my rib cage. After using cortisone alcohol and ice it is still itching and burning. It was red and swollen but now there is this tiny black spot but it still itches and burns. Is it too late to go to the doctor or should I just wait this out?
I’m not sure how this site works, but the pic on #354 is whats on my leg too. I live in West Haven, CT and have been fighting bed bugs for over a year. I have 5 kids and need to know if this is a spider bite or the bed bug bites are getting uglier? Thank you for your help.
Every summer I get tiny little bites that itch severely on my lower legs, and arms. What are they? & what can I do to prevent them? I live in Greensboro, NC. I see no insects. No mosquitoes. Nothing. They’re driving me crazy! Please advise. Thank you.
I have a huge red circle maybe the size of a frisbie, and I noticed it keeps getting bigger. It has no scar just a tiny dot in the middle. It’s on my upper thigh and like I said it’s getting larger and larger. I tried cream and it will not work. And I refuse to go to the hospital. All I need to know is what it’s called and what can I do/use to heal it. please I need to know as quickly as possible. Okay Thank-You.
I woke up today with what I felt was two slightly painful bug bites on my leg. Being late for work, I rushed out the door without any closer examination. The pain was a slight irritation that persisted for a couple hours while I was at work whenever my pants rubbed against the bites. When I had a minute, I checked them out again and noticed it wasn’t exactly two bites, but an oval shaped blister about an inch, inch and a half long. By this time it had popped and I cleaned the pus from the bite. Two slightly smaller, slightly harder mounds still remain, and I am not sure if these are also pus blisters or perhaps hardened tissue.
The bite is slightly irritated and remotely red, but not to any extreme extent. I’ve been keeping ice on the bite as a precautionary step, but I am not sure if it is serious enough to go to the doctor right away or wait and see how it develops within the next day. Through internet searches (which aren’t helping my nerves at all) everything seems to point to a brown recluse spider bite. I live in south eastern Michigan where, as I understand, these spiders are not too common.
Anybody have any similar circumstances?
Two or three nights ago I was outside with some friends until about 11:30 in their backyard. I got bitten by something, a lot. I have approximately 21 bites. They are located on my back, neck, elbow, both legs, and both feet. Their is an abandoned house down the street with an in ground pool full of water, with obviously will attract Mosquitoes. I’m thinking I had an allergic reaction to the bites…? They itch insanely and sometimes my feet hurt/cramp up. Any suggestions as to what I have been bitten by? By the way, I live in the center of Indiana and I’m 13.
My sister was bitten about 4 days ago by something though I’m not sure what. It has since inflated and was popped causing pus to leave. She has not been to the doctor yet, I have been hoping to identify the type of bite it is before seeking medical attention. I believe she was home when when she was bitten. We live in the Philadelphia, PA area. Please help us identify the type of bite and if its something serious.
Last Tuesday, (6/30/10) I found a mark on my left pinky that hurt pretty bad. I popped it. Immediately, since the skin did not return to it’s position as it would with a zit of some kind, I knew it was different. Well, since I live in FL, there’s two possibilities. One, a spider bite or fire ant bite. That night when I was bitten, there were ants crawling on me. And, spiders, I haven’t seen much except that very horrifying large one a few months ago. Anyways, my pinky is in constant pain. If anything rubs it, hits it, it hurts. It’s a throbbing, burning, stinging pain. Not itching. I’ve popped the thing 3 times now. Where the bite is, it’s gone up toward the left side of the knuckle and down a little. It was red and today (7/3/10) it is purple. I mean, we’ve tried soaking it in hot water with salt, vinegar, neosporin, NOTHING is working It’s turned purple as of now. I hope I can go to the doctors soon. 🙁
I live in Madrid, Spain and two days ago I went to a barbecue where i was sitting on the grass for a while.
I didn’t feel anything much at the time but at some point I thought I might have been bitten by something.
The next morning I woke up with a really itchy ankle and since then it’s gone from that to quite a painful reaction. When I put pressure on that foot I feel incredible pain. Today it was ok after I got used to the pressure and actually I played football without it troubling me at all but tonight after I had been sitting with my feet up for a while I tried to go to the kitchen and couldn’t walk on the bitten foot.
I’ve sent a close up of the bite and a picture of my entire foot for the scale. I’ve highlighted an area around the bite that has gone quite hard and is really painful to touch.
Tomorrow I’m going to seek medical help for this and will send an update of the situation.
Thanks for this website. It’s really helpful!
On my upper back thighs I have noticed that when I’m trying to sleep I keep itching and it’s been keeping myself from sleeping the past couple of nights.I don’t believe it’s bed bugs, none were found on or in my bed, and although I haven’t had the pox or the pox vaccine and I’m 14 years of age, the bites don’t resemble any pictures in which I’ve seen. The bites are 1-3 millimeter size, a dark pink maybe red color, and I haven’t been out of town or to a friends house.
I got bit on my finger about 26 hours ago by something while I was in Florida. It looked like a mosquito bite at first, red and raised in the center. I’m not sure when it changed, I’m assuming over night, but now the raised area is white, sometimes a light pinkish, and a good chunk of what was red now looks like a bunch of dots, sort of like blood clots. There is still a bit of area that is red as well. It’s fairly small too, only about the size of my finger nail. I’d really appreciate help in IDing what this is so I can stop panicking. Thanks!
Oh I forgot to mention, the day after I got out of the hospital I found a baby brown recluse in my sons room, at least I thought it might be. Then one week later my kids yell they found another spider under the crib in my sons room I run in there and kill it. I looked online and saw that in indeed looked just like a brown recluse, decided i better clean out my sons room really good. Moved all the furniture and found one more dead under his dresser and one under a shoe alive in his closet, put them in a jar.Had the exterminator come out and spray and confirmed they were indeed brown recluse spiders, ever since I pretty much find them daily on glue traps. Or crawling on the floor on our white carpets in the bedrooms. Finally convinced my hubby to clean out the garage where there has been a lot of brown recluse spider. Ahhh..
So here is my story. On Friday May 21, 2010 I hoped out of bed like usual, noticed that my right arm near armpit was a bit sore. We had plans to take our kids to six flags, so I showed my husband and told him I think I must have been bit in my sleep by a spider. Go on to six flags and around noon i noticed that my arms looks red, like I had tiny flat bumps on my arms that somewhat resembled a sun burn, by six when the park was closing I noticed that my legs looks red. I was really thirsty. On the way home I developed chills and generally felt crappy. When I got home and jumped in the shower I saw that my entire body was red, bright red like I had been sun burned really badly, face puffy and I was freezing. I layed in bed with my legs crossed over one another and could tell my heart was beating fast. I called my mom and asked her if any of us children has ever had a reaction like this from a spider bite.
Next morning woke up and told my husband I need to go the the dr, I felt as if I couldn’t keep my head up, i just wanted to lie down. when I get to the urgent care facility, the nurse taking my vitals thought I was sunburned( I had SPF 85 on the day before at the theme park) I assured her my entire body was red. My pulse was 158 and I had a weak pulse, and fever around 102. I was severely dehydrated so that wanted to start me on an Iv fluids. They had the hardest time finding my veins, which usually isn’t the case, finally the put me in a surgical type room in the clinic and the Dr came in to try his hand at finding a vein for the iv, he tilting me up and down, looking at my feet, tried several times in my jugular and started pulling down my pants looking for a deeper vein in my legs. The nurse thankfully felt like she found a lil vein in my hand and was sucessful. They were able to draw the blood and start the IV, He thought I had Toxic shock syndrome, so did a pelvic exam. Started me on two antibiotics at the clinic and sent me home with my iv still intact to come back the next day for more fluids and Iv. Sunday comes still running fever and looking a really puffy and still red and running fever. My arm just below the bite started looking purple and really swollen. Finished another round of antibiotics and went home. Monday I was to return to the clinic, and I did. There was another Dr there and he thought as well it was Toxic shock from a spider bite. I wasn’t feeling any better so we decided to play it safe and go the the ER for further evaluation. My white blood count was even higher that on Saturday and they started me on two more IV antibiotics and admitted me. Heart rate was around 130. Had antibiotic every eight hours. Tuesday the Infectious disease Dr came in and thought that I had a systemic reaction to a recluse spider bite. Took me off of antibiotics and put me on depsone for the necrosis.
Two days later my hands and feet had red spots on them that felt like blisters, very painful esp to put your hands in warm water, my body started peeling like I had a sunburn. Area just under bite that was purple, turned into a scab and peeled off. Hand and feet peeled two weeks after the bite and cuticles on my hands and feet fell off.
My husband was working in a timber mill Wed night..in England…didn’t notice anything until he came home from work Thu morning (it is now Fri night) and he has 3 bites…near his knee,on his ankle and on his arm. Trying to find out what bit him as he has had a bad reaction to them….he’s in lot of pain..temperature,drained,swollen,red..was oozing orange colored, transparent fluid and can barely move leg now. Got meds from doctor but still trying to find out what bit him. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated…thanks!! Bec
I have developed these bumps in 3 days after being bitten by a tick (I found, and removed the tick within 4 hours). Are these bumps related to a tick bit, or something else. I was in a heavily wooded area (Northern FL) fishing when I got the tick on me. The tick was on my back, and there is a bump where I removed him. But there are also bumps on mt inner thighs near groin area, under my arms, more on back, and some on stomach. They have a reddish raised appearance, with a white center that contains what looks like a pinhole in the middle. Should I be concerned, or is this something non-threatening that will go away on its own. I am sending 3 photos. Is this even tick-related, or something else?
put it under a microscope and see 2 large pincers….. No other symptoms but expanding rash and itch. I work at a research agency so I may are still there, disproportionate to how it looks (just light pink, flat area). But I noticed this am in the sunlight light streaks coming from the area towards my elbow,

So, I got some sort of insect bite on the top of my right foot two days ago while looking for something in my car barefoot. I didn’t feel anything, but after about 10 minutes I looked down and I saw something that closely resembled a mosquito bite, and itched slightly. I went to bed that night with it looking like that; the next morning my foot was swollen and red for about an inch to two inches around the bite. Although nothing showed, it felt bruised and was difficult to put shoes on.
I’ve been taking benadryl and trying to elevate it, but nothing seems to be working. Today the condition persisted until about 6-7:00 PM, when the foot in question swelled more, the skin got hot and tight, and the foot started to be difficult to move. The color of the skin changed about two shades deeper from a pink to a deeper red. I don’t know if this is a spider bite, because there is no ring or anything around it, but I’ve never had any reaction on this scale to any mosquito or ant, fire or no. If it’s not a spider bite, what is it?
I went to bed feeling a small bite on my arm itching. Woke up feeling dizzy, sick, stomach ache, leg pain, and just not quite right. Noticed the next day that I had 3 bites on my calf that itched like crazy. Now they are oozing and red circled, and still itching. But I do feel better…Any ideas? Any suggestions for treating? Thanks!
Last Monday, I noticed a red area (the size of a nickle) developing on my calf. Now, a week later, its about an inch in diameter and is black and blue in the middle (no white halo). Oh, and I also have poison ivy which doesn’t help the situation. I’m really worried about the bite and am currently on antibiotics b/c my doctor is not sure what it is. I would appreciate some feedback for my issue..I’m getting scared b/c it hasn’t gotten any better since the black and blue appeared last Thursday.
on my right ankle i have a small circle of red bumps. they don’t hurt or itch really but i found it rather weird that 90% of the hair in the circle is gone. the circle is about the size of a dime or penny. any suggestions as to what this is or maybe just an allergic reaction. i am allergic to dust mites.
i have a hard bump above my temple it has a small hole like a bite it is sore. now i woke up and the side it is on my eye is puffy under it like water in it what is this?
hi im drew and about 18 hours ago i woke up and noticed that my right knee was extremely sore and when i looked it looked like a giant pimple so of course i popped it thinking it would go away and i am having the same exact symptoms as the earlier comment by

I woke up this morning with a bruise on my right foot but the weird thing is, I didn’t drop anything, run into anything, and I wasn’t stepped on. There’s no reasonable explanation for the bruise. I had been out by the campfire last night and wearing flip flops, and the mosquito were horrible. There are little red marks where the mosquito bit me but there is a huge circle around the top and center of my foot. As the day went on, the bruise stayed the same color, but it started to swell as time went on tonight. It’s about 4 inches in diameter and it hurts to walk. I showed my mom who said it’s most likely a spider bite and to give it a couple days to stop swelling. I took a picture on my phone that I’ll send, but I don’t know how well you can see it. Thank you for helping me!!
i got bit by a bug and i have 6 little bite marks in the center of forearm. It itches really bad and its very hard in the center. when i scratch it, it hurts. within the last couple of days the spot has started to cover up more of my forearm. Hopefully someone can help me out.
Thanks.
Got bite 4 days ago on the back of my leg…I had no swelling..It looks like a little red Dot..It hasn’t bigger got nor smaller..but actually it looks the same… my only concern is my leg is very sore.. it has lighten up some, but still sore..I went to the doc. and she said it didn’t look like a spider bite, but just wondering when my leg soreness will go a way…..Thanks so much…I need feedback..
My 7 yr old was bit by something thought to be a spider bite. We didn’t know he had been bitten by anything and sent him to school the next morning. About an hour in we received a call that his right elbow was swollen, had two fang-looking marks, fever in the elbow, and red blotches around it. The picture I am sending shows his bite when we got to the ER (his pediatrician recommended we go straight there since it was swelling so quickly) He had visited my brother’s house the night prior and when I told my brother where we were and why, he informed that he killed two large wolf spiders later that evening my son had visited and one had babies on her back (maybe making her more aggressive?)
ER doc told us he couldn’t identify exactly what the bite was and treated with a large dose of antibiotics injected and a ten-day 500mg Keflex dose 3x day for home. Do these look like a wolf spider bite? My son said his arm “tickled” and felt like it was asleep but never hurt or itched? Can’t seem to find pictures of wolf spider bites anywhere. Your input is appreciated. We are fairly positive that this isnt a brown recluse, however, the doctor wasn’t so I’d like your advice. Thanks!!
I have small white welps on me, this has been going on for 3 days now. I get them they itch and go away within a hour or so. Seem to get them mainly while sleeping . Sometimes I get several small ones in a circle or line. ??? What in the world is this?
getting bit…do not see it or hear it. I live in the woods of southern Ohio. The bite are very itchy, raised and start getting itchy if I get to hot. I’ve tried to treat with cortisone cream. How do I identify something I don’t see?
I have the same bite as picture 17 on my arm. Been there for a few days and wouldnt go away. I messed with it and now its 3 times the area and beet red. Odd thing the area is real hot to me as well. Can someone tell me what the spider is that causes this damage? We live in the Pacific Northwest, good old Spokane WA/ And I have been bit by a brown recluse before. I dont remember these problems though
on the #299 that is a spider bite. Its from a common garden spider. We have them here in Colorado. If you use a mild lotion for itch it will pass. It takes a few days and will get better. Some are sore also but that will also pass. DO NOT POP THEM OR SQUEEZE them it will make the bite a whole lot worse and get very painful. The popping of them will release the poison into the blood stream and it can cause problems. Just leave the bite alone and it will go away after a few days. If you pop the bumps it will last for weeks.
i slept at a friends house and woke up with a bite mark on my back i went home and the bites multiplied. now i have 6 on my hands my forearm there is two my lower back there is about 26 and my somach has about 10 . 2 on my foot and 3 on my boobs . im freaking out they look exsactly like misquito bites but the ones on my back where welts . and they itch like crazy.
hi! My son is seven years old and came home from a relatives house this weekend with a bite on his left wrist. It has four puncture sites and a very light red ring around the bite. He has had diarrhea and vomiting all day. (has had a slight temp of 98.9) A friend of his has the same symptoms but no bite (maybe a virus?). I can’t tell if the bite is related to the symptoms or not. I have boiled out the bites w/peroxide, this seems to have abated the itching. Any thing specific that I need to watch for? There also seems to be a slight fever coming from it. Thanks for the assistance!!!

I got bit stung probably several months ago. I didn’t catch what the bug looked like, I was taking out cardboard at my job and then all I know is it hurt like a son of a gun, and then swelled and turned very white like a bunch of venom was going in me. It was swollen for a couple days. And now its been months and i still have a spot on my hand that itches and feels like a bite, its not swollen tho. I’m poor and don’t want to go to the doctor if i don’t have to does any one know what this might be ?
I got a spider bite on my ear (kinda’ in the inside). The reason I say it is a spider bite is because you can see the two little dots that spiders usually leave. It is getting swollen and I have pain behind my ear and it is starting to run down the right side of my neck. The only thing you can see if the swollen part where the bite is. There is nothing where I am getting the pain but I am noticing that the pain is growing and hurting more.

symptoms sound more like a Tarantula bite, poisonus spider, or centipeed.
I suspect the last. The time table ans symptoms fit the best. Species Ostigmus I think, they can cause vesicles to form, be painful for several hours, nausia and even vomiting. can last up to 48 hrs on average. red could be a rxn to inflamation, chemicals in the bite or even noisom bacteria from the centipeed. I know more about desert varieties..
But to be safe. Did he test you for parasites? If you got bitten with by a mosqueto in tiland you may have picked up a nematode, or a virus, or a bacteria…
If it is a centipeed: Disenfect: I use iodie. Ice and take antihistamines. Good luck what ever you decide.
I wanted to post this picture of a bite I got in northern Thailand. I wasn’t in the jungle or anything. I live in a town called Mae Sot and I was sitting at my dining room table when I think I got bitten. Actually I didn’t notice anything dramatic, but at some point, I noticed something strange on my foot, which i scratched. a few hours later, I started to feel pain all over my foot. That night, the swelling was very noticeable. I got nausea and chills but no fever.
This photo was taken about 36 hours after the bite happened. There is still swelling and redness, with a purple/black center to the open wound site. At 36 hours, the pain was still quite intense, made worse with any kind of activity and the swelling and pain prevented me from bending my foot in any way so i could hardly walk. There were a few red lines starting to creep up my leg and the redness was growing. I went to the hospital in my town, where the doctor told me I had been bitten…. by a mosquito. I was prescribed paracetamol (Tylenol) and ibuprofen. I’ve been icing it and today, day 3, the swelling and pain has gone down and I am getting better. Still, I would very much like to know what other people think because all I know is this wasn’t any kind of mosquito bite!
Still trying to figure out what bit my friend.

But if there is a deep hole in the center literally, a hole then you may have a parasite. Imbeded tick, bot fly, etc. I have seen the things.. If I have understood you the only thing to do is sufficate it. Petrolium jelly, or somthing thick. If it’s a a larvae it will die and fall out if it’s a tick it will suficate. If there is a local UNiversity talk to an entamologist. Most American Doctors literally wouldn’t know a Dr if it bit them.. Either way find some one who knows insects and parasites rather than some one who perscribes antibiotics. But don’t wait! good luck.

Hi. Yesterday morning I went out paddling on the river where we live (South Africa), this is something we do almost daily. A few minutes into the paddle, I felt a stinging sensation on my upper leg, just inside my shorts. Didn’t think too much about it. I was aware of it for the whole paddle. When I got home, it looked like a Mosquito bite, but with a noticeable hole in the middle. It was not itchy, but burny. Later during the day, it formed a dark (dark red / purplish colour) mark in the middle, with the skin raised around it (quite a big area, but the raised skin is not red). It burns a lot, and is sore to the touch. I have no idea what this could be. I didn’t get to see what it was that bit me.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Something bit while sleeping… it’s a little itchy, but not too bad, any ideal what it might be?
Hi, I found your blog or something online, and it said to email you the picture of the bite to see what kind it is. I think I got this bite yesterday, the bite itself doesn’t look bad, just a spot with a bruise but ever since about that time I’ve been getting dizzy, and my right eye gets blurry sometimes. I don’t know its its related, but it seems to be. The picture isn’t great, its just through my phone and its hardly showing up. The bruise is much darker. Not like, soo dark but definitely noticeable. The same color as a vein, really. But yesterday, it was a red spot, and a small, but tall bruised bump. Today it is a small red spot again, with a bruise with a weird shape- above & below the spot, and to the left of it. My biggest concern is the dizziness, if you think it could be related. Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

My husband started getting these small bites and I didn’t have any and then suddenly I started getting them to. We aren’t sure when we get bitten but it just pops up. Its a slightly raised small round itchy red bite with a tiny needle prick hole on the side of it. They aren’t in clusters, just kind of around our body sporadically.
I have 1 on my back, my chest and my leg. My husband has most of his on his inner thighs

Here the photo(s) of my insect bite.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate any kind of information!
This just doesn’t look like a normal blister.. any ideas?
Looks like a blister on the bottom of my foot, with a thin red ring, and weird shape a bit larger than a quarter but not “round.”
Thanks, Robert
This is an image from a week after noticing the bite(the bite is on the hand, wrist area). The doctors have identified it as a spider bite, but we would like to know what type of spider this may have been from. after day 2 he started complaining of pain when lowering the hand. from day 4 on was having pains on the elbow joints.
We appreciate any input. Thank you!
hey
me and my husband have been bitten by something and we don’t know what it could be we recently bought a used bed and now we are experiencing small red bites on our bodies, it’s beginning to be really bad because we don’t know where there coming from or how were getting them. they are very small red bumps with a white center there is no pus or swelling but each time we check we find more and more.please if you have any idea please contact us and let us know
thank you
Hello. Lately I’ve been getting these bug bites that come up as pink bumps, the biggest being about the size of a quarter, and the smallest are a bit smaller than a dime. There are usually just a few of them, 5 at most, that appear in concentrated spots like my hand and arm or on my neck and face. They last for about a week and a half, and once they’re close to gone, new ones appear. They usually itch like crazy.
I’ve never actually seen what’s bitten me. Once or twice I’ve felt a little pain right before noticing the bite, but normally I don’t, and I’m awake when most of the bites appear. I’m also the only one in my house getting the bites; I live with both my parents. My mom is convinced they’re flea bites, but from images I’ve seen online they look nothing like flea bites. I’ve looked for signs of bed bugs, but I haven’t found any. Please help me identify them if you can.
A slightly raised, pale circle has appeared on my shoulder. It is not much different than my skin tone. it feels very bruised but shows no sign of it. I have this before, but without the pain. It is less than a centimeter around, and I suspect and hope it is just a bug bite.
Any idea what this is, and why is may hurt?
For all bites, unless bitten by a very poisonous insect, find something from the shops that bears the name of virgin coconut oil I’m sure you’ll find it amazing. I have tried it with bee bites and others.
#492- did you ever find out what bit you?
Did it go away? I recently moved into an old house and was doing yard work Saturday. It wasn’t until Monday at work that I noticed I was bit. That evening when I got home I examined my calf further and their is a white pimplish bump that hurts like crazy.
Please let me if i need to go to the doctor or just use rubbing alcohol. 🙂
Anyone that knows the answer is more than welcome to give me a little feed back, laleeshw [at] aol.com

Everything here is about spider bite, what about flea bit or something else that you dont see? something is biting me in my bed that i don’t see. No it’s not bed bug. Can you help?
Need to know if these are spider bites on his leg?
I woke up this morning with two small puncture like holes on my neck. It is slightly swollen and red it look kinda like there’s pus in the holes. I am in pain but have no other symptoms any one know what this could be?
I am a 21 year old female living in Charlotte, North Carolina and I have had a scar on my leg as long as I can remember. It is slightly darker than the surrounding skin and slightly more grey-ish in color. The skin itself has a stretched look to it, like a healed burn might look. What is more is the fact that that particular spot is paralyzed, or permanently numb. It is about the size of a nickel and does not grow hair. When I asked my mom about it, she told me that when I was about two years old, she heard me crying and came running and found what looked like a bite on my leg.
Naturally she took me to the doctor like any terrified, loving mother would do – only she can’t remember what he said anymore. I’m guessing it must not have been dangerous, but I still want to know what kind of bug or spider could possibly do this? I mean, I know it’s small, but it still destroyed the nerve endings there so that I can’t feel and somehow managed to keep me from growing hair there. It seems like, if one were to be bitten in the wrong place, it could do some serious damage. Anyone have any idea about what it could be?
Anyone know what sort of creature caused this?
I was running errands on Sunday and became aware of a painful spot on my leg. I have dogs and cats, and assumed that I’d been scratched, so I just ignored it. When I was driving home from the pet store, I began feeling really, really sick – feverish, chills, shaking like crazy, etc. I got home, piled on blankets and sweatpants and fleece, and still couldn’t get warm. Finally I fell asleep and woke up again a few hours later. I’d taken some Advil so the fever & chills had calmed down a bit. I never made the connection between the fever and the bite, but the next day I realized that the area on my leg had swelled up and felt hard, had a blister in the center surrounded by a red area, and the red area was surrounded by a white ring. Today the blister is even larger and is about to pop. I covered the area with gauze to ease some of the pain from rubbing, but it’s not helping much. It hurts like heck and I’m limping around. At least the fever was gone by this morning.
I’m thinking spider bite. I live in NW Georgia and there are several spider species that could cause a reaction in a person, but I’m just curious to know what this might be. If there’s no improvement by Friday I’ll go to the doctor.
I got bit under my thigh today, it hurt like a bee sting and I jumped up and yelled but there was no stinger. Initially, it looked like there was a circular small bite taken out of my thigh, like an apple bite, but now almost 7 hours later it’s a white bump and very small. It hurt all day, but the pain has dulled considerably. I live in Socal, so if anyone thinks they know what bit me pls let me know! Thanks
i woke up on Thursday morning with a blackish dot on my cheek. i just thought it was a strange pimple. that night i pricked it and blood oozed from it. it is not a raised lump but in fact a deep one. the next morning it was sore and was a huge bump under the skin. by that afternoon it started to swell and the swelling has risen into my lower eyelid. its sore to the touch and when pricked, blood just pores out. what could it be? the large bump is not discolored , however where the head of the bump is, it is red and black (blood color)
please help.
I noticed a red bump that i thought to be a pimple on my chest. I tried over and over for 2 days to pop it but it wouldn’t pop. now it looks like a tiny bite on the middle and its red around. i squeeze it and clear liquid comes out of a few different places. i hope its not a spider but im not sure what else it could be.
Can anyone help identify what keeps biting me? It is something in the house but I never see it.
